[Astrid Skogr: Hazel, we might have a problem at our checkpoint...]
[Hazel Thatcher: If you were planning to tell me that you couldn't find any Arachne attacking your checkpoint, it's because they're currently fighting my group!]
Two of the Arachne bolted toward Hazel, both wielding a sword and spear. Seeing this through her astral eye, she quickly encased her body with her Telekinesis spell, activating her telekinetic mobility.
While she expected some of the queen's children to arrive, she didn't expect the Arachne of all of them to make an appearance and attack Hazel's group. Then again, getting attacked by the reapers seemed no different. Thankfully, she didn't see any of them, so they must be at the checkpoint instead. Either way, Hazel did not like how this battle was turning out.
The Arachne, with the sword, thrust his weapon at Hazel's chest, attempting to pierce her heart. She didn't let this happen and stepped to the side to avoid it. The Arachne wasn't done and proceeded to slash his weapon at her in all directions. Up, down, left, right, diagonal slashes, zig-zag. It didn't matter what direction the monster was swinging. All that mattered to him was taking down the enemy that threatened the safety of his mother.
Hazel continued to dodge every slash it made while putting some distance between them. This didn't work because the Arachne was aggressively closing the distance, not giving her a single chance to get a moment to breathe.
Behind her, the other Arachne appeared to assist her sibling. She aimed her spear at Hazel's skull. Hazel thought about dodging the attack, but decided to try a different approach. When the spear tip was propelled toward her head, she grabbed the shaft of the weapon, holding it firmly to prevent it from escaping her grasp.
The Arachne was alarmed by this to the point where it anxiously pulled its weapon to free itself, but Hazel didn't let that happen. Applying a bit of telekinetic force onto a specific area of the spear, she managed to break it in half. The Arachne stumbled back, still holding part of the split spear.
As for Hazel, she held the weapon that still possessed the spearhead, making her part far more dangerous. The other Arachne with the sword attacked again, realizing that its sibling was in danger. With the broken spear in hand, Hazel deflected the sword that aimed for her neck, forcing the hybrid back from the force.
Before it could attempt something else, she blitzed toward it in an instant and then plunged the blade into its chest. She did this so fast that the second Arachne that wielded the other half of the spear couldn't properly process Hazel's speed. However, once it realized that she had killed one of its siblings, the other hybrid seethed at her.
"You...monster!"
"Pot calling the Kettle black, don't you think?" Hazel mocked with an evil smile.
The Arachne screeched in anger before charging at her. Instead of charging to meet it halfway, she resorted to using Telekinesis to finish the fight, aiming her hand at her intended target. The hybrid quickly noticed Hazel's actions and stopped in its tracks, as if knowing that coming any closer to her would've ended in its death.
While its instincts were good...it wasn't enough to realize that at their current distance, Hazel was close enough to cast Telekinesis on it. She gestured with her hand to close, causing the Arachne to bring its arms down on its side as if something was forcing it in place.
Once the Arachne was immobilized, Hazel then cast Telekinesis on the spear she used to kill the first Arachne and hurled it at the second one's head, piercing through its skull with ease.

Hazel then looked over to see how Zoe and Anais were doing. Much like her, they were facing their own Arachne, dealing with them rather easily. Zoe slashed her sword at the hybrids, completely overwhelming them with her skill and power in swordsmanship, and Anais assaulted her Arachne enemies with one spell after another, practically making it rain fireballs, wind blades, and more.
Before Hazel could revel at her level up and invest her points, a loud, deafening screech from the spider queen assaulted her ears. Judging from the noise, she did not seem happy.
Hazel looked over at the queen, noticing that her face was stricken with rage as she glared at Hazel and the other two.
"You...keep killing my children! You keep hurting them...!"
"If you don't like it, then stop sending your kids after us!" Hazel grumbled, expressing her annoyance. "I would gladly leave your children alone as long as they stop trying to kill me!"
The queen let out another screech, causing the entire city to both hear and feel it. Much like how the ground shook from the noise, so did her entire body. It felt like her insides were being shaken like a martini drink, not that she had ever consumed one before.
Once she stopped, the queen then proceeded to cast more spells, sending them in the players' direction. Unlike before, when they scattered to avoid getting hit, Hazel and Anais cast a Mana shield spell to block the attack. When the spell was triggered, Zoe was enveloped under Anais's shield, protecting her from the queen's attack as well.
While still under the effects of the spell, Hazel mentally pulled out a mana potion from her storage bracelet. Uncorking the bottle, she downed the liquid in seconds before tossing it aside. Upon consuming the potion, she could feel her mana rapidly replenish, filling her with newfound energy.
A moment later, her barrier disappeared, prompting the queen to proceed with her magic assault once again. Hazel moved around with the assistance of her telekinetic mobility, allowing her to zip across the ground with relative ease as she bobbed and weaved through the queen's spell attacks.
While still enveloped in her Telekinesis spell, Hazel flew over to a nearby building. Landing on the roof, she turned her sights on the queen, then conjured all of her curse spears and fired them at the monster. The six purple javelins whistled through the air before striking the queen's legs and torso.
The spider queen shrieked in pain, stumbling to the side as Hazel's curse spears began to infect her with a curse effect. Even though the queen's entire body was black, Hazel could still see vague vein-like lines spreading across her wounds, slowly infesting her body like a sickness.
Momentarily stunned by the curse seeping through her body, the queen struggled to move, allowing Zoe and Anais to throw some hits as well. Zoe launched an aura wave attack like before, while Anais hurled multiple fireballs to try and burn its body, if only a little.
Despite her attack being a success, she could tell that the damage wasn't enough to ensure their victory. Even when she could clearly see the purple curse lines spreading, Hazel knew that this wasn't going to damage the queen enough to kill her. She needed a decisive blow that would kill the spider queen within seconds.
And the only way to do that was with her Entropy Sickle, but she didn't think she could last long enough for her cooldown to be over. She needed to distract the queen until she was able to use her spell. But how was she planning to do that?
The Queen fired more acid bolts, practically blanketing the entire street they were on in green acid. Hazel and the other two could no longer stand on the street and were forced to take refuge in the buildings around them. Zoe and Anais entered a bar and grill building while Hazel scrambled inside a Walgreens. While hiding in the building, Hazel could still hear the queen screaming bloody murder, blaming her and the others for the death of her children while shooting more acid bolt spells in the area.
The acid bolts were so corrosive that parts of the Walgreens roof and ceiling were getting eaten away by the substance, dripping onto the floor near Hazel and nearly hitting her. She shuffled away from the dripping acid and sent one of her astral eyes outside to watch the queen's movements. From what she could see through her floating transparent eye, the queen was growing more frantic and hysterical by the minute.
Her eight spider legs stomped on the ground, piercing the concrete street with ease due to the sharp points of her arachnid limbs. And she continued to shout at them, her voice echoing through the street as they kept hearing the same phrase.
"My children! You have slaughtered my children! I won't rest until you pay for killing my beautiful children!"
Hazel grimaced. "Geez, she's really pissed about her children's death..."
That was when she got an idea. When she did, her face lit up, followed by an evil grin forming on her face. "Yeah...this will do."
She spared another glance at the spider queen, still going on and on about her children, and they killed them. Since the queen was so hung up on her children...perhaps Hazel could use that to her advantage. Just long enough so that she could waste enough time to use her Entropy Sickle spell.
