89 – The Weight of a Legendary-tier Divine Appraisal
Barclay was so furious at Teresa’s words he nearly suffered a brain hemorrhage on the spot.
That damn golden-haired brat had not only exposed his real name publicly, but even revealed the secret behind his Divine Authority to everyone watching.
Walls have ears—more so when there are hundreds of eyes watching a live broadcast!
Now that so many people knew the hidden mechanism of his Divine Authority, it was only a matter of time before it spread across the entire school. Once that happened, his power would be crippled. What use was stealth when everyone knew your weakness?
This was career-ending.
You rotten, golden-haired wench. You deserve to die!

“Ohh! That was close—Wenfu almost got eliminated!”
The nerve-wracking scene had many Wenfu supporters in the plaza sweating bullets.
“Teresa is so cool!”
“She’s having to fight three people and carry a whole backpack!” another student joked, implying Wenfu was dead weight.
The water crystal projection didn’t include audio, so while everyone could see Teresa speaking, they had no idea what she actually said.
But Barclay didn’t know that. He thought Teresa had outed his secret to the entire school. His mental state completely collapsed.
When Teresa shouted his name, the stealth granted by his Divine Authority fell apart—he lost his environmental blending effect and became fully visible.
Teresa didn’t hesitate. She raised her bow and loosed an arrow.
Blake and the mage were too far to assist, and neither had the Ranger’s speed.
Mental warfare beats brute force. Barclay’s spirit was already crushed—he was still brooding over what this meant for his future at the Academy. Though he reflexively raised his dagger to parry, his reaction lagged half a beat.
The glowing arrow skimmed the edge of his dagger, losing only a bit of momentum, but not enough to stop it.
Light arrows inflicted primarily physical damage with a small Divine Authority component. Even hitting a vital area usually wouldn’t knock someone out in one hit—not with a Divine Domain’s protection.
In real combat, a one-shot kill was vastly different from a two-shot. Miss the first, and the second would rarely land.
But just before the arrow struck, its glow intensified.
A pinkish luminescence bloomed on its surface.
Gold-dusted and pink-tipped, the arrow pierced right through Barclay’s Domain and tore into his throat.
A cracking sound. His token shattered.
A cold system voice followed: ‘Team 11 Ranger Divine Princess: Rayman Rollin has been eliminated by Team 30 Ranger Divine Princess: Teresa.’
Eliminated… in one shot?!
Not only Blake and the mage, but even Teresa was momentarily stunned.
Barclay had a 4-star physical resistance and 2-star Divine Authority resistance. By her calculation, even a hit to the throat shouldn’t have killed him instantly. His Domain alone should’ve kept him standing.
Wait a second…
Come to think of it, when she had drawn the bow earlier, she had felt slightly stronger than usual.
Teresa glanced at Wenfu—sure enough, the cat-eared girl had her eyes closed, palms together in prayer, tail swaying gently. A soft pink aura outlined her silhouette.
Wenfu had activated her Divine Authority.
She must’ve transferred her Strength to Teresa, amplifying her shot beyond expected limits.
With Barclay out of the way, Teresa immediately redrew her bow and aimed it at the two remaining enemies. The newly formed arrow shimmered gold with a halo of dazzling pink—it shot toward Blake.
Why not the mage, who lacked Domain protection?
Because Teresa had already checked via Divine Appraisal—the mage’s speed far outclassed Blake’s. He might dodge. Blake, on the other hand, couldn’t evade the light arrow at all.
Wenfu’s power reserves were clearly running low. Teresa didn’t want to waste her precious buffs.
The arrow streaked toward Blake, and just as Teresa expected, the armored man’s eyes flashed with surprise.
Any normal fighter would’ve gone for the unshielded mage first. Had Teresa done so, they’d have walked right into a trap.
But instead, she targeted him without hesitation.
Smart girl.
Still, these weren’t just any opponents—they were a top-ten team. Blake glanced at his mage teammate, who instantly understood and pulled out another Fireball Scroll.
This time, though…
He aimed it at Blake.
“Huh?”
Both Teresa and Wenfu were confused.
The flaming orb hurtled toward Blake—arriving just moments before Teresa’s arrow.
Blake grinned, spinning his axe with a roaring surge of wind.
Divine Authority – [Blade-shaped Wind].
As soon as the fireball touched the wind currents surrounding the axe, it detonated, its flames wrapping around the weapon. With a sharp twist, Blake swung the burning axe in a spinning arc.
“Flame Tempest Slash!”
He combined the magic with his Divine Authority?!
The fire-enveloped air slash clashed with the glittering light arrow, the impact erupting into a swirling explosion.
The two powers seemed to cancel each other out.
Wind tore at everyone’s clothes and hair. Teresa, puzzled by the deadlock, activated Divine Appraisal again—and noticed something important.
If the arrow had only hit the fire from the scroll, it would’ve easily cut through. But this time, it had collided with both the magic fire and Blake’s airblade Divine Authority.
Back in the earlier skirmish, Teresa had noticed that Blake’s Divine Authority had a limited range, active only at close proximity to his axe.
That’s why he didn’t immediately shatter the fireball—he waited, timing the strike so the arrow would reach his airblade’s range first. Only then did he detonate the scroll, adding an extra layer of defense.
A clever, precise tactic. No wonder they made it to the finals.
Teresa checked her own power reserves—she still had plenty of Divine Power, but Verdant Fragrance was down to just two charges.
And this was only the first battle of the final ten.
Looks like soon, she’d need to use Sacred Oblivion’s second form, or perhaps even her third Divine Authority.
She glanced at Wenfu and reactivated Divine Appraisal. With this being legendary-tier, it should show her whatever she wanted to know.
Indeed, her vision now displayed three status bars over Wenfu’s head:
Red, Yellow, Blue.
The red bar was nearly full—likely Vitality (HP).
The yellow bar remained at two-thirds.
The blue bar, however, was less than half full.
From context, Teresa deduced:
Red = HP (Vitality)
Blue = Divine Power (Authority Gauge)
Yellow = ??? (possibly Mental Focus or Divine Stability?)
She couldn’t tell what the yellow one was just yet, but it clearly wasn’t something as simple as stamina.
Even more impressive: her Divine Appraisal was detailed enough to reveal ally resource states in real-time.
So this is the power of a legendary-tier Divine Appraisal…
