Shadow Weaver: Sole Heir Of The Night

Chapter 61: Colors

"Let me go!!" The young man below Enzo struggled furiously, edging closer and closer to Enzo's curved dagger.

He didn't know what was good for him.

However, try as he did, he could not get free from Enzo's firm grip. It was like being pinned down by an industrial-scale machine.

"Let go of him. This is very improper," suddenly another voice joined the trio. It belonged to a short but fiery-looking young man with a muscular build.

"Hm? He started it…" Enzo could feel the gazes piercing through him as he held this rabid dog of a person down. He suddenly looked like a monster.

"Being powerful and being benevolent are two different things. Let him go." The short young man doubled down, clearly not interested in Enzo's explanations.

"Hmp!! Whatever." Enzo slowly stood up, letting go of the young man below him. He had struggled so much that he couldn't even muster the strength to stand up and continue his fight.

"Keep your dog on a stronger leash. I'm not used to leaving my prey alive," Enzo snapped at the young man as he was instinctively led to the corner of the section by Zeke, where he took a seat.

Watching this happen, the short young man could only stare at Enzo with a venomous expression as he proceeded to help his crony up. This good-for-nothing thought he could mess with him? He would….

As he raged in his mind, he soon noticed something off about the arrangement before him.

"I…." Enzo was seated amongst the twin star girl and Zeke Burn. These were the most talented people here. He had even tried to sit next to them earlier on and was told not to.

Were they keeping the seat for him all along? He couldn't understand, so he turned back to the people he knew in the group and raised an eyebrow.

"It's not worth it," one of the more talented Star Weavers shook his head, casting a gaze at the short young man. There were some fights that were just unwinnable.

Better to bid for time until someone more capable arrived, and around five minutes later, it did arrive.

"Haha, I must be so fucking desensitized today. A Red Star appeared? And I'm not losing my shit? Today is just too stimulating," Violet, the test administrator, said from her booth as she sized up the young man standing in front of her.

[Name: Argos Snowfall

Rank: Starweaver (Stage Two)

Affinity: Blizzard

Star Core: Red Star]

"Snowfall, Blizzard affinity, white hair…. It's them." At the forefront of the line, a group of three individuals came one after the other, testing very high, all having the exact same last name.

Snowfall.

These were members of a powerful family in the Northern Isles….

"You are qualified for the special program," Violet announced as the three individuals walked off into the pass section and took seats on a prominent bench right next to Enzo and the rest.

"What's with these guys and dying their hair?" Enzo muttered under his breath. He always thought Carlos and his mother were special for having red hair, but ever since coming here, his eyes had been barraged by a plethora of colors.

"It's not dye. It's genetic." Beside him, Zeke responded, not even taking offense to Enzo's words. It really was strange for an outsider to see this, but high-grade families tended to have hair differences.

Even Raven had some tinges of white in her hair. It was a telltale sign to not fuck with each other.

"The name is Zeke." Finally, Zeke extended his hand to Enzo for a handshake, introducing himself formally.

"Enzo Malvaran," Enzo responded in kind. This Zeke guy, he was alright. He had tried to save him on impulse; clearly, he had some sort of moral compass.

Enzo didn't pride himself on having one, but it wasn't a bad idea to have people like that on your side.

"Malvaran…. Never heard of it. Not a family from the Northern Isles?" he questioned, carefully probing for Enzo's background.

"Family? Well, you could also say that." Enzo broke into a bitter smile. Did this guy think he was from some influential family? That was rich.

Of course, Zeke didn't really think so, but he couldn't deny the possibility. After all, Enzo's results were too outstanding.

"Hehe, the Grand Regent should be coming down any minute now," quickly changing the topic, Zeke brought Enzo's attention to the elevator on the side. Its numbers were reading…. someone was coming down.

And truthfully, it didn't take long for a tall, muscular man to step out of the elevator and look down at those in the pass section.

Immediately as Violet noticed him, she placed a closed sign outside her booth, signifying the end of today's registration process.

Indignant, those who were still in line had no choice but to turn back, leaving the place entirely. They would come back tomorrow.

"Greetings, future champions. Welcome to the Dual Moon Institute's 87th regular season," the Grand Regent said loudly, greeting those who had been screened.

One by one, they stood up and entered a state of attention—a show of respect.

Grand Regent Inkous—when describing monstrous Weavers, he was one of the few that could truly shake the continent. Most of the Dual Moon's reputation now was single-handedly carved out by him in recent years.

His feats were legendary, a man forged in the pits of hell and the depths of space. There was even a saying ascribed solely to him:

Inkous writes the fate of those who oppose the natural order.

"Greetings, sir!!"

An echo resounded in the hall, causing the Grand Regent to smile. At first glance, he could already tell that some of the people here were going to do great things during their training.

"Good. I like your fire." The Grand Regent smiled, panning his head around the group in front of him.

"Let's get you boys and girls into the colors of the Institute."
