As a result of magic, humanity was losing that creativity that had made them the great species that they are today. Humanity treated magic as a higher power that they could lean on, and they worshiped it as their new god. But humanity was too foolish to know what they were inviting into their own world. Humans thought that the worst danger they could face from magic were rogue superhumans that were threatening their lives or magical beasts from mediocre gates. Even in the most developed countries in the world with large military facilities and soldiers, it would only take the actions of one high-level superhuman to completely eradicate the population of a region and erase a city from the map. Certain humans on Earth had the sort of power that had only been associated with mythological gods in fiction. But humans knew that they had both the SMD and the Enforcers protecting them. Was there a rogue superhuman? There's no need to fear; the Enforcers will step in and take care of it. Was there a superhuman trying to threaten civilians? No need to fear, the SMD will handle it.
'Just like foolish cattle. They happily welcome the wolves into their fold, not knowing a thing about the real world. They do not know that they are about to be devoured.'
A fair man with long blonde hair that flowed behind him with the wind and a deep scowl on his face felt his mood sour as he watched the long line of cars moving over the bridge below him. He was currently standing on top of the highest point on the Vincent Thomas Bridge that passes over the Los Angeles Harbor, and he had on a long coat that flapped behind him like a cape from the harsh winds from so high up. But the man didn't even look like he cared.
This man was Yuslev, the leader of the New Order and one of the five Rulers who had sworn to save this world. The world thought that Yuslev was a madman. They looked at him, and they only saw a murderer who wanted to bring about the eradication of all superhumans. But Yuslev couldn't blame the world. The fools didn't know any better, so this is what was expected. What were a few million lives in the grand scheme of things? What were a few deaths in the pursuit of salvation? Ever since the world discovered magic and mana, they thought that they had gained the holy grail. They felt like they were invincible creatures that could never be toppled by anything in this world, but unlike these fools, Yuslev knew the truth. Yuslev had seen it all that day inside of the green gate. He had seen the monsters that were really out there. The creatures with powers beyond what any human mind could comprehend. The true masters of this world. In front of creatures like that, what were humans, if not ants? They were nothing! Yuslev had been lost for a long time after coming out of that gate. The world had respected him and his comrades and celebrated them as the five Rulers, but Yuslev knew the truth. They weren't saviours or Rulers. They were no different from all the other fools in this world. Cattle waiting to be slaughtered.
Humanity treated mana like it was the solution to all their problems, but mana was nothing but a virus! It was a virus that had poisoned the human race and weakened them! Humanity was too blind to see how this power had exposed them to things far outside of their comprehension! Humanity stood naked in the dark, and mana acted as the light beam that drew in the deadly monsters from the dark corners of the Primordial Expanse! Mana wasn't a blessing to anyone! It was nothing but a curse!
So then, what would be the solution to this problem? That was simple. Since Mana was what had caused humanity to be exposed to the rest of the Primordial Expanse, getting rid of this mana would also allow us to become invisible again! This thought process is what had found root in Yuslev's mind after years of contemplation! Yuslev couldn't think of any other way! Humanity had been thriving and growing strong before the discovery of mana, so the only way to bring humanity back to its golden age was to get rid of every single superhuman that possessed the ability to use mana!
Yuslev had already dealt a massive blow to two major countries in the world. His home country Germany had suffered the loss of multiple guilds after Yuslev took them down on his own, and after reaching Australia, he managed to kill thousands of superhumans with the help of those who joined his cause! There were a few hiccups along the way when the Enforcers showed up, but it wasn't something too much for Yuslev to handle.
'But that white-haired woman was troublesome. Her power was very irritating to handle. I wish I could have killed her before we retreated.'
Sting!
Yuslev felt a phantom pain from his left rib when he thought about Agiel, and he frowned as he rubbed it softly. Agiel had really put up a fight against him, and Yuslev knew that if not for the fact that he was the stronger superhuman between the two of them, then he would have lost to Agiel's superior fighting instincts. Most superhumans had no idea how to deal with someone who could nullify all their attacks like Agiel!
Yuslev shook his head to get rid of those thoughts. The attack on Australia had been a success, and that was all that mattered, but Yuslev knew that they couldn't slow down. He had started a movement now, and hundreds of thousands of people were pledging loyalty to his cause, but every movement needed constant motion. If you slow down for even a second, then you would lose the interest of the masses! Yuslev had to do something even bigger, and he had to do it now!
[The convoy is on its way, sir. We've confirmed that there are at least thirty different guild captains and vice captains in the convoy. And we also got word from our members in Core City. Everything is in place.]
A man spoke in German over the phone, and Yuslev responded calmly.
"Well done, Mikel. The sacrifices of our patriots will be remembered…"
Yuslev crouched and watched as a long line of cars slowly came into view. The cars were all black Range Rovers with tinted windows, but they all had the symbol of the SMD printed into their side to show that they were official vehicles. There were twelve trucks in the convoy, and each one of the trucks was currently transporting Guild captains from all around America from an annual Superhumans Conference that was held in Los Angeles every year. The conference was something that the SMD had created to develop the relationships between various guild leaders in the country and allow them to work better together. It wasn't very popular amongst the higher-ranking guilds, but a lot of C and B Rank guilds, like the Panthers guild that Gina had been a part of went to the conference every year since having a good relationship with other guild leaders would make it easier to form alliances and carry out collaborations.
Right now, the guild leaders were on their way out of Los Angeles after the conference ended, and Yuslev decided that they were not going to be making it home. Yuslev needed motion in order to draw more people to his movement, and what better way to gain motion and recognition than to assassinate the leader of all the major guilds in a country while also taking out a majority of the young superhumans being trained by the country? The other members of the New Order were already present in Core City, so Yuslev didn't need to worry about that side of the plan. The members in the core City would commit suicide to pass on the message, but their death wouldn't be in vain. It would be the catalyst that sparks the light of change in the world.
