Chapter 243: 027: Great Knight!
Two months later, in the Deep Sea, within the Deep Blue Sea.
Today was a day worth commemorating for Lynch.
His strength had further advanced. However, this time it wasn’t from magic but from his knightly progression. After years of relentless effort, his mastery as a knight had finally taken that ultimate step—
[Knight Breathing Method max]
Staring at the newly completed entry on the system list, Lynch was full of emotion: It wasn’t easy!
Roughly estimating, from the time he began cultivating the Knight Breathing Method to now, it had been thirty to forty years. Given that the average lifespan in this world was around forty, this equated to more than half a lifetime for a normal person.
Throughout these three or four decades, Lynch had rarely stopped training. Rain or shine, day in and day out, he had finally reached the pinnacle in this moment.
Great Knight!
A legendary figure in the Human World, the ultimate peak every knight aspired to. Among the millions across the Seven Kingdoms, those who could achieve this level were no more than a handful, and now Lynch was one of them!
“Is this the power of a Great Knight?”
Lynch raised his hand, gazing intently at the dazzling golden Fighting Spirit coiling around his arm. At this moment, he felt as though an inexhaustible strength flooded his body. Every movement exuded raw, overwhelming power.
If knights were killing machines on the battlefield, then Great Knights were undoubtedly weapons of mass destruction—invincible entities!
They could effortlessly punch through heavy city walls with their bare hands. Ordinary blades and crossbow bolts could not even scratch their skin. Against such a formidable existence, numbers meant nothing.
Even magic of a transcendent nature held limited effectiveness against them…
Lynch looked up at the data panel.
Attributes: Strength 88, Agility 96, Constitution 86.
All three-dimensional attributes had exceeded eighty points, with his agility points nearing the one-hundred mark.
The average stat for ordinary humans hovered around one point. At this level, Lynch’s attributes had reached a ridiculous extent—he could only be described as superhuman.
And this wasn’t even the limit of a Great Knight.
According to current theories, after ascending to this rank, a Great Knight’s stats could still increase further. Depending on individual variances, the attributes could eventually reach around one hundred each.
At this stage, however, continued cultivation of the Knight Breathing Method became ineffective. Further improvements relied purely on natural training and the individual’s innate advantage.
“Let’s see how it performs!”
With that thought, Lynch enthusiastically headed to the ship’s deck.
It was late morning, and the outside conditions were calm and serene. The sunlight was warm, and a gentle ocean breeze softly swept by.
The sailors were gathered along one side of the ship, busy fishing off the railings.
Life on the monotonous expanse of the sea lacked abundant entertainment. Their options were limited to fishing, card games, and drinking. The latter two could be done anywhere, but the unique marine life in these mysterious waters made this a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
Thus, since the voyage began, any free moment found the sailors stationed on the deck, either fishing or observing the strange creatures of the sea.
Of course, the fishing lines they used were soft and thin, able to bear only a few kilograms of weight. If they snagged something large, the line would snap instantly. Having witnessed the terrifying sea monsters in these waters, they weren’t eager to provoke trouble they couldn’t handle.
At this moment, while the sailors fished, Grupa stood nearby with a notebook, jotting down observations. He was recording details of this entirely uncharted region of the sea for humanity.
Noticing Lynch stepping onto the deck, the sailors greeted him warmly:
“Master Wizard!”
“Master Wizard, care to join us in fishing?”
Over time, the crew had grown acquainted with Lynch. They had transitioned from their initial awe and fear of him to a more casual camaraderie.
While the social disparity between them would never disappear entirely, the sailors were no longer utterly tongue-tied or trembling when speaking to Lynch.
Walking over, Lynch teasingly asked, “Koster, any luck today?”
The short sailor named Koster, busily tugging on his fishing line, replied, “Almost there! Look over there—there’s a school of fish following us!”
Lynch approached and saw just as Koster had described. Several dozen meters away in the sea, a school of fish darted back and forth.
Lynch smirked. “Shall I stir things up for you all?”
Moving to the ship’s railing, he extended his right hand and summoned the Fearless Great Sword into his grasp.
“Huff!”
Letting out a light sigh, he gripped the sword and slashed sharply in the direction of the distant fish.
Instantly.
A brilliant golden radiance erupted from Lynch’s hand. Simultaneously, the sound of gusting wind filled the air as a massive amount of Wind Element converged from all directions, forming a crescent-shaped wind blade over ten meters wide at the sword’s edge.
With the sword-cut, the wind blade, amplified by the brilliant golden light, streaked outward with blinding speed.
“Screech!” A sharp sound of air being torn echoed.
The wind blade slashed through the sea, splitting the surface apart before striking the distant school of fish. An explosive boom followed as the entire school erupted like a bomb had detonated beneath the waves. Columns of seawater cascaded into the sky.
“Patter patter!”
Amidst the drenching spray, fish rained down onto the deck in all directions, accompanied by the crisp patter of water droplets. For a moment, it seemed as if a rainstorm had struck.
The sailors stood stunned, their mouths agape.
“Golden brilliance…”
“A Great Knight! That’s the golden Fighting Spirit of a Great Knight! The Master Wizard is also a Great Knight?!”
Even after witnessing countless astonishing feats from Lynch, the sailors found themselves awestruck once more. In their eyes, a Great Knight was as legendary and awe-inspiring as a Wizard.
Gripping his great sword, Lynch unleashed a few more wind blades, each causing massive blasts upon impact.
“The power has improved quite a bit… Feels like it’s almost reached thirty units…”
Over the years, Lynch had continuously researched Fighting Spirit, and this was one of his breakthroughs—a hybrid creation that fused Fighting Spirit with magic.
The base was the apprentice-level Low-level Magic [Wind Blade]. Lynch had discovered that infusing and triggering this spell with Fighting Spirit significantly enhanced its output, multiplying the spell’s original, meager energy several times over.
And now, as his Fighting Spirit density reached higher levels, the enhanced spell’s power had noticeably increased again.
“Fighting Spirit.”
Touching his chin, Lynch curiously observed the golden brilliance in his hand. “What exactly is this substance?”
…
After drifting across the sea for another two months, Lynch and his crew finally reached their destination: the Shadow Sea Domain.
However, upon arrival, they encountered a rather troublesome situation…
