65 – “Pre-Equipped Armor”
Teresa’s platinum hair shimmered like fine silk in the breeze. The two white feather streamers tied to her back fluttered with the currents of air. Her feet—wrapped in white stirrup stockings—touched lightly on the grass. The exposed soles and toes, bare against the earth, somehow remained pristine, as if the ground itself had lifted up to carry her.
“A Divine Princess Domain?!” Irene’s pupils contracted.
“That stray girl actually unlocked a Domain?!”
Yes.
Only after her Divine Awakening, when she performed an internal scan of her Divine Authority and Domain, did Teresa finally understand—just as Instructor Barros had suspected during her enrollment test—her Divine Princess Domain was extremely special. It could not be triggered by instinct or a sense of crisis.
As for the condition to trigger it, Teresa glanced at the longbow in her hand.
Her Domain could only be activated while carrying a wooden longbow.
And why had she chosen the moderately elastic Whitebirch wood…?
“A stray Divine Princess actually has a Domain too?!”
“So what?” Irene quickly recovered.
“She’s just one person! Even with a Domain, what can she do? The three of us are proper Divine Princesses—what do we have to fear from a bastard like her?”
“Let’s end this fast. The longer this drags on, the more risk there is.”
Laro, gripping his knuckle-dusters, charged directly. Irene stayed mid-range, holding back her next move. Meanwhile, the ranger-class Divine Princess behind them had already taken aim with her hand crossbow.
The plan was simple: Laro would draw Teresa’s attention with a frontal assault. Irene would bind her with her Divine Authority, allowing Laro and the ranger to follow up with a pincer strike.
To be fair, compared to other freshman teams, these three had some level of coordination.
But not enough.
Especially not against someone like Teresa—a hybrid of Divine Child and Divine Princess. Their strategy had form, but it lacked depth.
Even before Laro charged her, Teresa had already activated Divine Appraisal, scanning both him and the ranger behind him.
Neither of them had notable resistance stats—their Domain defenses were even weaker than Irene’s. Their Domain effects were unimpressive, with no noteworthy traits.
Their Divine Authorities were straightforward:
Laro’s Divine Authority was [Overwhelming Flurry], Level 5. It allowed him to lock onto a target and interfere with their perception during attacks, making his punches seem to come from unpredictable directions—an illusion-based combat technique.
Hence his nickname in class: “Phantom Fist” Laro. His punches weren’t actually fast—it just looked like it, thanks to the visual deception.
This ability drained Divine Power over time but was low-cost—he could keep it active indefinitely.
The ranger’s Divine Authority was [Voodoo Secret], Level 3. It allowed her to imbue toxins onto sharp weapons without notice. Alchemy poisons could do the same, but this skill was cheaper and stealthier—very efficient for surprise attacks.
It was clear her crossbow bolts were poisoned. If one pierced the skin and entered the bloodstream, it would be a real problem.
As for Irene’s Divine Authority, Teresa had already experienced it firsthand in a past fight.
The trio—without a Divine Child—had no idea about Teresa’s Domain or Divine Authority. But Teresa, through Divine Appraisal, had already stripped their secrets bare.
In terms of information warfare, they had already lost badly.
It was obvious: these greenhorn Divine Princesses didn’t understand how vital a Divine Child was in combat.
Catching the surge of dark power within Irene through Divine Appraisal, Teresa knew a Divine Authority strike was incoming. She deactivated the appraisal and used her Elf sensitivity to locate the casting angle. With a quick sidestep, she narrowly dodged a thorned black vine that whipped past her shoulder.
“Impossible?!” Irene’s eyes widened in disbelief.
Her ability allowed her to release vines from any direction, silently, within 360 degrees—making it impossible for enemies at this level to dodge.
She had never even considered that Teresa could avoid her attack.
The ranger behind Irene was equally shocked—but she didn’t forget the weapon in her hands.
After quietly poisoning her bolt, and taking advantage of Teresa’s sidestep—when inertia left her unable to immediately move—the ranger fired.
To her credit, her timing was impeccable. With Teresa mid-movement, it was physically impossible for her to dodge the shot.
Confidence filled the ranger’s heart. Her lips curved into a smirk. This time I’ve earned some serious merit.
“TANG—TANG!”
A crisp, metallic ring echoed.
And the ranger’s smile froze.
As expected, the arrow hit its mark—right at Teresa’s chest. And then...
It bounced off harmlessly.
It hadn’t pierced her skin at all.
The bolt ricocheted with a thud, and those two full, snow-white “pre-equipped armors” wobbled softly from the impact.
That’s cheating, right?! That kind of size... had defensive utility?!
Shock turned into envy.
Wait no... that’s not right. Even those shouldn’t have been enough to bounce off a crossbow bolt.
Could it be the Domain?
To deflect a physical projectile like that… her physical defense stat must be maxed out!
The ranger guessed correctly: Teresa’s ability to repel the bolt wasn’t thanks to her "armor" alone—it was her Divine Princess Domain. But not because of physical resistance—in fact, her Domain had none.
No physical defense. No elemental resistances either.
Divine Princess Domain: [Sanctuary of Sacred Wood] (LV1)
Teresa cannot wield bows made of anything but wood.
While wielding a wooden bow, she enters the protection of her Domain:
All forms of attack are completely blocked.
Her bow’s durability is significantly enhanced.
All damage is absorbed by the bow rather than her body.
While wielding the bow, Teresa can:
Use her Divine Power to conjure Light Arrows, which deal Divine Authority damage.
Fire Overcharged Light Arrows at higher Divine Power cost.
This was the first half of her Domain’s effect.
The second half…Was her trump card.
In essence, Teresa’s Domain provided no base resistances. Neither Divine Authority nor magical attacks were mitigated through stats.
But—everything could be blocked by the bow itself.
Of course, that didn’t mean she was invincible. Her bow, even reinforced, could still break if subjected to too many hits—especially from Divine Authority attacks.
Normal slashes and stabs? The bow could take dozens with no problem. But repeated Divine Authority strikes? Eventually, the bow would snap.
That’s why the type of wood mattered so much.
Hence her choice: Whitebirch. It might not be the most elastic, but it had superior toughness.
And for now, against a poisoned crossbow bolt? More than enough.
