Nightmares Paradise [LITRPG System Integration]

Chapter 138 [Mine Is The Three Seas Of Knowledge]

Both Eis and Rana started glowing several moments after Jon accepted the System integration notice for the Fragment Of Bodhisattva and Fragment Of Devil. The concepts contained within each fragment was swiftly absorbed by both the bodhi tree and winter demon spirit, half-combining and half-layering on top of preexisting concepts and laws.

This was one of the greater advantages of possessing summoned companions.

Jon himself was not required to integrate the new fragment himself, observing both of his summoned companions and the subtle transformations the pair were experiencing.

What he thought was a white spherical cocoon of spiritual energy manifested around the Earthen Treasury Womb and White Lady Of The Winter Castle. Such a potent amount of mana engulfing both of their forms that not even his Minerva-Sagacity Eyes were capable of piercing through.

The whole process did not take more than five minutes, in which Jon, nor Avahni, nor Wilheim, Sariel, Shamael or Aerilayna turn away for even a second.

Ru Luan Di, Ortlinde, Titus Claudius, Annwn Boann, Huo Liyu, and Lucia Zenobia all watched as their fellow summoned companions ascended from Mortality to Knighthood.

Even a certain indomitus shastasaurus rose up from the depths of his murky abode and observed the transformation Schwarz Eis with a particular level of interest.

Jon however glanced towards his status page, observing the subtle changes of two abilities.

Although neither Rana nor Eis had yet to complete their physical transformation, the addition of their Knight Ranked abilities had been finalized within a matter of moments. The two were much more experienced than Jon in regard to the manipulation of fragments and their control over concepts and laws.

Name: Jonathan Randall Guilliman Age: 19 Rank: Knight Tier: Veinless Title: [Princeps Of The Wandering Mutation]

[Fragment Of Tree] [Ashvattha Rana Devi; Earth Reincarnation Womb] (Summon, Knowledge, Tree, Spell, Buff) (Bodhisattva)

Effect (Knight): Ashvattha Rana Devi elevates itself from a Mortal Ranked bodhi tree into a Knight Ranked bodhi deva tree. While active, the contractor and designated allies within range of the image of Ashvattha Rana Devi are granted instances of [Bodhisattva Naraka] and [Bodhisattva Niraya] up to a maximum threshold.

[Bodhisattva Naraka]: Refines a single affliction using knowledge natured spiritual energy. Transforms said affliction into a miniscule amount of spiritual energy. Stacks are consumed at a one-to-one ratio.

[Bodhisattva Niraya]: Individuals afflicted with [Bodhisattva Niraya] that activate abilities with the Recovery Trait have the effects of said ability mimicked by Ashvattha Rana Devi. Stacks are consumed at a one-to-one ratio.

[Fragment Of Summon] [Schwarz Eis Seir; White Devil Of The Ninth Circle] (Summon, Ice, Spirit, Spell, Defensive, Shield, Spell, Memento, Debuff) (Devil)

Effect (Knight): Schwarz Eis Seir elevates herself from a Mortal Ranked winter demon spirit into a Knight Ranked ice devil spirit. Schwarz Eis Seir is now capable of shifting between [Ice Devil] and [Ice Spirit] states.

[Ice Devil]: Transforms physical characteristics into that of an ice devil. Increases physical size, speed, strength, agility and endurance. Attacks made will inflict instances of [Frozen Blood] and [Frozen Spirit]. Attacks received will inflict instances of [White Blood] and [White Spirit] on enemies. Prevents manifestation of ice barriers.

[Ice Spirit]: Transforms physical characteristics into that of an ice spirit. Physical ice shields will now also inflict instances of [White Blood]. Spiritual ice shields will now also inflict instances of [White Spirit]. Gains the ability to fly.

[White Blood]: Reduces physical strength. Additional stacks have an additive effect.

[White Spirit]: Inflicts a continuous ice-natured damage over time effect. Ice natured spiritual energy freezes emotions and feelings, causing damage to the mind and spirit. Additional stacks have an additive effect.

Jon raised an eyebrow, observing their Knight Ranked abilities.

Although their Mortal Ranked abilities had not experienced any changes, Eis had told him that with each ascension their base characteristics and effects would experience a slight increase in effectiveness.

Most abilities possessed set effects which scaled depending on how much spiritual energy was poured into them.

As a Mortal Jon knew that placing one hundred percent of his wood natured spiritual energy into his Fragment Of Barrier would manifest a wooden tree shields stretching over a hundred-metres in length if the height of the barrier was limited to two metres.

As a Knight however… well, that remained to be seen.

Of course that was without the influence of Lethe affecting the effectiveness of his abilities.

'Rana is now capable of refining debuffs into spiritual energy. And is now even able to heal herself whenever I use [Green Is The Flesh, As Red Is The Blood] or when Sariel uses [Tenderness Is The Gentle Hand Of Spring].'

'Wait, she would even be able to mimic Despoina's Spell effects! [Healing Flame] and [White Harmony]! She can even heal at range now!'

'And Eis! She's gained an ice devil form and an ice spirit form!? Physical enhancements or the ability to fly!? On top of being able to afflict additional debuffs with her physical and magical shields!'

One might as well have put wings on a tiger.

The effects of [Licht Weiss; Right-Hand Of Winter] did not change, however.

Eis would have to integrate another fragment into Licht Weiss in order for it to gain its Knight Ranked effects but knew that she had her eye set on a Fragment Of Chainmail. The additional defensive concepts would synergize well with the preexisting Fragment Of Armour, boosting if effects even further.

Noticing something flicker across the spherical white cocoons Eis and Rana were placed within, Jon lifted his head, seeing that the bubble-shaped construct had started disappearing into motes of mana. The one engulfing the bodhi tree was significantly large than the one enveloping the winter demon spirit, although seemed to unravel quicker in comparison.

His eyes widening as he observed the changes made to the Earth Reincarnation Womb.

For one thing, Rana had gotten substantially larger.

Her original appearance was about twelve metres tall with a canopy that stretched over twenty-four metres from one side to the other. The roots that made up her vital organs were even longer and more numerous, being able to extend close to a hundred metres in any direction around her.

Now, the bodhi deva tree was over thirty-six metres in height, with a canopy that stretched over ninety metres in diameter. The thickness of her roots and tendrils had more than tripled and the sheer number of leaves that she possessed astounded Jon observing her with his Knight Ranked senses.

Lowering his head and glancing towards the ground, he could feel that the number of roots she possessed had increased as well. Four, or perhaps even five times the number that she had as a Mortal Ranked bodhi tree.

The soft golden-green glow of the Earth Reincarnation Womb had grown even stronger as well. Bathing Jon, and all of his companions in the gentle radiance of trees and bodhisattvas.

Schwarz Eis on the other hand-.

"Hmm?" Jon tilted his head to the side, noticing that Eis had not changed in the slightest.

The ice devil spirit's eyes flickered open before a small smile pulled at the corner of her mouth. With a not-so-subtle burst of spiritual energy from within herself, her summoner watched as her figure expanded and her once beautiful appearance morphing into something horrific and terrifying.

Her pale, almost inhumane skin colour turned corrupted and vile as black-veins stretched out from chest, spreading across her torso and limbs. Her figure grew slouched, but her height increased, growing taller than even Jon himself.

Her limbs elongated and the sounds of bones crackling in her legs caused Avahni and Shamael to wince, turning away from the transformation process. The plantigrade structure of her legs had morphed into digitigrade structure, closer to that of a canine more than anything else.

Her long silver hair gained black highlights to it, as her facial expressions grew twisted and grotesque. The corners of her mouth seemed to grow, threatening to exceed the limitations of her face, revealing blackened fangs and a tongue that seemed too long to be natural.

The bharal horns that Jon associated with Schwarz Eis had grown even thicker, with several bony protrusions sprouting all across them. Wisps of ice natured spiritual energy wafted off her form, as if the vile stench that clung to a rotting corpse.

The ice devil spirit stepped forward, talons now sprouting from where her toes once were. The ground beneath her feet crackled and froze from the ice natured spiritual energy she released, grinning as she lowered her head to look down at her summoner.

"Now the monster within, matches the monster without, don't you think Jonathan?" Eis asked, her voice deep and penetrating but still distinctly feminine.

Despite her words, Jon could feel a sense of uncertainly bloom from within his Fragment Of Summon. The subtlest echoes of worry and insecurity that he would not have associated with the White Lady Of The Winter Castle.

Although perhaps now, the White Devil Of The Ninth Circle.

Lifting his arm, Jon placed his hand softly on the much larger face of the ice devil spirit, shaking his head and giving her a small smile.

"Then we can be monsters together. "What was once two, shall now become one," right?" He responded, causing his summoned companion to pause before smiling, nodding her head before lowering herself, bending her monstrous form so that she knelt before Jon.

"I could not have asked for a better master," Eis said, prompting Rana to interject, not wanting to be left out.

"Neither could I Jon," Said the bodhi deva tree, "Not all masters are quite so accepting in the fragments that we desire to integrate. You could have forced us to integrate concepts that we are not familiar with, manifesting abilities with random effects."

"It means a lot that you trust us with this. More so than what you can understand." Rana said.

Jon just smiled, shaking his head with a slight shrug of his shoulders.

"Well, now that the two of you are Knights, summoning you two again would now require two fragments instead of just one. So neither of you are able to die again okay? I don't think my wallet would be able to withstand such a loss," Jon said jokingly, prompting Eis to nudge him with her horns.

A dull sense of amusement bleed into him from his Fragment Of Tree and Fragment Of Summon, brining a smile to his face before turning back towards his other companions. He could see Wilheim and Sariel both staring at him, still shocked at his sudden ascension to Knighthood.

While Avahni and Shamael both peered at the forms of the Earth Reincarnation Womb and White Devil Of The Ninth Circle, wondering if all of their summoned companions would experience such dramatic transformations.

Aerilayna on the other hand, had long since collapsed onto the ground, the strength in her knees leaving her as she felt the incredible amounts of spiritual energy that flowed into him. She was initially unsure of what Jon was doing, but swiftly realized that he had become a Knight, mouth dropping as she observed the process from her seated position.

Jon noticed Ru Luan Di give him a small nod, returning the gesture.

His attention returned to his two summoned companions, noticing Rana prod his side with one of her branches.

"You were going to integrate fragments as well right?" She asked.

Jon nodded in response, manifesting another fragment from out of his Red Archives.

This one, had quite the peculiar looking structure.

It was shaped similar to that of an ellipsoid, but curved along its vertical axis, given Jon the impression that it possessed multiple faces. Each face was coloured a slightly different shade of blue, almost imperceptible to the mortal eye.

When Jon initially thought about improving [Mine Is The Sea Of Knowledge], he considered integrating fragments such as a Fragment Of Palace to give more structure to his imaginary mental construct or even a Fragment Of World, hoping to turn his imagination into a false small realm.

What he had initially settled on was a Fragment Of Duality, hoping to split his Sea Of Knowledge into two layers to two distinct mental constructs. However, amongst the fragments that he had obtained from the Sunlit-Inferno Lagoon was one similar, yet arguably better than a Fragment Of Duality.

Fragment Of "Trinity" discovered.

Would you like to integrate this into [Mine Is The Sea Of Knowledge], [Monstrous Intuition], [Cometh Thy Red Horse Awaits] [Eyes Through The Looking Glass] …

Grinning Jon selected the option at the very top of the list.

Causing ripples to stretch out across the surface of his Sea Of Knowledge. The layering of concepts related to "trinity," "three," and "triumvirate" stacked on top of the preexisting concepts of "knowledge," "mind," and "ocean."

Expanding the depths of his Sea Of Knowledge, birthing additional effects from his imaginary mental construct.

[Fragment Of Mind] [Mine Is The Three Seas Of Knowledge] (Knowledge, Mind, Passive, Ability, Enhancement, Resistance, Self) (Trinity)

Effect (Knight): Transform the inherent structure of the Sea Of Knowledge, splitting the imaginary mental construct into three distinct layers. Guf forms the first layer. Tehom forms the second layer. Hadal forms the third layer. Each layer manifests a mental shield of knowledge natured spiritual energy that prevents intrusion, damage and debilitating effects.

Guf: Slightly increases the effectiveness of all abilities with the Self Trait.

Tehom: Slightly increases the effectiveness of all abilities with the Emotion Trait.

Hadal: Slightly increases the effectiveness of all abilities with the Spirit Trait.
