Shadow Weaver: Sole Heir Of The Night

Chapter 58: Twin Star

"You have a Great Star?!!" The lady walked over to the unstrapped Enzo and questioned with a look of disbelief on her face. Her hands clasping his shoulders tightly, causing him to shudder.

'The great star signifies an earth shattering talent'

A very old monster of the human race called Mad Vito once said that on his many rants in a universe banquet, at first they all likened the statement to that of a drunken old man citing rubbish …..he was known to say things of sorts after all.

An old man with a drinking problem and a short fuse, no one really took him seriously.

But around a decade later the first great star rared his head in the person of a young weaver name 'Drogo the eternal' who cut his way through the countless restrictions of Weavetech just to kill a Person that offended him and his family.

That very day, human society watched in awe as a single man battled against a behemoth and won.

Ever since then, the company placed great importance and a close surveillance on such talents….these kinds of talents were hence known as special grades.

They didn't fit into the current system or knowledge of rankings, they were on a league of their own, arriving with unique star names and functions.

"Uhhhh, I guess?" Enzo was a bit taken aback by this reaction from the examiner.

Great star, it was indeed part of his announcement at the end of his first voyage, his great star was named the 'graveyard star', however he always thought it was some sort of honorific, nothing to do with his actual star core rank.

They were all color graded right? That's what he thought all this while.

"You admit it? He admits it!!" The woman hollered and laughed a sign of thrill with a hint of maddening obsession. however just as she was started to act more erratic a cold hand reached out and separated her from Enzo, with a firm and unstoppable force.

"Have some professional courtesy Violet, he's my student" Mr Whites voice sounded pulling Enzo away from the examiner violet and towards the other students by his left side.

"Hey, whitey you don't have to be like that….let me do futher scans, or better yet, just tell me what your innate abilities are" She tried to persuade Mr white to allow her take a longer look at Enzo but was quickly shot a deadly look of vexation and annoyance.

Clearly Mr white didn't like her making a big deal out of this, not just for his sake, but for Enzo's…

"Party pooper, you're always such a let down, whatever….Enzo malvaran you qualify for the special grade program"

She hesitantly announced before heading back to her booth, opening the door and sitting down with a bit of disappointment.

A great star was a massive talent, that would be treasured by any organization on earth….though there were some other things to consider overall it was something people would fight over…

That being said , she really shouldn't have made such a big deal out of it. She was certain other powers would have gotten such a talent too and were probably hiding it, making Enzo stand out would be endangering him, and revealing the institutes cards.

"Hm?" Just as she frustratedly pressed her com to ask for the next person to come forward, an application form fell through the cracks in the wall and into her lap.

"Okay, Raven Winald….peer into the stargazers and insert your timestamp into the wall"

She instructed feeling a bit down about her job, she actually loved seeing talents, seeing them train, hone their powers and become important. It was like living a whole different life through others. Unfortunately her job didn't allow her to participate in that fully….

While she sat there in frustration, the young lady outside completed her tests and the results appeared on the screen.

[Name: Raven Winald

Rank: Starweaver(stage one)

Affinity: black and white

Star core: Twin Star ( Special grade) ]

Staring at the screen infront of her violet paused for a moment then felt her fingers grow numb, reading it over and over again like a computer that had just crashed. She quickly proceeded it….

It didn't take long for her to storm out of the booth once more and curse.

"What in the name of the gods is going on today? Is heaven just shitting out generational talents?!!" She cursed as she rushed over to Raven and shook her a little too violently.

Unlike Enzo, Raven didn't have anyone to save her in that particular moment so she just stood there under the scrutiny of the excited Violet.

"Hmm, so many talents today huh?" Enzo spoke coyly looking over at Mr white, it seemed like today was a lucky day for the institute.

Or was it like this all the time? He didn't know. This side of society was just to bizarre.

"Yeah…" of course Enzo didn't know the full context of what was happening here, because right now Mr White had a frown on his face.

The old monster of humanity those many years ago hadn't just said a line of words. He had recited a short but terrifying poem to does who were willing to listen…

It went like this

"The Great Star signifies an earth-shattering talent,The Twin Stars, a cosmic event. And in the depths of darkness, the Void endures."

In his native tongue it sounded a lot like rubbish but now right before their eyes a great star had appeared preceded by a twin star…..was this some sort of prophecy?? What did he mean by the void endures?

He didn't know what to think of this, had he somehow picked up someone destined for the heavens or a terrifying chaos that would burn him too?

This was truly troubling, but at this point only time would tell. He could only hope for the best, not just for his sake of course, but for Enzo too.
