Death… And Me

Chapter 3888: Doesn’t Matter

Chapter 3888: Doesn’t Matter

"It will have to wait! We have company!" Suddenly, Rean interrupted them, waving his hand and causing all his runes to fly toward him. They quickly disappeared into the Celestial Soul Dimensional Realm. Now, only the room’s normal anti-Divine Sense Formation was present.

*Bang!*

As soon as Rean’s runes disappeared, the door of the living room was kicked open, and a few members of the Verjansy Government entered in a hurry. "Wisfreya, are you alright?!"

Rean and Roan looked at that with shock on their faces. "Wh-What is happening?!" Well... more like Rean looked to be like that while Roan’s face just changed slightly...

Wisfreya’s mouth twitched. Could they be any more shameless? Rean obviously noticed this guy was coming, yet here he was, pretending to be taken by surprise.

’They are probably worried by the fact they couldn’t see you through the formation anymore,’ Rean told her through Divine Sense. ’After all, my formation can even stop Divinity Realm Divine Senses, let alone the Divine Senses of experts of your Verjansy Country’s level. Just play along for now.’

Wisfreya was in a dilemma. On one hand, she now knew the twins’ group was a bunch of overpowered monsters pretending to be kids. On the other hand, they seem to be very interested in her because of her ability. Perhaps she has a lot to gain from it? She had to make a decision now. Immediately tell the truth about Rean and Roan, or play along like Rean said.

Wisfreya then looked at the man in front, not making her decision straightaway. "Se-Senior Hufus, what happened?!"

Hufus was taken aback, seeing that Wisfreya was just fine, seemingly alone in this living room with Rean and Roan. "N-No... It’s just-"

"What the hell is happening here?!" Ruriklin immediately arrived a second later. "You! Aren’t you Hufus? What is your Verjansy Country planning? Why are you attacking my Hazin Clan’s members and our visits?!"

Hufus first walked to Wisfreya while Ruriklin stood by Roan’s side.

Then, he touched Wisfreya’s shoulder and sent his Divine Sense inside her body. After a quick check, he sighed in relief. She was fine and didn’t seem to be under any kind of effect. "Apologies, friend. As you know, Wisfreya is a very important member of our Verjansy Country entourage for this Martial Gathering. She told us she would come to visit these little friends earlier, which wasn’t a problem. It’s just that we lost sight of her position and grew nervous. That’s why I was sent here to check on her. Obviously, she is just fine."

Ruriklin narrowed his eyes. "So you simply decided to barge into our residence and kick all doors? Shouldn’t you have called me first? Also, my Hazin Clan hasn’t fallen so low that we would try something against a sixteen-year-old kid, mind you."

Rean was ’puzzled’ at that situation. "Isn’t it obvious she would disappear? I mean, this living room has an Anti-Divine Sense Formation, doesn’t it? That’s to ensure the privacy os its visitors during the gathering, or so the elders back in my residence said. I don’t see why you would feel that afraid all of a sudden... Unless, of course, you could see through this formation from the very start and for some reason you lost that power."

Immediately, all eyes turned in Hufus’s direction. Indeed, that was to be expected. So, why all the alarm? It was normal for such a formation to work like that.

"Hmph!" Ruriklin snorted. "Friend Hufus, could it be that the Anti-Divine Sense Formations prepared for the visitors during this gathering have a backdoor that allows your country to see through it?"

"T-That..." Hufus began to sweat cold. He glanced at Rean, that thirteen-year-old kid. Was he doing it on purpose? But then again, is he already that insightful at such a young age? Or was it a coincidence?

"Ahem... that’s not it at all. Our country obviously wouldn’t use any underhanded methods to check on the other participants. It’s something else entirely. I can’t tell you what it is, but we have a way to check where Wisfreya is at all times. It’s just that this method seemed to have failed for a short moment. That’s all."

Not a single soul there believed Hufus. But then again, the Hazin Clan was pretty small compared to one of the Top Ten Powers of the Surute Region, like the Verjansy Country Government. So, Ruriklin didn’t pursue the issue. Roan was fine, and the residence was a property of the Verjansy Country anyway. He couldn’t care less if it was broken.

"So that’s how it is," Ruriklin smiled. "I completely understand the situation, friend Hufus. Just send someone to fix the doors and the walls later, will you?"

"Of course!" Hufus nodded straightaway. "Alright, Wisfreya, you had your time to talk with these kids. Now, come with me so you can get ready for the last event."

"Yes, senior Hufus," Wisfreya answered. She walked past the twins and the Hazin Clan members, exiting the residence soon after.

Roan turned to Ruriklin. "That was absolutely a lie."

Ruriklin obviously knew that. "It’s fine. Do you really think any visitors would rely on the formations prepared by the Verjansy Country? Everyone who wanted to conceal their conversations would just use Divine Sense or prepare formations of their own."

Then, he looked at Roan. "Still, how did she disappear from their senses? That guy was truly nervous when he got here."

Roan shook his head in response. "How would I know that? The Anti-Divine Sense Formation in the room was obviously active. Maybe they didn’t prepare this formation with a backdoor?"

Ruriklin pondered a bit and decided to let it go. "Oh well, who cares? We didn’t lose anything, and Verjansy Country is now in our debt. We might be able to demand a few benefits from them later on, so we actually gained something from this confusion."

Then, Ruriklin paid attention to both Rean and Roan. "By the way, did you manage to form that alliance she mentioned?"

The twins nodded, even though they didn’t look like twins at all at the moment. "We did. Wisfreya said she didn’t know if the last event would have different cultivations banded together. But if it does, she will join us, and she will bring some other guys in the Soul Transformation Realm, as well as some Core and Soul Fusion Realm participants she has in mind. We will need to wait for the next event to see if this alliance can be used or not, though."

"That’s great!" Ruriklin was even happier now. Little did he know that what Rean and Roan said was all a bunch of lies. "Then I’m looking forward to it."

"Alright," Rean began to make his way outside. "I’m going back to my place before the elders there start complaining. See you later."

And so, the twins separated again. Of course, it didn’t really matter. At the moment, they had their Divine Senses on Wisfreya, waiting for her response.
