The orc reached a checkpoint, but it was manned by humans. There was no way those orcs back there had passed here with those humans in plain sight.
If they did, there would be no need to hide Byung the way they did if a few gold coins could make them look the other way.
The humans knew the merchant, and they were used to seeing him with female orcs. He let the orcs sleep with them sometimes if they caught his eye.
"You got a good-looking one today," one of the humans said. He stared right at her breasts, but this was to be expected.
Maui locked eyes with him and could see the dirty look on his face. There was only one thing on his mind.
For a race that hated orcs, they sure liked to stick their cocks in them.
Maui was getting tired of this constant objectification, but it was also because of it that she could have her way in many situations.
The orc shook his head. This told them she wasn't one of those orcs.
"Are you telling us no?" the human asked with a raised brow.
He was clearly mad about this answer, and the orc looked worried.
"Trust me. I will bring twice the women next time," the orc bargained. But there was something about being told no that rubbed them the wrong way.
They wanted her even more now. It wasn't about the orc anymore. It was about control.
"Hey, bitch, get down!" the human yelled.
The other one with him had stayed quiet the whole time, but there was no doubt he agreed with his partner.
Maui sighed. She looked at the orc beside her, and he wondered what she was about to do. Fighting was the last thing they needed, since they had a camp nearby that they could easily call for help.
This was a popular smuggling route, so the law didn't apply here.
"Search it," Maui said. The humans were confused for a moment by this.
The whole thing was to bribe them so they wouldn't search the cargo.
But if they did search it, it was the orc who would suffer in the long run. They might start to search all his future deliveries.
This would be bad. He had to find a way to calm them down right here and now.
He quickly dug into his pocket and took out three gold coins for each of them. He handed the coins over.
"I'm really sorry about this. I will make it up to you next time," the orc said sorry.
The humans were slow to agree at first, but in the end, this was enough to change their minds.
"Fine! You're a lucky bitch!" the human barked. But Maui didn't pay them much attention.
This low behavior was below her, and this was enough to get them past the border.
"That was close! What were you thinking!?" the orc barked at Maui. He was clearly mad about her interference.
"Do you really think they would search a cargo full of shit?" Maui asked.
They kept their personal hygiene even this far out, which meant these humans didn't like to get dirty.
There was no way they were getting their hands and bodies dirty.
"And what about next time?" the orc asked. It was clear Maui wasn't thinking about the future of his business.
And why should she? It wasn't like she would need him after today, even though the future was never that simple.
"Oh, I don't care what happens to you after today," Maui answered bluntly.
"No wonder Borg wanted you dead," the orc blurted out in anger. But he quickly tried to take back his words because he didn't mean it.
But before he could, he heard a faint chuckle from Maui.
She wasn't offended by that statement.
Instead, she found it funny.
They kept traveling, and they could see more and more humans living in small villages.
The humans looked at these creatures with no strong feeling because they had seen them far too often.
"There are so many humans," Maui muttered under her breath.
She had never seen so many before, so it was only natural for her to be surprised by this.
"You haven't seen anything yet…" the orc said. They soon stopped in the middle of a small village where farmers and fishermen mostly lived.
"Are you sure this is a good idea?" Maui asked him. One thing she had learned was that humans were unpredictable.
They might dislike orcs as much as they disliked goblins, but the goblins had a stronger bad name.
This was why orcs weren't a rare sight. They had contact with humans often.
This was why the tension between them even existed in the first place.
The question was, would seeing a goblin get the same calm reaction?
The orc knew these locals quite well because he had used part of the money he earned to help them.
This was to buy their silence, but these humans saw him as kind.
After all, the reason for a kind act doesn't matter as long as it helps the people getting it.
The humans gathered around the orc. Maui was surprised by how hungry most of them looked.
She looked over her shoulder and noticed a few on the street who couldn't even move because of hunger.
This was a fishing village, but the river had run dry. There were only a few fish, and it wasn't enough to feed everyone.
The fishermen had to eat because they needed the strength the most.
Then they shared the rest. It was enough to keep the people alive, but they were still suffering from hunger.
"This place is…" Maui always thought all humans lived a life full of paradise and wealth.
This was an eye-opener because these humans looked worse than even the goblins.
Byung couldn't take it anymore and jumped out of the carriage to get some fresh air.
He could hear the orc and Maui talk, so he knew they must have arrived at their stop.
But the way he looked was like a monster. He was not only covered in his own poop, but it was formed in a way that made it look like there was a horn on his forehead.
"That fool…" the orc muttered. Before he could say another word,
every human around him ran into their shelters. Even the humans on the streets crawled away, and Maui realized they just couldn't walk. That was why they were lying the way they were.
Byung noticed the humans running away and had the dumbest idea to chase a few just for fun.
"I'm going to eat you!" Byung screamed, and fearful cries filled the air.
Byung knew these humans must have been scared out of their minds, but he didn't care at that moment.
Byung let his quick thoughts win until two humans stood in front of him with spears in their hands.
They weren't fighters because Byung had fought real fighters, and these ones were full of openings.
Byung stopped in his tracks, still laughing like he had done the funniest thing. But then it hit him.
"Oh shit, I forgot I'm a goblin," Byung said. His laugh stopped right away as he looked over his shoulder to Maui for help.
Breathing in all that poop must have messed with his brain, and Maui was beside him in a second.
"Gentlemen, gentlemen, there is no need for all of that," the orc said as he joined them.
"We didn't agree to this, and whatever that little shit is!" the farmer on the right barked.
Byung chuckled a little before putting on his serious face right away, but he wasn't fooling anyone.
Maui could tell he was trying his hardest not to laugh because they had called him a little shit while he was literally covered in shit.
It was a pun they didn't know about, and Byung's body suddenly jerked forward as he screamed.
"BOOOO!"
Both humans fell onto the ground, landing their butts on the hard dirt, and Byung lost it.
He laughed like he had done the funniest thing, and the humans, hidden but watching, also found this a bit funny.
"I'm no monster! I'm just covered in shit!" Byung screamed at the top of his lungs to tell everyone what was wrong with him.
The humans slowly started to come out but stayed careful. He thought these two men on the floor were brave. They were scared but still ready to protect their home.
There was nothing funny about that, and Byung reached out his hand to help them up.
"I like people like you," Byung said. But the humans were not going to take his hand after he said what he was covered in.
It was almost like the smell had been hidden, but the wave of stink hit them at the same time.
"Fair enough," Byung answered. The way he spoke their language was easy.
It was like he was one of them, and this surprised both the orc and Maui.
Byung's system let him understand and speak all languages without trying, so there was no problem with talking.
Byung didn't know about these changes because all languages sounded like one to him.
"H-He speaks their language?" the orc asked Maui. But Maui couldn't answer because she was just finding out too.
It took orcs years to learn the human language, but Byung, who had no way to learn it, was suddenly good at it without practice.
Byung needed a shower. This was the most important thing right now.
"I need a shower," Byung told the men who were slowly getting up. But he noticed one had hurt his ankle.
He was limping, and Byung knew he caused this, so he was going to take blame for it… after he showered.
