Chapter 1241: TRUTH OR DARE (II)
SU YUQI glanced at Luo Jin, and the corner of her mouth lifted on its own when she saw how red his face had turned. With his tough appearance, most people would assume he was some kind of cold, unapproachable guy. But in reality, he was just a soft marshmallow inside. Maybe that was why she liked him so much. He triggered her urge to tease, and his reactions only made her want to poke at him even more.
"I guess it's my turn now," she said, reaching for the bottle and giving it a spin.
The bottle turned fast at first, then slowed down and wobbled. It rocked back and forth before stopping completely, its mouth pointing directly at Luo Ren.
Su Yuqi raised her brow. She didn't know Luo Ren well. He didn't seem bothered at all about the bottle pointing at him. Unlike Luo Jin, who showed his feelings openly, or Luo Yan, who seemed sweet but was actually quite black-bellied, Luo Ren struck a perfect balance between gentle and serious. But she could tell, underneath it all, he was probably more ruthless than he looked.
"Truth or dare?" she asked.
"Truth," Luo Ren answered without hesitation.
Su Yuqi thought about what to ask him. She wasn't particularly interested in Luo Ren, so coming up with a question was tough. Then her eyes fell on the only other girl in the room, and suddenly, she had an idea.
"What's your ideal type?"
Luo Ren blinked, clearly caught off guard by the question. Before he could respond, Bai Ze butted in.
"Wait, why are you asking Brother Ren that?" he said, pretending to be shocked. "Don't tell me you—"
"Don't even finish that sentence," Su Yuqi cut him off before he could say something ridiculous, giving him a flat stare. She turned back to Luo Ren. "Don't worry, you're not my type. No offense."
Luo Jin, who had been on the verge of panicking, relaxed when he heard Su Yuqi's words. If she had actually been interested in his oldest brother, he wouldn't have known what to do. Between him and Luo Ren, the better choice was obvious. But after hearing her response, he felt ridiculous. Why had he immediately assumed she liked his brother? It wasn't like Su Yuqi got interested in people easily, anyway. So what was he even worried about?
He shook his head and shot a quick glare at Bai Ze. This was all his cousin's fault.
Bai Ze, who was still pouting, suddenly felt a shiver run down his spine. He glanced around, but didn't notice anything unusual. So he just figured the air conditioner must be set too low.
Yu Jiao was another one who quietly sighed in relief. When Su Yuqi asked about Luo Ren's ideal type, combined with Bai Ze's insinuation, it was easy to jump to conclusions. She tried imagining the two of them together and had to admit they made a good match. But the thought made her chest feel strangely tight. For some reason, part of her really didn't like the idea at all.
When Su Yuqi said Luo Ren wasn't her type at all, that tight feeling in Yu Jiao's chest eased. Her own reactions were so weird since earlier. She shook her head, confused. What was going on with her? First with that manager earlier, and now this thing with Su Yuqi. She let out another quiet sigh.
Luo Ren chuckled at Su Yuqi's words. "None taken. To answer your question, my ideal type is tall, gentle, kind, and beautiful." His gaze flicked to Yu Jiao. "Someone who can make my day brighter just by her smile."
Everyone in the room noticed how Luo Ren's expression softened when he looked at Yu Jiao. As soon as one was not oblivious in the world of romance, they could tell his "ideal type" description was basically pointing straight at her.
Too bad Yu Jiao was staring at the floor and missed it completely.
She was too focused on listening to Luo Ren's answer to raise her head. Tall, gentle, kind, and beautiful. Someone with a bright smile. That was his ideal type. Out of all those traits, she only matched the "tall" part. Maybe she could pass as gentle and kind. But beautiful? No. And her smile was nothing special either.
That tight feeling in her chest returned, sharper this time, like something heavy had settled behind her ribs. She pressed a hand to her chest, confused by how much it stung.
Seriously, what was wrong with her?
Su Yuqi was a little surprised Luo Ren answered so honestly, or at least as honestly as he could. But one look at Yu Jiao told her it had the opposite effect. Oh well. Not her problem.
Luo Ren tried to meet Yu Jiao's eyes, hoping she might realize he was talking about her. But she never looked up. He could practically feel the sadness coming off her. Was something wrong? Was it because of what he said?
Luo Yan shook his head as he watched. His brother's words clearly affected Yu Jiao. She was probably convinced she didn't match Luo Ren's ideal type at all. But if she felt upset about that, didn't it mean her feelings for him were not completely platonic? At least that was one good thing.
Still, he couldn't let his friend drown in negative thoughts, especially if she was putting herself down. As her friend, he needed to fix that. And maybe clean up his brother's mess, too. Honestly, Luo Ren should have realized by now that Yu Jiao struggled with self-esteem. Even if she was trying to change that mindset, years of thinking poorly about herself wouldn't disappear so easily. So no, Luo Ren shouldn't have assumed Yu Jiao would understand what he meant.
Luckily, he was sitting on Yu Jiao's other side, close enough to lean over and whisper what he needed to say.
"Jiao Jiao, I think I know someone who matches my brother's ideal type."
Yu Jiao turned to Luo Yan almost automatically, the question slipping out before she could stop it. "Who?"
Luo Yan smiled and whispered back, "You."
