Shadow Weaver: Sole Heir Of The Night

Chapter 59: Grand Regent Codename Inkous.

"What kind of abilities do you have? Or wait, wait, do you have two Stars? Damn, you do, don't you? That's crazy…" Violet grabbed the young lady, Raven, and asked a hundred and one questions, each much more annoying than the last.

However, no one came to her aid. Not even Mr. White.

"Pack up, kid, we still have someone we need to see on the top floor," Mr. White said to Enzo, pulling him to his side while casting a casual glance at raven.

White and black hair yeah, looked like one of them…but can't be right?

He couldn't help but think as they moved past a corner and vanished into the building's inner sanctum.

"I've never been on one of these," Enzo muttered under his breath as he watched his body elevate through the air while he stood and did nothing.

This was a time in human history that was very strange. Sometimes they didn't have as much as clean water to drink, yet sometimes they had the luxury of climbing a platform that floated with no physical help.

"Really? Aren't there a few in Fort Marie?" Mr. White asked, a little confused. He had stayed in Fort Marie for a few months; elevators weren't really as scarce as they seemed.

"Hehe, you're forgetting we aren't the same, sir." Enzo smiled, an embarrassed look on his face. He was a slum rat just a few months ago—dirty, uneducated, and, most of all, he couldn't afford the fee to get on something like that.

"Ohh." Mr. White simply nodded as the elevator came to a stop on the last floor, allowing them to get off.

"We are here to see Master Inkous."

Immediately, Mr. White walked up to a receptionist and said, sliding over a card to him.

"Master White, you're welcome… the Regent is expecting you." With a humble bow, the receptionist left his post and led the two through a door in the corner and into another room.

The room looked like an office. a desk made from premium material, walls painted white, and a few oddly shaped decorations seated in the corners.

Whoever they were here to see definitely had some high tastes.

"Hm? It's noon already?" Noticing the three standing before him, the man behind the desk raised his eyebrow questioningly and twisted his chair.

He was fairly old, some parts of his hair had turned gray, but of course, in this time and age, one couldn't really tell.

"Come on in, I've been waiting," the man said, standing up from his desk and approaching them.

"Good day, Grand Regent," Mr. White smiled, seeing the towering figure come into proximity.

This was the Grand Regent of the Dual Moon Institute, the head of the entire thing and the strongest person here.

Codename: Inkous.

"Hehe, Whitey, my boy, there's no need for such formalities." Patting Mr. White on the shoulder, his gaze lingered before panning to Enzo.

"Is this the coffin boy?" he asked, looking at the black coffin wrapped in chains on Enzo's back.

"Yes, that's the Graveyard Shadow," Mr. White nodded, nudging Enzo forward.

That thing on Enzo's back was definitely special, an instrument even he couldn't lift. But there was more to it.

"Shady, that's what I'll call you. Come, my boy, place the box on the counter over there," the Grand Regent said to Enzo, beckoning him forward while he went to a corner of his office and brought out a red box.

'Shady? Do I look dodgy?' Enzo couldn't help but question in his mind as he walked forward and placed the coffin on the counter.

Actually, he was starting to notice another pattern among those he had met since coming here: no one went by their real names.

Mr. White, Mr. Black, Violet, now Inkous.

Maybe that's why Mr. White hadn't introduced him with his real name? Come to think of it, he could remember Eliza saying something about code names back then.

"Hehhh, the material is nothing I've ever seen before." The Grand Regent's voice sounded, dragging Enzo from his state of contemplation as he peered down at the void coffin with a magnifying glass.

"These writings though, very familiar. You've got a good eye, Whitey." The old man smiled, tapping an old, patchy scroll beside him.

It contained several depictions at first glance that Enzo didn't recognize, but the Grand Regent was correct about one thing: these writings were the same script as the inscriptions on the coffin.

That wasn't all, they couldn't read the text, as was quite obvious, but for some reason, Enzo could, and one line really stood out to him.

It roughly translated like this:

"And on the return of the Red God, the world of nightmares fell in a single night, the seven suns tamed, and the world plunged into eternal darkness."

These words sent a shiver down Enzo's spine because he clearly understood what he had just read. Not only that, he knew exactly what it meant.

'That stubborn woman…'

He couldn't help but muse. Now he didn't know if, in reality, he was part of this story; he didn't even know if it was the same Red God, but one thing was sure…

His voyage was based on true events.

"Notice anything, kid?"

While Enzo scanned the scroll with full intent, the two were also staring at him intently. The boy seemed to see something they couldn't.

"Ehn? No, nothing." Enzo broke his gaze immediately and said with an awkward smile.

There were things he'd rather just keep to himself. It was better for himself and his family.

"They do look quite similar in writing to what was on my first voyage," he volunteered some useless information with a smile.

"Galafray, yeah, that makes sense," the Regent smiled, then went back to examining the void coffin.

If Enzo didn't want to tell him, then he couldn't force him to.

About 30 minutes later, he was done with his preliminary checks, then looked over at Enzo once again.

"So, I heard you killed someone from WeaveTech?"
