Mage Legend

Chapter 706: Legends and the Legends in Legends Chapter Twenty-Six Confrontation_2

An explosion erupted in the Great Magic Tower, with flames bursting out from every window and doorway. Some young apprentices, who originally intended to hide in the tower to observe the battle among the Great Mages and learn something, were now running out of the Great Magic Tower crying and wailing, rolling in the snow trying to extinguish the flames on their bodies. Thick smoke billowed upwards from the tower, visible throughout the whole city.

"Kuziman! There's no need to drag those in as funeral offerings, it will only make your defeat more painful." Lynch's voice, amplified by a spell, was deafening. The accumulated snow on several nearby towers trembled and fell in response.

While everyone's attention was fixed on the Great Magic Tower, focusing on the Great Mages who continually flew out from the windows trying to spot Kuziman's figure, a mass of dark clouds quickly gathered over the Mage Association, completely swallowing the snowy sky. The deep rumbling sound was incessant, and from time to time, electric serpents darted back and forth within the cloud layers.

"Thunder Cloud Storm!" Lynch's voice overpowered the roaring thunder: "Kuziman, is this your tactic? Do you intend to level the entire Mage Association to the ground?"

There was no response, only a bolt of lightning striking straight down from the sky, like a series of suns suddenly appearing in the night, blindingly bright. Lynch's figure vanished in an instant within the light, his flowing red robe consumed by white. Then came an immediate loud crash, accompanying explosive air pressure descending from above. This time, not only did the towers of the Mage Association tremble, but all the nearby houses also quivered under the immense pressure. Everyone standing was knocked down; those who were already close to the ground were sent flying into the air by the recoil, only to be slammed back onto the ground harshly.

Then, four more consecutive lightning bolts fell, each one thicker and reaching further than the last. A human-deep pit was blasted into the ground beside the tall tower, and the smoke from burning rocks made it difficult to breathe.

Sos looked up in terror, but quickly closed his eyes with each lightning strike. He had never imagined that magic could wield such immense power, and this apocalyptic show was a spectacle he had never witnessed before.

"Could anyone survive in such circumstances?" Sos's mind harbored only one thought: "No! Unless a miracle occurs!"

The Great Mages appeared somewhat disheveled, yet they still tried to maintain as much composure as possible in front of their students. They were all inwardly cursing the unruly Kuziman for detonating a Hellfire Ball right next to them. If it weren't for the magical defense mechanisms inside the Great Magic Tower, those precious books would have all been burnt to ashes, and even if they survived, they'd be left in tatters, possibly even stark naked.

However, they didn't notice where Kuziman went in the moment of the Hellfire Ball explosion. But running away from a mage duel was inconceivable, otherwise, where did this Thunder Cloud Storm originate?

The magical power of the Thunder Cloud Storm gradually subsided, allowing everyone to examine the place where Lynch originally stood. There was nothing in mid-air, not even dust or water vapor remained, long evaporated by the high temperatures. Caso cautiously opened his eyes, he too possessed the Eye of Insight, yet even with vision free of blind spots, he couldn't find a trace of his apprentice. Just like Kuziman, Lynch had disappeared without a trace.

However, a young Great Mage wouldn't concede so easily. The moment the first lightning struck, he understood Kuziman's intent. In terms of a direct one-on-one confrontation, an evocation Great Mage wouldn't have absolute confidence, so he had to conceal his position during the duel. But Lynch's Eye of Insight was consistently a threat to him, rendering invisibility or attempts to find cover meaningless—after all, Kuziman didn't know that Lynch's Eye of Insight had already developed a flaw. In such a situation, Lynch believed that whether it was him or Kuziman, there was actually only one choice.

Lynch gently landed on the ground, and just a moment before that, he didn't exist in anyone's line of sight. Caso was the quickest to respond; he immediately caught sight of Lynch's figure, yet he couldn't comprehend how his apprentice suddenly appeared out of nowhere. He just watched as Lynch quietly floated towards an apprentice lying on the ground, this student still trembling within a pile of snow.
