"Haaa… does that mean we're done at last?"
The last of the objectives were fulfilled and along with them, the quest was complete as well.
"Well, that took a while." He was tired after that long mental analysis.
He just fell to the ground, his body covered in sweat, drained of any energy it contained just until a moment ago.
There was no certain way to deal with something so complicated. His mind was a mess right now…
'Not many civilisations have survived after denying their god.'
He knew about various civilisations that were absorbed into the tower as their worlds collapsed.
The god of first light, in fact, may have been a completely different entity altogether before the tower invaded their world and the 'god' was replaced by 'something' else entirely.
'There are many things that one does not understand about the gods of the tower…'
Many players who chose to go under a god and succeed in their powers in any way would also share the laws and beliefs that they are composed of.
They aren't free of the sins that they have committed just because they are divine though. And their followers share their sins.
"The goddess of light and purity is, with her merits, a being superior to many of the other gods of the tower."
There are many gods within the tower but some of them have greater influence than the others.
When considering all the floors and not just the regional areas where certain gods have more dominance than the common religions of the tower, there are a few 'older' gods that stand out more than most.
The goddess of light and purity is one such entity. She is the light within the tower and she is the model that is followed to justify various actions.
Considered to be one of the representation of 'purity' the stat itself is sometimes said to have originated from her.
'She is not an easy target to get rid of. The only reason I was able to report her in that scenario was because she got a little too careless.'
With the resources she possesses and the humiliation she had suffered already, it is highly likely that they were going to face challenges on the higher floors, as well as the floors that are dominated by her influence.
"This might push us to turn to the forces opposing her."
And ironically, one of the forces that are constantly in clash with the goddess, are the followers of the great Lust.
"Fuck my life…" one will want to kill him and obliterate his entire existence while the other wants his body and mind as their own.
If one decides to help the other in any way, he will be in the middle of a goddess and demon's clutches. If he is careless, he will really lose everything to those higher beings.
'Like before…'
It was a game that he could play once again even though it was played from the start with nothing on him. Still, he had a chance in that world, but here, with only one life and everything on the stake, mistakes like that would cost him more than just his own life.
The suffering will be shared to everyone close to him… and the suffering of his family was the last thing he wanted to see within this lifetime.
"Haaaa. So, we have to be careful."
KiRA faced the ceiling, his body still exhausted. Uni was tired after using the skills for so long as well so she was taking a break beside him.
He had still not received the rewards from the quest that he had suffered so much for, so he was waiting there instead of starting the pack-up.
"Still though, I'm not sure if they'll just let us be after not being there for so long." KiRA wondered what would happen to him once he returned home.
Three months have already passed and it has been over a week over the three months that he was supposed to be out.
Messages through the private forum kept the family informed, but they could not have conversations through this interference. Not like the ones they wanted to have with the boy who had gone so far for so long.
"Aunt Su has been throwing a tantrum for a while now, so that's another issue I'll have to deal with."
But he can put those things to a side for the time being.
[Ding!]
[Reward calculation for the quest: Rune of Tatar Holy Lands has been concluded.]
It was a big quest, and he had already obtained a lot since coming here. But, the quest rewards are always something special.
[You have been rewarded: 50,000 IX.]
[You have been rewarded: Purity (+6).]
[You have been rewarded: Stamina (+6).]
[You have been rewarded: Holy power (+3).]
[As a cumulative achievement reward, you will be granted <Ring of skill access> {A-Rank}.]
[For successfully completing the quest, you will be granted a <Question voucher>.]
[As an additional reward, <Crystal of full recovery> will be awarded.]
"Wow…"
An item that can recover him to complete health, an item that even the gods fight over, and an item that can grant him access to skills that are restricted.
"All that suffering wasn't for nothing, alright." He was at least happy with these rewards.
They were good, they were going to be great or perhaps invaluable in certain situations.
"But we should at least go back now."
Now that everything was done and he had obtained everything there was to get from these ruins, he needed to get out of here and reach the gates of the city.
"They are going to be surprised, haha." According to the protocol of the association, they would send people to look for the players who had gone into this desert area after a month.
All those who had taken more than a month and half were pronounced gone and the association didn't concern itself with them anymore.
The news wasn't sent to their families unless the corpse was found, but they still sent them a warning that they might never come back.
'No one had come back after spending such a long time here.'
The desert was deadly so just surviving here for so long was considered to be a great feat. So, once they saw him back, the people at the city office were going to have a few questions for him.
'Well, we can deal with that much after all this.'
He rested, looked for anything else he could take from this ruin, and found the exit that had appeared when he finished his quest.
The exit opened right outside of the front gate that he saw when he first arrived here, another one of their architectural wonders, and he shook his head with a bitter smile.
Those people were pretty creative, as well as amazing to have created these structures…
[{ Master, will we fly back? }]
"Now that you're stronger, the sync should last longer, right? Let's do that."
He did not wait further and synced their senses, and then their bodies as wings appeared behind him once again and he flew away.
The travel back was easier since he now knew about the routes of the sandwyrms and the creatures that were appearing around these parts of the desert.
He did not stop to hunt anywhere and focused only on the resources that were present around him. As his sync time came to a close, he chose a spot where they could make a camp for the time being and spend the night there.
He repeated the same things for two days straight and focused on travelling back as efficiently as possible.
Unlike when they were searching for the ruins, they did not have to look around too much this time. They had their map which had all the places they had gone to marked on it, making things much easier for them.
Three days passed in the blink of an eye, and they had finally reached the gates of the association.
"Hmm? Another player?"
"Has anyone supposed to return today?"
"No? It must be someone who went in a while back. Let's check who we have here."
The people that were guarding the gates connecting the city area and the gate that opened into the fields spotted KiRA and thought he was someone who had gone in a few days ago.
But, when he returned and showed them his ID, the reaction from them was just as he had expected.
"I don't remember this one."
"Check the logs. I'll wait here."
The two guards were confused but they followed what they were supposed to do, then, when the guard that went in came back running, the scene that unfolded was just within Kai's expectations.
"Sir, please come with us!" They first led him inside, calling their superiors and informing them about the situation.
Someone who had gone into the field more than a month ago had just returned. A few of the tower's floors had been cleared in the meantime and, the fact that KiRA was connected to the people who were leading the tower clears was a big deal.
Most people connected to the association knew Ziggy's name, and the master of Trailblazer wasn't unknown anymore either.
They were in the spotlight, and the same should have been the case with the person the closest to them, the holy power user that was the talk of the town until a few months ago.
