The Villainess's Heartthrob Script: I Can Talk to Animals

Chapter 459: Lying Motionless

Chapter 459: Chapter 459: Lying Motionless

Wade Garrison sized up Jessica. Seeing she didn’t seem to be lying, he was just wondering who could be looking for him when a loud BANG came from the courtyard gate.

He whipped his head around to look, only to see the courtyard gate shaking violently before it was quickly kicked open.

A male and a female police officer appeared before him.

The color drained from Wade Garrison’s face.

A light instantly appeared in Jessica’s tear-blurred eyes, and hope ignited in her heart. She choked out a shout, "Officers, help me! I’m begging you, help me!"

The moment Mrs. Garrison saw the police, her face turned pale and her legs began to tremble uncontrollably.

’The police? Why are the police here?’

"Are you Teacher Jessica?" the female officer asked, looking at Jessica.

Jessica nodded vigorously, tears streaming down her face. "Yes! I’m Jessica!"

"Don’t worry." The female officer walked over, helped her up from the floor, and comforted her, "We’re here to rescue you."

Jessica’s legs were too weak to stand, and she hung limply on the officer, crying, "Thank you, thank you so much..."

Wade Garrison stood up, putting on a polite and courteous smile. "Officers, has there been some kind of misunderstanding? None of us called the police."

"Are you Wade Garrison?" the male officer asked, sizing him up and extending a hand.

"I am Wade Garrison." Wade Garrison thought the officer wanted to shake his hand, so he reached out and took it.

The male officer nodded. "Then there’s no mistake."

He tightened his grip on Wade Garrison’s hand, pulled out a pair of handcuffs, and snapped them onto his wrist. "You’re suspected of violently assaulting a woman. You’re coming with us to the station!"

"No!" Mrs. Garrison immediately rushed forward to stop them. "My son didn’t break any laws! What right do you have to arrest him? Take those off him right now!"

The male officer warned her, "Ma’am, please don’t interfere with our work."

"What’s wrong with my son teaching his wife a lesson?" Mrs. Garrison said with righteous indignation. "If she doesn’t listen, she needs to be put in her place. Every family is like this!"

The male officer frowned. "Ma’am, that kind of thinking is unacceptable. The law is very clear: domestic violence is not a private family matter!"

"I don’t care! You’re not taking my son!" Mrs. Garrison threw a tantrum, plopping onto the ground and hugging Wade Garrison’s legs. "If you want to take my son, it’ll be over my dead body!"

The male and female officers looked at each other, a speechless expression in their eyes.

Their primary mission was to get Teacher Jessica out of the Garrison family’s house. As for Wade Garrison, it wasn’t urgent to take him in right this second. They could arrange for more colleagues to come over later.

Not wanting to get entangled with the shrewish old woman, the two officers only took Jessica with them.

When Renee Jennings learned from Henry Stark that the local police had already taken Jessica from the Garrison family home, her furrowed brow instantly smoothed, and a hint of a smile finally touched her tense face.

The number of viewers in the stream had dropped by tens of thousands, but people were still discussing Jessica’s situation in the bullet comments.

Most people were kindhearted, and knowing that everyone was worried about Jessica, Renee Jennings said gently, "I just got word. Jessica is at the police station now. She’s safe, so everyone can rest easy."

[Really? That’s great!]

[Waaaah, I’m just glad she’s okay.]

[Streamer, how do you know???]

Renee Jennings explained, "I called the police as soon as Kapok Blossom told me the Garrison family’s address."

[Huh? How come we didn’t see you call the police?]

[The streamer is amazing! You saved a woman! A life!]

[Ahhhh, that’s our favorite streamer! Renee, I love you!!!]

[Woman, you make me so proud~]

Besides the bullet comments praising Renee Jennings, the screen also exploded with colorful special effects from everyone’s enthusiastic donations.

Renee Jennings raised an eyebrow slightly and chuckled. "Alright everyone, no more donations. Do you still want to connect? If you keep donating, I’ll have to end the stream."

[Streamer, are you secretly rich? Why don’t you want donations? So many other streamers are desperate for people to donate more!]

[Hahaha, I was wondering the same thing. Streamer, are you super wealthy?]

[Streamer, can you be my sugar mama? I’m very low-maintenance~~~]

Renee Jennings didn’t know whether to laugh or cry. "I’m not a rich woman, I just have enough to get by."

’It’s not like everyone’s money grows on trees. I get rewards from the system, so donations are nice, but not necessary.’

After saying that, she didn’t linger on the topic and announced leisurely, "Attention, attention, preparing to connect now!"

The connection with "Cokie" was successful. The screen split in two, and the new panel showed a girl with long, flowing hair.

She was wearing a red tank top and a pair of black-framed glasses. Behind the lenses, her eyes were big and round. Judging by the product display shelves in the background, she seemed to be in a supermarket.

"Hello, Cokie," Renee Jennings said with a grin. "Buying some Cola?"

Cokie held her phone in one hand and pushed a shopping cart with the other, saying in surprise, "Ms. Jennings, you’re so smart! I am actually buying Cola at the supermarket."

As she spoke, she stopped, pulled a can of Cola from her cart, and held it up to the camera. "See!"

"Coca-Cola," Renee Jennings said. "I buy Coca-Cola, too."

[I think Pepsi is better!]

[Pepsi is too sweet. Coca-Cola is still the best~~]

[Huh? You guys actually pick a brand when you drink cola? I just buy whatever’s on sale. I can’t tell the difference.]

[Don’t you dare buy Coca-Cola! Put it down!]

The stream was split between Team Coke and Team Pepsi, arguing endlessly in the bullet comments.

Renee Jennings was both amused and exasperated. "Everyone has different tastes. You don’t need to get worked up about it. Just buy whatever you want to drink."

[Exactly!]

[A bunch of children.]

Cokie also didn’t know whether to laugh or cry. "You guys, stop fighting! I won’t buy the Cola, okay? I’ll put it back, how about that?"

"Cokie," Renee Jennings called out to her. "You requested to connect. Is there something you need my help with?"

"Yes, there is." Cokie forgot about putting the Cola back and nodded quickly. "Ms. Jennings, it’s about my dog. I feel like he’s been in a really bad state lately."

"What’s wrong?" Renee Jennings asked.

Cokie stopped shopping, returned the few items from her cart to their shelves, and hurried out of the supermarket.

She spoke as she walked, "It’s like this, my dog has been really lethargic lately. He doesn’t even have the energy to eat. And when I try to take him for a walk during the day, he refuses. He just lies there without moving... He used to love going out and wandering around!"

[Huh? Is he sick?]

[That’s scary. Have you taken him to the vet for a check-up?]

"Have you had him checked?" Renee Jennings asked.

Cokie: "I have. The vet said there’s nothing physically wrong with him, but his condition is clearly not right."

A pleading look entered her eyes. "Ms. Jennings, please, I’m begging you to help me ask Oreo."

"Okay, I can do that," Renee Jennings nodded.

Cokie said gratefully, "Thank you, Ms. Jennings! I’m almost home, just have to cross the street!"

Hearing this, Renee Jennings let out a soft chuckle. "It’s alright, there’s no rush. Take your time. Safety first."

"Thank you, Ms. Jennings!" Cokie was deeply touched, and her fondness for Renee grew instantly.
