Crimson System of Vampire Prince

Chapter 62: Love Swap

Luke came near him, and a sigh escaped from his mouth. "Today's weekend. Without training, we are free to do whatever we want. And tomorrow will be a survival competition."

Victor turned to him and replied, "Couldn't you tell me before I got up from the bed?"

He walked back to his bed and lay down, covering himself with a white bedsheet. Luke's eyes widened, and he mumbled, "How could someone be so lazy?"

"Don't mind me," Victor replied from inside.

Luke sighed and sat on his bed. "The competition on Sunday is between the three factions. Blue, Golden, and our Black factions. It is the first survival competition, and we'll be transferred to a forest. Each group will make a camp and survive from early morning till midnight. We will be assigned a faction flag that we have to protect. The team that captures the flag is awarded with 5000CP, and the team that survives for 18hours without losing anyone will get 3000CP."

Victor came out and asked, "Aren't we at a disadvantage?".

Luke replied with a sad smile, "Yes, we are, and they don't care."

Victor frowned, sitting up on the bed, and muttered, "I need that CP."

"That's impossible, we are four members only and we can't defend against hundreds of other members," Luke grumbled.

Victor lay back down and smiled, "Let's have fun tomorrow."

Luke rolled his eyes at the lazy bum's comment. "He is not lazy but crazy too."

"I'm not crazy, and this is not laziness. I call it strategic rest. You should follow it too." Victor's muffled voice came from the sheet. An exasperated sigh escaped from Luke's chest. He slumped back on his bed.

As the morning Sun rose, Kate sat in the main hall for breakfast. Her eyes wandered around the black faction table, but Victor was nowhere to be found. Suddenly, she got a glimpse of Zara sitting beside Aslan.

"Your friend seems quite naïve," Vladiyus commented. Kate glanced at him, stuffing his mouth nonstop. She frowned and asked, "Why?"

"Hmm, ahem, Princess, do you not know about the Kauffman family?" Vladiyus asked with wide eyes.

Kate shook her head and glanced at Aslan. "No, I don't. Tell me." She asked in a neutral voice.

Vladiyus put down the sandwich and took a sip from the orange juice. "Ahem, where should I start. Hmm," he whispered and leaned back on his chair. "The Kauffman is the oldest merchant family. Like my family, the Gladiator, warrior family. They used to have their business all over the Neero world. They were respected everywhere. They were like a King of not any empire but the Neero world itself."

Vladiyus smiled at the wide-eyed Kate leaned over. "It all ended when Chaos Aliens invaded the Neero. As you know, the Elven, Dwarven, and the Beast Empire were destroyed first. They escaped to the small country of Naria. In that destruction, Kauffman lost half the wealth they had built."

He paused and glanced at the black faction. And whispered, "Many people think that other races don't care about the Neero world, but don't know the reality. My father always said that when Chaos Aliens invaded, they thought they wouldn't reach us."

Kate sighed and asked, "Focus on Kauffman, why did you mention that Zara was naïve?"

Vladiyus smiled and whispered, "I'm getting there, don't be impatient. It doesn't look good on your pretty face."

Kate glared at him, but he chuckled and continued. "As Kauffman lost the most in the early war, they changed. They left their morals behind and made many shady deals. No doubt they're still powerful in a Holy Empire, but they can't do anything to us or another Royal family. My father said that Kauffman thinks their loss was because the Holy Empire didn't help them."

Vladiyus turned silent and looked around himself. He leaned closer and whispered, "There are rumors that they're doing business with Chaos Aliens. And many people from the Kauffman were caught worshipping the God of Greed."

Kate stood up, chair falling behind, and exclaimed, "Is this true?"

"Shhhh! Quiet down, Kate." Vladiyus whispered and grabbed her hand, pulling down. Kate looked around and instantly picked up the fallen chair. She lowered her head and focused on her food. As the interest of all other students waned, and eyes drifted away, she exhaled. Her shoulder relaxed, and she felt like she was holding her breath for quite a long time. Vladiyus smiled at her and continued eating without uttering another word. Kate peeked at Aslan and Zara, trying to notice the unusual behavior.

"You won't be able to get anything. He is clean, no tracks—nothing. Many seniors told me that many girls he was with quietly vanished from the Academy. After investigations, no proof was found incriminating him." Vladiyus whispered.

As she finished her breakfast, she stood up and left the main hall. She entered the library and went into the potions section. 'Maybe it's a potion that changed her whole personality.' She started searching through one aisle at a time.

Potion making is one of the oldest crafts in the Neero. It hasn't changed even after the System blessing. People could buy the potions from [Celestial Shop], but potioneers could also sell their potions. There were no public recipes; no Potion Master could ever disclose their formula. It's considered their sacred secret, but the knowledge about the effects of potions with a name was quite common.

Kate's eyes widened as she spotted a worn-out, grey colored book, 'All Rare Potions' name. She picked up and instantly skimmed through its yellowed pages.

Forgetful potion- to clean all memories from birth to the sip of the potion.

"No, this is not it." She muttered and returned the book.

She walked ahead and took out a random book. One after the other, but she couldn't find anything. Then her eyes drifted to the corner of the shelf, a pink book pressed against the back. She grabbed it and took it out.

'Love Syrup', inside a pink heart, the title was written. Kate chuckled at the art and opened the book.

On the first crisp page, she noticed, 'Love Swap Potion'.

A miraculous potion, once anyone drinks it, they will replace the person they love the most with a person who offered it. To complete the formula, the person who wants to be a lover must place his saliva in the potion.

S.E. The potion has severe side effects related to memory loss, which cause personality changes.

(Cure for one-sided love—You'll lose the person you used to love.)

"What kind of sick potion is this?" Kate gnashed her teeth.
