Chapter 279: Blood Lingzhi

Chen Guan sat up from the bed, his eyes surveying the surroundings, filled with confusion.

He remembered being taken by the Spirit Immortal Race to Zixian Castle in the middle of the night, where he used his spiritual power to help the Ancestor Zhi Xian cure his petrified body.

He also remembered the Ancestor Zhi Xian gradually awakening after absorbing his spiritual power, transforming from a wooden statue into a living human form.

The entire Zixian Castle seemed to come alive again, previously dead and desolate, now vibrant with colors appearing throughout the castle.

After that, the Ancestor Zhi Xian gave Chen Guan a gift to thank him and told him that he was now a friend of the Mushroom Immortal Race. If he ever encountered difficulties, he could seek their help in Zixian Valley.

What happened afterwards, Chen Guan did not know because he woke up at that moment.

"How could I have such a strange dream?" Chen Guan stretched lazily, feeling that the dream was too real.

But no matter how real a dream is, it's only a dream. Chen Guan looked around and did not find the gift from the Ancestor Zhi Xian, laughing at himself: "It must be because I listened to stories from Bai Yueguang and Zhu Hongzhi during the day, leading to daydreams that caused such a fantasy at night."

If the Mushroom Immortal Race had really taken him to Zixian Valley, how could they not have alarmed the people in the camp?

There are many Third Awakening cultivators in the Qilin Corps' camp. How could it be that in his dream, a carriage drawn by eight horses came in so grandly without anyone noticing?

Besides, Ji Nanhong was sleeping right next to him that night. If such a thing happened, how could it not have alarmed Ji Nanhong?

Even though he thought this way, Chen Guan was still a little puzzled because the dream was too real. He had never had such a dream before, so he felt a bit uncomfortable.

But if it wasn't a dream, then there were no traces related to the dream on him, nor was there the gift from the Ancestor Zhi Xian.

He remembered that in the dream, the Ancestor Zhi Xian had given him a piece of jadeified Lingzhi, though not very large, only about the size of a palm. But that Lingzhi was blood-red and crystalline, like blood jade.

According to the Ancestor Zhi Xian, it was a Blood Lingzhi she created using her own essence blood when she was very young, originally intended to be her new body after petrification.

Unexpectedly, her lifespan was much longer than ordinary Mushroom Immortals, and even the Blood Lingzhi she nurtured with her essence blood had petrified and eventually jadeified, while she herself never petrified and lived on well till now.

Although the jadeified Blood Lingzhi no longer had its original purpose, it contained a vast amount of Reishi Essence, which, when kept close for cultivation, could rapidly increase one's primordial energy.

Unfortunately, because it had jadeified, the Blood Lingzhi could not be directly consumed to increase primordial energy.

If it wasn't a dream, the Blood Lingzhi should be on him, but right now he could not see any Blood Lingzhi.

"Chen Guan, something's wrong." While Chen Guan was still pondering, Jiang Tianqing came running over hurriedly.

It was the first time Chen Guan saw Jiang Tianqing so panicked. Normally, Jiang Tianqing was the type of person who could sit quietly and drink tea even if the sky were falling.

"What happened?" Chen Guan asked.

Jiang Tianqing did not first go to Valley of Hundred Beasts by himself but instead sent someone there to report while he himself rushed to find Chen Guan, explaining about the arrival of people from the Inspectorate.

After listening, Chen Guan instructed Jiang Tianqing to go to Valley of Hundred Beasts first, while he himself headed towards the meeting room where Ji Nanhong was.

In his hurry, Chen Guan directly activated his primordial energy and used the Lightweight Skill to dash towards the meeting room.

As his primordial energy moved, Chen Guan suddenly felt a warm current through his heart spreading throughout his body as if endless primordial energy was emanating.

Startled, Chen Guan opened his clothing to see a palm-sized blood-colored mark on his chest.

It seemed like a birthmark of a Lingzhi pattern, but crystalline and jade-like, completely different from ordinary birthmarks.

"Blood Lingzhi!" Chen Guan was both surprised and delighted.

He remembered placing the Blood Lingzhi in his bosom, and when he checked upon waking, it wasn't there. He had thought it was his imagination, but unexpectedly, the Blood Lingzhi had merged into him.

"It wasn't a dream after all!" Chen Guan closed his clothes; now was not the time to investigate this.

When he reached outside the meeting room, he overheard the last conversation between Mei Qingta and Ji Nanhong.

Ji Nanhong glanced at the list, then pushed it back: "I'm sorry, the person is really not here, I can't help you..."

Mei Qingta slightly furrowed his eyebrows, with a slight twitch at the corner of his eyes as if about to say something, but then someone pushed the door open and walked in.

"Commander, I've returned," Chen Guan pushed the door open and walked in.

He, like Ji Nanhong, knew what consequences would befall if Ji Nanhong defied Mei Qingta, who held an order personally signed by the Chief Judge.

In just this matter, Ji Nanhong's future ambitions to become the controller of the Celestial Court Army would face inevitable obstacles, and all their efforts would be in vain.

Ji Nanhong was initially stunned upon seeing Chen Guan enter, but said nothing.

Chen Guan entering now must have his plans, and since he was already in front of Mei Qingta, whatever she said was useless.

"This is Captain Chen Guan, correct?" Mei Qingta adjusted his glasses, scrutinizing Chen Guan, and spoke indifferently.

"That's me. I heard the Inspector wants to see me?" Chen Guan did not shy away from Mei Qingta's gaze and spoke calmly.

"It's not me looking for you, but now we need everyone who has entered the Valley of Hundred Beasts to cooperate with our Inspectorate's work, and you are just one of them. Since you're here, come with me to Valley of Hundred Beasts," Mei Qingta said, then looked at Ji Nanhong again and said, "Captain Ji, please make sure everyone on the list is transferred to Valley of Hundred Beasts. I hope all of them can report to me within two hours."

After speaking, Mei Qingta got up, preparing to head to Valley of Hundred Beasts.

By now, anyone could see that Mei Qingta stayed here specifically to take Chen Guan there.

"Cooperating with the Inspectorate is appropriate." Chen Guan signaled to Ji Nanhong to stop her from doing anything, then followed Mei Qingta out.

No matter why the Inspectorate insisted on having him cooperate, Chen Guan was unafraid.

Since it wasn't a dream and he really had been to Zixian Valley and saved the Ancestor Zhi Xian, then Zixian Valley should be safe for him.

If Mei Qingta and the others intended to do something to Chen Guan, he could even rely on the power of the Mushroom Immortal Race. At that time, who would live or die was uncertain.

The people of the Inspectorate must be strong, but no matter how strong, they are just Third Awakening cultivators.

Chen Guan had the Pure Yang Sword Immortal within him; even if he couldn't defeat top-tier Third Awakening cultivators, he could escape. If he could enlist the Ancestor Zhi Xian's help, all the better.
