Mage Legend

Chapter 705: Legends and the Legends in Legends Chapter Twenty-Six Confrontation

"Kuziman, do you have any objections to me becoming the Head of Mages?" Lynch stood before all the Great Mages, speaking calmly.

"Indeed." Kuziman stepped out from the crowd, holding the Great Mage's Wand, the symbol of status, in his hand, though his fingers trembled on it—or perhaps it was his heart that quivered. "You are indeed the best among the younger generation, and among all the mages I have heard of, you are the most talented. In fact, because of you, we will have to redefine the definition of the word 'genius.'

"So what are you going to do?" Lynch smiled at Kuziman, looking directly into his eyes. The evocation mage in front of him was the most versatile in attack methods among all the Great Mages. Whether it was Element or force field, Kuziman had reached a remarkable level of mastery.

"What are you going to do?" Lynch asked again, "Acknowledge my status and obediently hand over the authority of the Great Mage's Wand to me? Because you know that between us, there are many grievances to settle."

"Oh, Lynch." Kuziman smiled, a look that only appears when old friends meet, showing tolerance and friendliness. "We are smart people, capable of correctly understanding the current situation, not like those Barbarians from the Desolate Land dealing with things. Do you believe in blood feuds or similar notions? Is an eye for an eye the only measure? Throughout history, many enemies have reconciled under common goals. You and I, we are Great Mages capable of creating miracles, of being praised by future generations. Can we not just sit down and reconcile peacefully?"

"We might be able to reconcile, but not now." Lynch shook his head, his voice still calm. Despite standing in the eye of the storm, he seemed completely unflustered, not showing even a hint of tension. This very composure made the other mages hesitant to act hastily, each hoping Kuziman would be the first to probe Lynch's strength, none willing to be the first to stand out at this moment.

Lynch continued, "When your master, the great serpent endangering the world, no longer poses a threat to peace; when you have lost all your Mana and do not sell your knowledge and wisdom to the enemy; when you choose to retire, content to live as an old man in the countryside. That's when there will be peace between us."

"Haha, what a generous proposal that seems!" Kuziman laughed maniacally, striking the floor with his wand. "To give up everything so that you can enjoy my peace? Who do you think you are? A Great Mage? Lynch, you are nothing! Just because you mastered a few advanced Magic, you dare claim to be a Great Mage before us? You lack the qualification; you are simply posturing! Others call you a genius, and you truly believe you are omnipotent?"

"Your behavior now resembles a pitiable person struggling with words before their imminent demise. But you got one thing right: I am nothing." Lynch swirled his robe, gesturing with his hand to the open ground outside the Great Magic Tower, making a motion of 'please.' "Don't waste the others' time anymore; let's start now."

Kuziman glanced at Lynch, then cast his eyes over the other Great Mages, scanning their faces one by one. Yet, he saw no sign from his peers of any willingness to help or to stop this duel. Kuziman only saw expressions of encouragement. Furthermore, Caso, Lynch's mentor, even showed a look of sympathy and pity towards him, much to Kuziman's anger.

"You have no right to choose your grave!" Kuziman suddenly shouted, summoning a ball of flame that rushed towards Lynch. In an instant, the Great Magic Tower was enveloped in high temperatures, the hot wind igniting all papers, curtains, and tablecloths. Although the Great Mages immediately cast their Protection Magic, they were still blown about in this whirlwind like a tornado.

Lynch fared no better, being the target of the Spell. Before he could react, Refined Gold's left hand had already acted in advance, a powerful force hurling the mage through the Great Magic Tower's window. Lynch, enduring the pain in his shoulder, concentrated the power of lightning in his hand, preparing to launch a counterattack against Kuziman.
