My Magical System

Chapter 308: War is around the corner

When Eman came back, he handed Dos a ring. It was already a completed version. The requirement needed to open a gate was just magical energy of the user and familiarity of the target place they wanted to go.

"What is this, My lord?"

Of course, Dos would ask that and Eman explained to him what it was and its uses.

After hearing his explanation, Dos' face glittered in excitement.

"Wow! So I don't need to travel very long? I can directly arrive at the place where I want to go?!"

Eman nodded. "As long as you are familiar with the place you want to go."

"I see."

After that, Eman demonstrated how to use it. They went outside the Lord's Domain. They appeared in a clearing near an abandoned building. This place was inside the Sunville Village, but this area was a secluded area, so he was sure that no one would spot them here.

Also, it was night time, so the few people that were currently staying in this place would have no reason to wander around except for the people from his Lord Domain that he asked to guard the village.

Dos watched attentively as his Lord poured magical energy on the ring. He saw the tiny stone on the ring glow brilliantly. Then after stretching forward the ring, a rift-like gate materialized before his lord.

While wearing a bewildered expression on his face, Dos approached the gate and slowly touched it. When his arm went through, he quickly retreated his hand.

There was a sigh of relief when he noticed his hand was intact. "Hehe…" Eman chuckled slightly at such Dos who acted like an ignorant child.

Next, Dos peeked inside. "Wow, is this the capital?" He couldn't believe it.

"Please be reminded that this ring couldn't open an entrance to the Lord's Domain. So you still need to use the entry point to enter the domain. This ring's use is for opening a gate to the places you want to go except the Lord's Domain," Eman explained and Dos was nodding.

"I see. I understand, My lord."

Eman nodded and said, "Just a little reminder when you use it. You must appear in a secluded place to avoid any suspicion."

"Ah, that's right. Thanks for reminding me, My lord."

Eman nodded.

After using the power of the ring, a gate the same to what his lord demonstrated, appeared before Dos.

Before jumping into it, he looked in Eman's direction and bent 90 degrees. "Now, My lord. I have to go."

"Alright."

Dos' figure finally disappeared inside the gate and the gate disappeared right after. Eman was left alone.

He looked at the sky. Snowflakes were still falling, but not as downpour as the previous nights. As he was staring above, something flashed in his mind.

It was a memory from long ago. When he was a 10 years old boy, he used to play with his childhood friend. One day when he was playing with that friend, catching dragonflies near a valley, a snowstorm suddenly came and the two of them got lost in the valley.

They spent two days and two nights outside. 'The snow falls like this on the second night and the next morning we were found by our worried parents along with some of the village folks,' Eman thought while watching the falling snow.

Suddenly, he let out a sigh.

Hah.

White smoke blew out from his mouth after exhaling. He started stepping away, dispelling the thoughts out of his mind. He had no use for that kind of thoughts so far. There were many matters that needed his attention first. According to the reports from his people, it seemed the anti-emperor faction was preparing for a massive attack.

It was exactly because of that, that he sent his people to investigate the cities that likely had motives against the emperor.

If a war breaks out around this time, it would not be good. He needed to accumulate enough resources first before the war breaks out.

It was the reason why Eman had to send his people to those cities, to at least sabotage their plan and delay their attacks.

So far, his people did a good job, but he knew that sooner or later, he would be running out of ideas to delay them and a war would break out no matter if he liked it or not.

It was apparent that the anti-emperor faction was ready to attack anytime, especially that their main tactics of deteriorating the empire's main supply was proceeding smoothly.

The only reason that they had yet to attack was because of the commotion that his faction (Eman's faction) was causing. Those families with the ties of the anti-emperor faction could not send their soldiers because of the internal strife happening in their families. It goes to say that the one causing it was Eman. It was the only way to delay their plan of attack.

But if by chance a war occured, the Imperial family would surely be at the disadvantage. He had no idea how strong the Heroes are, but would the heroes go to side with the Imperial family? As far as he knows, the Blessed Church had a bigger part in their summoning. And that Blessed Church was another faction that needed full attention as well.

He had no idea what their goal was, but according to all the information they gathered, the Blessed Church was the one behind the Burning Puppet cult.

Their aim was still vague to Eman and it didn't seem they were directly connected to the anti-Emperor faction, so pretty much, their main goal was different.

Nonetheless, civil war is around the corner.

"Urgh. Why does politics always mess up?" He groaned.

Eman suddenly stopped on his. He remembered Zennie's request.

"Right, I have to visit Sol first."

He summoned a gate and entered it.

In the northern part of the empire, in the city under the Gentlewind Family, Reena and the others were staying in one of the luxurious Inns of the city.

Crossing her legs and arms, Reena was sitting on a sofa while thinking about their progress.

So far, they don't have solid information to know the root of the problems that are happening now in the empire. The only information they have is about the masked people. And even then there is no solid information to determine the whereabouts of those alleged people.

Hah.

Reena let out a sigh and rubbed the back of her neck. There were still many questions that were unanswered.

Is she this incompetent? With that question in her mind, her self-confidence was deteriorating. If that childhood friend of hers would know about this, he would be laughing at her, telling her she was a useless transmigrator for sure.

At that moment, the door opened and Eula entered.

"Miss Reena, as you'd instructed, I sent a letter to the patriarch of the Gentlewind family."

"Alright, thank you very much, Eula."

"There's no need to thank me. This is my duty after all."

Reena laughed wryly.

"By the way, where's the captain?" Reena asked.

"Uhh, Captain Kannah was gathering information on the nearby tavern. I think she'll be back soon."

"I see. Let's hope she'll get some useful information."

"Yeah."

"Alright. I'll go and take a bath first," Reena stood up.

"Do you need help?" Eula asked.

"No need."

"Okay."
