Hexbound Apocalypse [LitRPG Apocalypse] (Book 3 Finished!)

Chapter 146: Reaping The Benefits (End of Book 2!!!)

"Well, that was certainly worth the trouble," Hazel muttered while going through her messages.

For one thing, killing the queen got her to level thirty-six. That was three level-ups in one go. Not only that, but it seemed that she also reached her third marker, meaning she was able to select another skill, though she would go check that out later.

At the moment, what was important was the free points she achieved from her level-ups.

Status Window Name: Hazel Thatcher Race: Human Level: 36 Class: Witch Free Points: 9

Attributes: Strength: 7 Agility: 16 Endurance: 20 Intelligence: 97 (+33) Wisdom: 91 (+18) Willpower: 22 (+10)

Using her points, she put three into Intelligence and the remaining six into Wisdom. And just like that, her intelligence stat had finally hit one hundred points. Surprisingly enough, she didn't receive any magical bonus when her intelligence hit the one-hundred threshold, which slightly disappointed her a bit.

Either way, it didn't change the fact that she made so much progress after defeating the spider queen. Especially her little loot box. Looking down next to her, Hazel saw a familiar loot placed on the ground. Judging from its design, she could tell that it was an Epic-grade loot box, which was what the system entailed what her reward would be.

Eager to see what was inside, Hazel went over to the loot box and opened it. Inside, she saw an assortment of goodies from potions to magical items. Going through the potions first, she found more mana and health potions along with more stamina and strength potions like before. Hazel didn't have much of a use for either potion now, but that didn't stop her from storing them in her bracelet along with the rest of her items.

Moving on from the potions, Hazel rummaged through the box and found some very interesting and useful items. The first thing she found was more of the magic ink bottle that was used for Rune Crafting. The first bottle was already used and didn't have as much as it used to, but this new bottle was filled to the brim with the substance.

This meant that Hazel could do a lot of rune-crafting experiments without running out for a little while. The next item she got was just as good and something she desperately needed. It was the magic chalk used to make magic circles. The chalk stick gave off a gradient multi-color appearance, almost like every primary color was fused into the chalk itself. Hazel couldn't help but stare at it for a couple of seconds, feeling completely mesmerized by the color. Instead of a box of chalk, she only obtained a single one, but that should be enough for what she intended to do with it.

More importantly, now that she had the item, she could finally summon another familiar to aid her in battles. She's been satisfied with just Nycteris, but after returning to her world, she noticed a glaring issue that came with having him as her familiar, which was his vulnerability to the sun. Because of that, Hazel could only summon him at night, which meant she had no one, aside from Astrid, to protect her during the day.

And after what happened with the spider queen, she desperately needed another familiar to help even the odds, if only a little. And with the magic chalk, she now possessed the opportunity to do that.

The next item she picked up was rather peculiar. It was some kind of transparent black and purple-colored cloth. She had no idea what the item was until she tried to identify it.

<Arcane Veil> Rank: Epic A magical veil that both blocks and enhances a user's magic eye abilities at will and even prevents the user from having their status viewed by other players. The item also increases the user's Intelligence and Wisdom Stat by 20 points.

Hazel marveled at the item. "This is one cool magic veil."

It was one thing to increase her Intelligence and Wisdom stats, but the fact that she could use this item to block out her Evil Eyes was an even bigger bonus. Not to mention that her status would remain hidden with the veil equipped.

The story has been stolen; if detected on Amazon, report the violation.

This was just the kind of item she needed right now. Hazel had been struggling to get used to her evil eyes, having them mostly covered to avoid accidentally inflicting someone with their effect. But now that she had this item, she no longer had to worry about that.

"Instead of Epic, this seemed like an even higher-ranked item. Once I get this stupid webbing off my face, I'm definitely putting this on and testing it out as soon as possible."

Eager to find out what the item was capable of, Hazel moved on to the last item in the loot box, and surprisingly enough, it was even more bizarre than the arcane veil, just from its appearance.

"I-is this a...heart?"

Lifting the item from the box, Hazel grimaced as she held up a literal heart in her hand. Or something shaped like a heart. It was purple and black with bright violet lights coursing through the item like veins. It was completely still, telling her that it wasn't living, which she was grateful for. If this heart was still beating, then she might have tossed it away out of pure disgust.

Curious to know what exactly she was holding, she quickly appraised the item, only for her jaw to drop upon reading its description.

<Arcane Heart> Rank: Legendary A magic heart that can exponentially increase the user's magical capabilities depending on how many Circuit Paths that have been unlocked. To use the item, the user must fuse the heart with their own, bonding with it as a result.

"Another item that increases my magic abilities, huh? I'm already sold on the idea," Hazel grinned.

With both the Arcane Veil and Heart, Hazel would become so much stronger than she already was. Especially the heart, considering that it possessed these so-called circuits that she would need to unlock. And she believed that with each circuit that she unlocked, the stronger the heart would become, which would essentially make her stronger as well.

With the number of items she received, Hazel knew that she was going to be too busy for quite a while. From studying runecraft to her preparations to summon another familiar, to even testing out her new items, she soon realized that she had quite a lot on her plate now. And it didn't seem like she was going to catch a break anytime soon.

...

Meanwhile, somewhere within the vast multiverse, a lone figure resided in an extravagant and majestic office filled with various things from bookshelves to mechanical trinkets, and the like.

"Hmm, it seems like the Spider Queen was killed..." A female voice said with a sigh. "All that work in making her stronger, and yet she died so early on. Within four to five days of that new world being introduced to the second phase of the Integration."

The lone figure tapped her finger against her pristine and polished oak desk that was blanketed with papers and sheets of numerous projects and blueprints. She then turned and stared out at the window wall positioned behind her, bearing witness to the city that filled her entire view. A city filled with buildings as white as snow and divine as the very heavens themselves. A city that displayed incredible radiance and divinity. A city that...only the divine themselves were allowed to take residence in.

The long figure sighed, taking in the view before turning back around to face her desk, still drumming her delicate nails against the oak wood with vigor. She then moved her hand away and snapped her fingers.

"Maev, please come here."

Upon saying this, another figure suddenly manifested before her, emerging from the very shadows that dwell within the office. It was a woman with short black hair and wearing a black business suit, giving off the impression of a secretary. She kneeled before the lone figure that called her.

"Is there something you need, master?"

"Tell me how our little Apostle we contracted with in the freshly integrated world is doing," She asked with a small grin. "Is she making progress with the little task we assigned her?"

"She is currently progressing well."

"That's good. I would be a little disappointed if she weren't properly doing her task. Do you believe that there will be problems with her mission?"

"I do," Maev nodded. "While the Apostle is currently gaining followers to increase her influence and powers, there are already those within the area who are currently opposing her."

The woman sighed, leaning back in her chair. "That's to be expected, I fear. Not everyone can be easily convinced that joining our side will benefit them in the long run. None of the other worlds we claimed have, anyway. That's just how it is with these naive fools."

"I completely agree, master. They do not understand that you are simply granting them salvation, and even dare to believe that they do not need it. They truly are fools." She declared in a cold and menacing tone as if addressing these so-called "fools" as lesser beings. Then again, in her eyes, they were when in the presence of her master.

"Yes, they are," The woman smiled. "Which is why we must snuff out any potential threats that will try to liberate this new world from us, whether it's from the very residents that reside there or those pests from another world that dare to defy our will. Be sure to keep an eye on our Apostle and provide her with as much support as possible. Of course, within the limits that the system provides for us, understood?"

"Understood, master," Maev acknowledged her orders as she stood up to leave.

Once Maev left her office, the lone woman then turned around to view her city once more. She let out a heavy sigh and admired the sight with a longing gaze. "They will soon understand that all I wish to give them...is salvation."
