After curing the two acquaintances of Rossbert, Rossbert was required to explain to them what happened after they passed out.
When they finally heard Rossbert's explanation, the two said their heartfelt thank at the masked man.
Eman asked them to come with him because he needed their help with something.
"We owe you our lives, so we'll do whatever you want us to do, sir,"
"Count me in."
Troyer Des and the scout bowed at Eman. They swore their allegiance to him.
Their allegiance wasn't his intention. It was merely a bonus. He just wanted information from them. But anyway, they might become useful in the future.
But contrary to the two, it seems Rossbert had another plan.
"Sorry, as much as I want to help, I can't do that right now. I need to rescue the others first. They are my companions who I cannot let die," Rossbert voiced out his concern.
He noticed the masked man glanced sideways at him and said, "Right. I forgot to tell you but there's no need to worry about them. They are in a safe place right now. They are now at the foothill outside the forest. On a road leading downtown."
Eh?
Even though Rossbert could not see the masked man's face because of the mask, he could tell that he was serious.
But how come he recognized who they are? And how did he know them? Did they meet them before he arrived at the mayor's office?
Seeing the expression on his face, Eman smiled wryly under his mask. "One of my companions rescued them. I received a report from them just now. By how they sent the report is something I cannot disclose to you. I hope you'll understand."
Rossbert gawked.
This person is truly full of mysteries. Anyway, after all that he did, it would be disrespectful if Rossbert still doubted his words.
"The young lady, is she okay?" Rossbert asked quickly.
He saw his nod at him.
"She's still unconscious, but she's fine."
Hearing that, Rossbert breathed a sigh of relief. The weight in his chest had finally loosened up. "I see, that's a relief."
Rossbert looked at him. "What do we have to do then?"
Eman smiled, though they could not see it.
"I will tell you. But before that, I want to know about some things first."
"I see. Just say what you want to know. You can count on me to tell you everything I know," Rossbert assured him.
"Yeah. Me too."
"Me too, sir!"
Eman looked at each one of them before he opened his mouth again and said, "Then let's talk while traveling in the air."
After saying that, Eman jumped on Sphin's back. He also beckoned Rossbert to ride too.
"Ah?"
The doubt on Rossbert's face was obvious. It was the first time Rossbert saw this kind of creature. In the first place, what kind of monster is this? It has a human face and an animal body. He had no idea that this kind of monster existed. This was the monster that was lifting him in the air earlier.
Even in his entire life, he had never heard of this kind of monster.
Like Rossbert, Des and the scout were also stunned when they noticed Sphin. They didn't immediately pay attention to it earlier because of the shock and joy when they found out that they were still alive.
But now that they noticed it, the two almost trembled with fear when they observed it. It has peculiar form. One that out of everyone's expectation.
"S-sir, what kind of monster is that?" The scout couldn't help asking that question.
Eman thought a little about that question. He couldn't say that it was a mythical beast from his previous world. And because of his weird crew with a weird mind and one with a weird hobby, this thing was made.
"Let's just say it's a magical beast," Eman grinned. He added, "Don't worry. This thing is tamer than a puppy. Just don't direct hostility towards it."
That last line was a strong warning. They gulped down saliva and nodded in unison.
"Y-Yes, sir!"
Eman stared at them for a second before he opened his mouth again. "Let's go. We don't have much time to waste here," Eman reminded Rossbert to ride.
Rossbert seemed to want to find a way to avoid riding it, but he couldn't find an excuse. So in the end, he ended up riding it.
To his surprise, after riding on Sphin's back, he noticed that he just seemed to be riding a horse.
"Ooh, I didn't expect it's so comfortable to ride," Rossbert mused.
After Rossbert got on board, the two pointed to themselves.
"Us, sir?" They asked where they were going to ride.
Although Sphin was big, its size was only enough for two people to ride in tandem.
Eman didn't answer, but behind his mask, his mouth curved upwards.
Using his earth element power, Eman created a bucket-shaped object. The size was enough for two people to enter it.
"Go in," Eman beckoned them to enter the bucket.
Though skeptical, the two followed him.
Sphin bit the bucket's holder and then started running in the air with emerald flame ablaze on its feet.
"Woah!"
Everyone looked amazed when they noticed they were truly descending in the air.
While crossing his arms across his chest, Eman was standing on Sphin's head. Only Rossbert was sitting on its back.
Everyone could see the entire mayor's mansion from above. And as they continued to climb higher, the area they could see below grew even larger. They noticed that some parts of the place were on fire.
Some signs of destruction could also be seen. And outside the rampart, some monsters were roaming around.
"I want you to tell me everything you know about this place. And what do you think is the reason why it was invaded by monsters."
Eman didn't waste time and directly said what he wanted to know. He also wanted to know about the group they fought against and whether they know anything about the cult called Burning Puppet.
However, Eman decided to first ask about this city and the reason why it was attacked by monsters.
From what he said, everyone remembered the town's bitter situation.
The three immediately said what they knew.
According to them, the monsters suddenly attacked the town early in the morning, a couple of days ago now.
"I'm amazed by the fact that the town still did not crumble completely against the atrocious attacks by the monsters for that long," Eman replied.
"You're right, sir. But I think it's thanks to the imperial knights who were quick to establish a defensive line."
Ah, so I'm right. Those soldiers I saw earlier were Imperial Knights, Eman thought.
While he was patrolling above a while ago, he saw some soldiers who were fighting against the monsters.
At first, he thought they were town guards or town soldiers, or even maybe mercenaries, but after seeing their flags, he realized they were Imperial Soldiers.
Anyway, this information wasn't enough to draw conclusive hypotheses of whether it was a planned attack or just a coincidence.
"Is that all you know? Or have you noticed something that you think is out of the ordinary before the monsters' attack had taken place?" Eman asked again.
Hm…
The trio seemed to be pondering.
This time, it was the scout who opened his mouth first.
"Uhm, now that I think about it, I remembered I saw a parade of soldiers when we arrived here. It was a day before the group of Mr. Rossbert arrived here."
"A parade of soldiers? Do you mean the Imperial Soldiers?"
"No, Mr. Rossbert," the scout shook his head. "I asked one of the citizens and he told me that they were the Dona Family's Elite Soldiers."
Hearing that, Eman knitted his brows.
