Ilyna raised a wall of stone between them, and Gregory's claws smashed into it, shattering the barricades into fragments.
Thankfully she had already moved away from his range and was trying to circle around him with her staff glowing slightly as she prepared another spell.
She swept her staff in a wide arc, and the ground beneath Gregory shifted violently. A wave of earth rose up like a tidal surge, rolling toward him with crushing force.
Gregory had both hands crossed over his face and braced himself. The wave crashed into him, and for a moment he was buried under tons of earth and rock.
The crowd gasped.
But then the rubble exploded outward after a howl from Gregory buried underneath erupted with such force.
He stood back up with eyes glowing like a beast's, and he charged forward on all fours, closing the distance between them in seconds.
"Multi earth wall" Ilyna whispered. This time, she created a series of stone barriers in rapid succession, each one rising just as Gregory smashed through the previous one.
Although he charged through like a raging bull, but each wall he hit slowed him down. Ilyna had her arm stretched out towards the incoming beast, waiting.
And just when he was in close proximity, she whispered "Disturb."
The spell activated, and Gregory felt it immediately. His mana flow stuttered and he stopped abruptly in his tracks.
For a moment, his transformation flickered.
But then he grinned,
"Nice try," he growled, his voice deep and bestial. "But if I was a caster, maybe that would've been a problem."
The disruption didn't matter. If he relied solely on casting spells, it would have slowed him down his aim to cast another spell but he was in transformed state, it did nothing more than make his form flicker for a moment.
Ilyna's eyes widened in disbelief. She had assumed that disrupting his mana flow would end his transformation, forcing him to recast it from the start.
Then Gregory threw his head back and let out a sonic howl that hurled her across the field.
"They're incredible," Laela said as she watched in awe.
Arianna nodded. "Yeah."
Without letting Ilyna a chance at recovery, Gregory shot forward even more aggressively, and in one single pounce, leaving a crater off in his position.
Ilyna had just lifted her head when she saw Gregory's clawed hand shoot forward. Her eyes widened as he caught her entire body in one powerful grasp.
"Concede," he said in that low, beastly voice. She struggled, trying to break free, but his grip only tightened.
"Concede," Gregory said again.
Realizing she had no way out, Ilyna gave a reluctant nod. Only then did he release her, letting her fall to the ground.
Thamoryn's voice rang out. "Winner, Gregory of Grey Demons!"
The crowd erupted. Some were on their feet, shouting Gregory's name. Others clapped for Ilyna, acknowledging the incredible fight she had put up.
Gregory's transformation ended and he walked back to his section, where his teammates clapped him on the back.
Elian glanced at him with those lazy eyes and gave a small nod.
Thamoryn stepped forward once more.
"On behalf of King Oberon," she began, "There'll be a short break before we proceed to the finals."
The crowd murmured with approval.
During the break, the rest of Ravens Grave members made their way down from the stands to the field where their five representatives stood. Katherine also descended from the captain's section and joined them.
Arianna and Laela immediately broke away and went to Aiden, who had come down with the others. Aiden wrapped her arms around him tightly, and Arianna pressed herself against his side.
Aiden smiled and stroked Laela's hair gently. "You did good against Pip," he said softly.
Laela looked up at him, her cheeks flushed, and smiled. "Thank you."
"You've all done well so far." Katherine commended them.
Then she asked the question that was on everyone's mind.
"Which one of you is going for the finals?"
There was this pause before Kayden spoke up. "I will."
Katherine studied him for a moment, then nodded. "Alright. No doubt, this Elian will be coming out for the Grey Demons, so Goodluck"
Kayden said nothing in particular except give
The break passed quickly, and everyone returned to their positions.
Thamoryn stepped forward once more.
"And now," she announced, "we come to the final match of the Tournament of Power."
The crowd fell silent for moment. Everyone watched this one really very intently.
"Will the representatives of Ravens Grave and Grey Demons, please step forward"
Kayden and Elian both stepped towards the Grand Magus after which used the protection spell on them both.
They both took their positions afterwards and then she raised her hand and dropped it.
"Begin!"
Kayden clasped his hands together, then pulled them apart, forming a sphere of crackling lightning between his palms before firing it toward Elian as a concentrated beam.
Elian, however, pulled out what looked like a wand, but it was actually a paintbrush. He waved it through the air, as if sketching on an invisible canvas.
A glowing diagram of swirling wind appeared before him, and in an instant, a gust of wind took shape, redirecting the lightning beam off its path. The bolt veered aside and crashed into the ground, splitting it apart with a sharp crack.
This was Elian's Art Magic. Magic which gave life to his imagination and creativity.
"Hm.." Kayden muttered, unsure what magic that was which deflected his lightning attack.
But in the crowds, Aiden was staring at a floating screen that had just popped up to notify him of a newly copied technique, "Art magic?" He muttered to himself.
Elian looked genuinely uninterested in the fight, as if he only wanted to get it over with.
With a quick, fluid wave of his paintbrush wand, he traced another glowing diagram into the air.
A moment later, a massive burst of lava exploded beneath Kayden's feet, shooting high into the sky.
"Art Magic: Volcanic Eruption."
But Kayden was faster than the eruption itself. He darted away at the last second, now floating off to the side with streaks of lightning crackling across his body.
"Now it's lava? What kind of magic does he even use?" Kayden muttered, clearly confused.
Other members of his team were unsure as well, but now that Innis was finally seeing it upclose, it now made sense why people say Elian's magic made the environment his to control.
