Chapter 280: Mei Qingta

Six people from the Inspectorate arrived in total, five inspectors and Chief Judge Mei Qingta.

Although Ji Nanhong was extremely reluctant, the situation had reached this point and all she could do was gather the people on the list and send them to Mei Qingta.

She was somewhat puzzled, not knowing what Chen Guan was planning. Unfortunately, there was no opportunity for them to talk privately now, but she believed that Chen Guan was not the type to act impulsively; he must have had some idea to act this way.

Ji Nanhong could only watch carefully and handed over the personnel to Mei Qingta.

Mei Qingta was a bit surprised by the cooperation between Ji Nanhong and Chen Guan, but it was also within expectation.

Ji Nanhong herself did not have enough strength and prestige to command authority. If she wanted to control the Celestial Court Army, she necessarily had to obtain the support of the Chief Judge; otherwise, it would be impossible for her to inherit the position of Commander Ji.

Under such circumstances, it was impossible for her to commit any act of insubordination.

Mei Qingta was somewhat satisfied and then immediately prepared to set off for the Valley of Hundred Beasts.

He left two inspectors outside to guard the entrance and took the other three inspectors, along with Chen Guan, Bai Yueguang, Zhu Hongzhi, and Jiang Tianqing, into the Valley of Hundred Beasts.

Strangely, the name Duan Shulin was not on the list.

Duan Shulin also entered the Valley of Hundred Beasts, but his name was missing from the list, while everyone else who entered the valley was on it.

Chen Guan had some doubts about this. Speaking of background, Jiang Tianqing came from the Jiang Family of the Ten Great Families, a better background than Duan Shulin.

Even he was on the list, why wasn't Duan Shulin included?

Obviously, others also noticed this issue. Jiang Tianqing walked beside Chen Guan and whispered, "Why don't I see Duan Shulin?"

Chen Guan slightly shook his head; he too did not know why Duan Shulin was not on the list.

Although Bai Yueguang and Zhu Hongzhi didn't say anything, their eyes said it all.

Clearly, they all suspected that the person who leaked the information was Duan Shulin. Otherwise, why would he alone not be brought in by the Inspectorate?

Mei Qingta led the group into the Valley of Hundred Beasts and once again saw the field of stone lingzhi, instantly lighting up the eyes of several inspectors.

Even though they were already Third Awakening cultivators and held positions in the power department of the Inspectorate, they rarely encountered so many high-quality wild stone lingzhi.

Nowadays, most elixirs are made from heavenly and earthly treasures cultivated by humans in the Secret Realm.

Otherwise, it would be impossible to provide elixirs for billions of people relying solely on wild sources.

At the indication of Mei Qingta, an inspector summoned a pet, cautiously going over to pick the stone lingzhi from the edge.

Obviously, they were also aware of the petrifying effect these lingzhi could have on pets; otherwise, they wouldn't be so eager to test it.

The result was as before: the inspector's pet collapsed after picking the lingzhi, its body rigidly entering a state of suspended animation.

Mei Qingta watched with no special expression, merely saying to Zhu Hongzhi, "Have two people scout the path ahead."

"Scout yourself," Zhu Hongzhi said with a cold face.

As a soldier, his comrades had already shed enough blood and tears on the battlefield.

And now, they wanted to use them as cannon fodder to scout the path, filling his heart with anger.

"Captain Zhu, as a soldier, you should know the consequences of defying military orders, right?" Mei Qingta said calmly.

"Of course, I will follow military orders, but only military orders. You are not my superior, nor even a soldier, and you don't have a military order. Why should I listen to you?" Zhu Hongzhi replied unhurriedly.

"First, you were sent here to cooperate with my work, so I am now your superior. Second, although the Inspectorate is independent of military districts, it's part of the military system. I have the rank of Commander and am also a soldier, and my rank is higher than yours. Third, I am on a mission, personally issued by the Chief Judge, so I have a military order in hand."

Mei Qingta looked at Zhu Hongzhi and said blandly, "If these aren't reason enough for you to obey me, I can convince you in another way."

"What way?" Zhu Hongzhi frowned and asked.

Unable to argue further with Mei Qingta, he had no choice but to follow his words.

"By strength." Mei Qingta said as he unbuttoned, removed his uniform and cap, folded them neatly, and handed them to a nearby inspector, revealing the white shirt underneath.

"Very well, I like people who speak with strength. If your strength doesn't convince me, can we leave now?" Zhu Hongzhi asked with a cold smile.

"Yes, you can leave immediately, and I guarantee you won't face any penalties." Mei Qingta's white shirt was spotless and neatly buttoned, even appearing somewhat rigid.

But he was good-looking and well-built, with an outfit that gave off a scholarly yet competent vibe, a touch of sophisticated charm.

Zhu Hongzhi stopped talking, also took off his armor and tossed it to the ground, revealing his robust physique, and walked step by step toward Mei Qingta.

The two were about the same height, around 180 to 190 cm, but with Mei Qingta's slender build and Zhu Hongzhi's more robust one, Zhu Hongzhi appeared more imposing.

Zhu Hongzhi's background wasn't noble, but he came from a family of Celestial Court soldiers for generations, reaching his position through his own effort and hard work.

His achievements were earned through his capability and sweat, having faced life and death on the battlefield, gaining a formidable aura not easily matched by others.

Just his casual approach to Mei Qingta gave off an immense sense of pressure, like the grim reaper approaching.

Boom!

As Zhu Hongzhi moved, his whole body seemed like a fighter jet breaking the sound barrier, with a terrifying sonic boom, reaching Mei Qingta in an instant, his entire body emitting a peculiar metallic sheen, making his skin look as if plated with gold.

Vajra Indestructible Divine Skill, and it had reached level 31, surpassing his own rank's secret skill level.

Zhu Hongzhi being one of the survivors of the Black Tiger Corps was not by chance; he inherently possessed powerful capability, especially with unique achievements in body protection secret skills.

Under the effect of the level 31 Vajra Indestructible Divine Skill, Zhu Hongzhi's fists were harder than steel. Even without employing other lethal secret skills, the destructive power of this punch was already shocking.

Mei Qingta watched Zhu Hongzhi's golden fist coming at him, his steps relaxed, assuming a rather odd posture, and suddenly extended his right hand swiftly.

Because of the speed, most just saw a blur, not seeing how Mei Qingta moved his hand, as if he never acted at all.

Then Mei Qingta stood there unmoving as Zhu Hongzhi's fist kept swinging forward, yet even though Mei Qingta stood there without a move, Zhu Hongzhi's fist went past him, striking nothing but air.
