Infinite Mana In The Apocalypse

Chapter 5466: Emperor! I

Chapter 5466: Emperor! I

Noah read the prompts with shining eyes. Every capability of the Heart struck at Trueness, the one axis where THE Sealed One’s followers and vessels and engineered Gilded were all, without exception, hollow. His enemy had built an empire on installed identities.

The woman in his arms had just become a counter to every one of them, and she had done it by refusing, her entire existence, to install anything at all.

She would be a sharp weapon against Gilded Ones and Followers of THE Sealed One!

The prompts faded over the black water, and Emotive moved.

She lifted her head from his chest, slow and unhurried, and looked up at him. The mania in her eyes had not gone anywhere, would never go anywhere, but it sat inside something settled now, a whole identity wrapped around the storm, and her voice came out quiet and completely steady.

"I...give you my Everything," Emotive said. "My heart. My emotions. My very self and my sense of being. Everything." Her smile trembled!

HUUM!

Then she took his lips, courageously, before any part of her could lose its nerve.

And around them, over the obsidian river in the endless dark, the Intents of two True Lifeforms blazed together, cerulean and amaranthine, terrifying waves of identity rolling out across the region and lighting the black currents for gigaparsecs, two seamless truths burning side by side while a transformed heart kept its impossible beat inside the being who held her.

Noah held Emotive against his chest on the black river, her transformed Heart beating inside him, and he was feeling everything.

He meant that literally. It was worth being precise about!

He was feeling emotions of himself...and countless others!

No, not counltess others. Countless other humans!

Three things had combined to make it possible. The HUMAN Letter burned in the foundation of his Tongue, permeating him and THE Infiniverse through his Cause. THE Amaranthine Heart of the Unfelt Depths sat within his Osmontian Source Infinity, an organ built entirely of felt emotion. And between the Letter and the Heart, a channel had opened that neither could have opened alone. The Letter designated. The Heart translated. His Cause carried the signal. Remove any one of the three, and the whole thing collapsed.

The designation was the key, and the designation came down to a definition he had written himself.

A human, by Noah’s definition, was a brief, highly organized pattern holding itself together against existence that ran downhill. A complexity deep enough to experience itself. A thing built from relationships all the way down, radiating heat and disorder outward to keep its small light lit. Nothing in the definition mentioned flesh. Nothing in it mentioned species. That had been deliberate, though even Noah hadn’t guessed where the deliberateness would lead.

Because a definition, written into a foundational Tongue, wasn’t a description. It was a rule. And rules got applied.

So every lifeform within THE Infiniverse, whatever they had been before, Living Existences and Early Creatures and Singular Cognizances and every strange shape between, fit the definition. All of them were patterns holding against the dark. All of them consumed and radiated and defied.

All of them were human. And at this moment, Noah began to feel them.

Trillions didn’t do the number justice. Decillions didn’t. The feelings of every one of them came into him at once, and he lay on a black river holding a manic woman and processed the interior life of an entire Observable Existence, and the strangest part was that it worked. It shouldn’t have, but he felt it!

Across THE Infiniverse, he felt many things.

A farmer stood in a field somewhere in a green realm, mana drifting off the crop rows, back aching, harvest good, thinking about his daughter’s naming day. Noah felt the ache and the satisfaction both.

Hunters descended into a Dungeon in a domain of grey stone, five of them, torches up, hearts loud. One was terrified and hiding it. One was terrified and showing it. All five hoped the same hope about the loot below, and the fear and the greed and the loyalty braided together into something that held them in formation better than any command could have. Emotions had mechanics too.

A family gathered for a feast inside a galaxy-realm, generations around one long table, the grandmother telling a story everyone had heard a hundred times while everyone let her. The love in that room was ordinary and total and completely unaware of itself. Noah felt every seat at the table.

And in a shine of infinite light, around another of his own bodies, he felt three patterns he knew better than any others. Seo-yeon’s fierce small joy. His mother’s quiet watchfulness. Henry’s steady burning want to matter. Their existences vibrated against his sensing, and something in him answered with a weight he didn’t fight.

Responsibility. For all of them. To lead them. To protect them. Not because anything demanded it, but because the definition he’d written made them his, and he had never once held something loosely. He examined the weight honestly, the way he examined everything, and found no part of himself that wanted to set it down.

That finding, it turned out, was the last requirement.

Master. You are sensing the hopes, the dreams, and the fears of every being designated human under your definition. The Letter carries the designation. The Heart translates the feeling. THE Infiniverse provides the reach. What flows into you now is the interior life of an entire Observable Existence, and you are holding it without breaking.

The resonance is reacting with your very being. What you feel from them, and what you feel toward them, aligns seamlessly with what you are. There is no gap between the Emperor this sensation asks for and the being you already were.

The confluence has been recognized. Your Egoic Intent of THE Quintessential Osmontian. THE Egoic Intent of THE Infiniverse. THE Egoic Intent of THE Felt Eternity. Three True Lifeform Intents, all seamlessly connected through you, all bent toward the holding and keeping of these decillions of lives. This confluence has allowed for the unfathomable claiming of a Distinction far above your stature.

You have claimed THE True Distinction of THE True Human Emperor.

HUUM!

A bolt of blue light smashed into him.

His body illuminated brilliantly on the black river, and the weight that landed on him was the strangest weight he had ever carried, because carrying it made him feel light. He turned that paradox over, since paradoxes usually meant the model was wrong somewhere, and found the answer quickly enough. It wasn’t a new weight at all. It was a weight he’d been carrying his whole climb, finally given a name and a structure and a set of tools. Named burdens were lighter than nameless ones!
