After purifying his spiritual body, Saul discovered he had become much more sensitive to the magical and mental energy fluctuations of others.
For instance, he could now clearly distinguish that the Ophelia standing before him was not her true form.
He now stood atop the highest tower of the White Glass Castle.
This was also the tallest building in all of Sky City.
The massive tower had enormous floor-to-ceiling windows on all four sides, along with a huge instrument resembling an astronomical telescope, presumably used for observing the sky.
Though it was more likely a magical device designed to observe stargates.
“Why come here?” Saul asked, his hands hidden beneath his black wizard’s cloak as he stood before the floor-to-ceiling windows.
Outside the window stretched winding mountain paths, flanked by multi-story buildings of various styles. The pink-white Whisper Flowers had not withered even in autumn, thriving eternally under the nourishment of wizard flesh and blood.
Petals danced in the wind, drifting all the way to the edge of Sky City.
The once-bustling skyport had seen no airships coming or going for months, appearing somewhat desolate. In the distance hung a clear, full moon.
It seemed to hang distantly in the sky, yet also felt within arm’s reach, as if one could simply lift their hand and pluck the jade disc-like bright moon from the heavens to tuck into their chest.
Saul turned back, his face bearing an enigmatic smile. “Lady Ophelia, do you perhaps prefer the outdoors?”
Behind Saul, Ophelia unusually wasn’t wearing her deep blue gown. Instead, she had changed into a white form-fitting mermaid dress that at first glance resembled a white vase.
This time entering the White Glass Castle, there had been no Wizard Ona to guide the way. Instead, the Ophelia before him had personally greeted and led him here.
Ophelia crossed her arms, her skin glowing with a soft white radiance in the moonlight. “This place can receive starlight, which will benefit our upcoming experiment. If you’re not comfortable with it…”
Ophelia raised her arm and tapped the glass beside her.
The glass on all four sides suddenly changed from transparent to frosted, then from frosted to completely opaque white, as if automatically controlled.
The entire room was left with only a bit of moonlight filtering down from overhead, reflected by the white glass, casting everyone’s silhouette in a hazy glow.
It created an unreal sensation, as if falling into a dream.
If the person before him weren’t Ophelia, if it were some other woman, perhaps Saul could truly enjoy this evening.
But as things stood…
He slowly walked to the side of the white-dressed Ophelia, looking her up and down. “Lady Ophelia, you’ve chosen a fine setting, but isn’t there a problem with your choice of companion?”
Saul leaned forward, his chin nearly touching the snow-white hollow of her shoulder.
“I remember that what I wanted was you personally, wasn’t it?”
“Hehe… hehehehehe…”
Faced with Saul’s flirtatious behavior, Ophelia showed no anger, her body trembling lightly.
“I am right here.”
After speaking, without waiting for Saul to object, her graceful body suddenly began to transform.
It was as if a ladle of boiling water had been poured over an ice sculpture. That straight nose bridge, soft jawline, and slender neck all contracted and deformed under the scalding water.
A living person, a beautiful woman, actually melted and transformed bit by bit before Saul’s eyes.
This woman in the white dress transformed into a round-bottomed, narrow-necked white porcelain vase in just a few breaths.
Saul’s eyes trembled with shock, but he could sense the magical power within her still surging at high speed.
The transformation wasn’t finished yet.
Gradually, like the reverse evolution of the glass color change from before, the white porcelain vase slowly transformed from completely opaque white to completely transparent glass.
Saul’s expression changed dramatically.
This was the first time he had seen the scene inside the white porcelain vase.
It looked like limbs that had been through a meat grinder—blood plasma mixed with white fat, slowly rotating within the vase.
Though he couldn’t see Ophelia’s head or those intestine-like necks in this vase, he could occasionally glimpse some relatively intact organs in the blurred meat paste.
The mixture of limbs within the vase continued rotating, slowly revealing the side that had originally faced away from Saul.
What appeared on that side made Saul’s eyes widen as he sucked in a sharp breath.
Among the flesh and blood tissue that had turned to face him, there was actually half a human body mixed in.
Though this person had only half a face and half a torso remaining, Saul recognized her immediately.
It was actually Wizard Ona, who hadn’t appeared for quite some time!
She rotated slowly along with the tissue inside the vase, her pale face having lost its elasticity. As it rubbed against the vase wall, it became severely deformed, revealing the dark red muscle on the other side.
Even Saul, who had long been accustomed to corpses and mutated monsters, couldn’t help but feel a chill in his heart seeing the woman who had been alive and trying to seduce him just days ago reduced to this state.
“You killed her?” Saul couldn’t understand.
Had Ona also betrayed Ophelia?
But judging from Ona’s feelings toward Ophelia, she didn’t seem like someone who would betray her!
“Didn’t you dislike her?” Ophelia’s voice emanated from that mass of flesh and blood. “It just so happened that Ona had been rather dishonest lately, making some little moves. Naturally, I had to educate her.”
Was there such a destructive and irreversible method of education?
“What did she do?”
“She attempted to use some little toys to attract my attention, that’s all.”
Noticing Saul’s slight reaction, Ophelia said teasingly, “Are you very concerned about her? Or did you refuse her because you were actually shy? Hehe… If I had known, I would have chosen a different way to punish her. But it’s not too late now.”
Saul understood clearly that the “little toys” Ophelia referred to were probably the Cat’s Gratitude he had ordered Nathan to secretly spread.
Ona had used the Cat’s Gratitude to pray for good luck, but it might have affected Ophelia. As a fourth-rank wizard, she would naturally detect something amiss.
He just hadn’t expected that for such a small action, Ophelia would directly kill Ona!
Saul recovered from his shock, and even that slight relaxed smile disappeared. “No, I’m just somewhat surprised. Since Lady Ophelia is already here, let me make some preparations first.”
“Oh? Did you also make preparations before being with Pei’er?” Ophelia completely ignored Saul’s emotions, asking teasingly.
“You and Pei’er are different.” Saul replied casually. He noticed that in her meat paste state, Ophelia’s expression couldn’t be seen changing, but her rotation speed slightly quickened, as if she was also affected by emotional fluctuations.
“Pei’er and I have been together for over half a year. If you want to achieve results in one go, naturally I need to make more preparations.” Saul’s tone was steady, showing no sign of feeling threatened by Ophelia, as if what was about to happen was merely a complex experiment.
After speaking, without waiting for Ophelia to question him, he began drawing a magical formation on the ground.
Ophelia said nothing, quietly watching Saul use his magical power to draw complex runes on the white ceramic floor tiles.
Only when the magical formation gradually took shape did she softly ask, “Isn’t this the formation you use to connect to the Prismatic World?”
“No, there are some changes there.” Before Saul could explain, Ophelia had already spotted the differences between the two formations.
Saul straightened up, looking toward the small formation nested within the larger one that Ophelia had pointed out. His eyes flickered briefly before quickly returning to normal.
“This time we won’t be connecting to the Prismatic World, so I’ve replaced the original formation with an auxiliary one.”
