"What're you looking at?" Nyx asked as she noticed Amon stare at one of the girls for the sixth time.
Amon immediately turned to look at her and chuckled, "Nothing serious… It's just that I recognise one of these girls. She used to be one of my neighbors in the past."
Nyx's ears perked up with interest as she looked at the girl Amon kept staring at recently.
'Should I ask… but I don't want to overstep my boundaries. Did he like her? Well…. she looks like she'd be really pretty if she just took a good bath.' she thought.
Amon glanced at her and began speaking like he could hear her thoughts.
"She's basically the reason my mother had to sell herself as a slave." he said softly as he recalled his memories and sighed, making Nyx immediately look at him in alarm and worry.
'Then why don't you look angry? Was I right… did he actually like her?'
"Once my father died, we were basically living off scraps. She used to come to our house a lot back then and she told my mom that she can sell one of her kids for money. That's what her father did, sold some of his kids and even his wife like they were goods." Amon said softly as he looked straight ahead.
"My mother sold herself instead of me or my brother… we did get a lot of money but… we weren't really happy. Then I made the decision of leaving the green zone. I used the money to send my brother to the academy and tried my best to earn money so I could pay for my mother's freedom. Alas… I don't see any hope anymore."
As soon as he finished, he felt something soft against the side of his head.
Nyx wrapped her arms around his head and pulled him close, "You've worked hard."
Amon stared ahead as he felt a lump in his throat. It was weird.
He didn't really have much of a connection to his mother since all of it was mere memories. He didn't really live with her.
But for some reason, hearing the words, "You've worked hard." hit him in a place he did not expect.
'… why did she even say that… and why do I even feel like crying right now? The fuck is wrong with me?' he thought as a frown formed on his face but he turned his face towards Nyx and hugged her back.
A few minutes later, he let her go and leaned against the wall, "I'll take a short nap. We'll do ninety minutes each until day time."
"Okay, sleep well." Nyx nodded as she patted her lap.
Amon glanced at her milky white thighs and immediately went for them. He wasn't going to reject a juicy invitation.
Sleep hit almost instantly and by the time he woke up, it was already day time.
Light permeated through the walls, shining sunlight even in places underground.
"Ugh..." he groaned and sat up before he groggily looked at Nyx who had a slight smile on her face.
"Why didn't you wake me up? I said that we'd do ninety minutes each right?"
Nyx pouted slightly in response, "Well… you looked way too adorable in your sleep so I couldn't bring myself to wake you up. We can sleep once we're home, don't worry about me."
"If you say so…" Amon muttered as he got to his feet and left the place with Nyx on his back.
The mission went successfully, with Amon being able to loot every single stash house without putting in much effort. There were barely any combat oriented people to defend them.
He walked towards the green zone with Nyx right beside him, holding hands. They walked in silence while Amon checked his account in the market.
All the potions were being bought at an extremely fast pace, his coins going up like never before.
'All these potions should be sold out by the time I get back to the mansion…' he thought as he glanced at Nyx who seemed to be in really high spirits for a weird reason.
*******
A few hours ago in the mansion, Elena sat on the bathroom floor with a mana stove in front of her along with a small cauldron on top of it.
"F ranked Vital essence pill…." she muttered as she stared at the translucent book floating in front of her, "It's effects are similar to a health potion so I guess I'll call it the Vitality Pill instead? Hmm… wheat flour and water as the base. Core ingredient is the Heartleaf herb. Other stuff is just optional so I'll just ignore it."
After making up her mind, she bought the necessary ingredients from the market. A few litres of distilled water, a few kilos of wheat flour and lastly, the pricier one, Heartleaf Herb.
The wheat and Water was merely one coin each but the heartleaf herb was slightly higher at 10 coins per kilo.
'Yes, I'll buy ten kilos and practice with them before moving on to the other pills. Healing potions are in pretty high demand so if things work well, I should be able to sell these too.'
As she made her plans, she boiled the water and tossed in the heartleaf herbs. The water boiled for a few minutes, extracting the properties of the heartleaf herb at a steady pace.
During this time, Elena read through the effects of the additional ingredients and couldn't stop herself from buying one of them.
Luckily, these went for the same price as the heartleaf herb at 10 coins per kilo.
With ten kilos in hand, she tossed 100 grams into the cauldron and let it all simmer for almost an hour before straining the solids inside.
Most of the water had evaporated, leaving behind a concentrated mixture.
'Now this is the most important part…' she thought as she poured in the wheat flour and began mixing it with the water using a long wooden stick.
It took her a few minutes but once she was done, she dipped her hand in water and pulled out a small ball of the dough before rolling it between her palms to turn the surface smoother.
'Let's see…'
[Vitality Pill (FF): A pill that can restore 204 health points and increase Vitality stat by 2 points upon consumption.]
