Chapter 2535: Prime Eternal Hilla
"What?! He can absorb Essence of the Void?!" Shiva exclaimed in shock after learning this for the first time.
Since it happened after she abandoned him, she had no idea until Hilla mentioned it.
"Mortal, I want to witness it with my own eyes," Hilla then spoke.
"You want me to absorb the Essence of the Void right now?" Yuan asked with a raised eyebrow.
"Yes, or would that be a problem? You can absorb it, can’t you?" Hilla answered, sounding adamant.
"Well, I haven’t tried again after my fight with Saaruk because I was only able to absorb a limited amount before feeling like I’d reached a bottleneck," he admitted.
’However, I might actually be able to absorb more now, given that my cultivation and understanding of the Power of the Void had improved significantly since then...’ Yuan thought to himself.
After pondering for a moment, Yuan looked at Hilla’s transparent figure and said, "Okay, I will try to absorb the Essence of the Void. Give me a minute to prepare myself."
He had a feeling Hilla would not let him leave unless she got what she wanted, especially since she took her time traveling all the way to the Nine Heavens to meet him.
Moreover, he’d rather not offend another Prime Eternal if he didn’t need to, as he already had Deemo and Morveth to deal with.
’She feels different from other Eternals for some reason... Although I still cannot trust her, let’s see where this goes...’ Yuan thought to himself as he prepared to cultivate.
A moment later, Yuan took a deep breath and started feeling the ’essence’ of the void.
Due to his improved understanding of the void overall, he was able to sense it much quicker this time.
Almost immediately after sensing the Essence of the Void, Yuan began attempting to absorb it.
Shiva’s eyes slowly widened with shock and disbelief as Yuan really started absorbing the Essence of the Void moments later.
’This monster! His Eternal Constitution isn’t even complete, and he can already absorb the Essence of the Void that true Eternals like me have trouble doing?! This doesn’t make any sense at all! How is he achieving this with a body like that?!’ she cried inwardly.
It was at this moment that Shiva started to suspect something was fundamentally different about Yuan’s physique because, logically speaking, his body should not be able to handle Essence of the Void.
Meanwhile, Hilla watched Yuan in silence, her expression unknown due to her invisible features.
After he began absorbing the Essence of the Void, Yuan could sense his Eternal Essence growing at a rapid pace. Every minute of cultivation produced the equivalent of over ten years’ worth of Eternal Essence.
This incredible rate of improvement was precisely why all Eternals cultivated the Essence of the Void whenever possible, as it allowed them to progress far faster than absorbing ordinary essence. Unfortunately, not even Eternals could cultivate the Essence of the Void without limit. Each of them had their own threshold, and once they reached it, they would be forced to take a break.
And it was this very limit that differentiated one Eternal from another. In a way, it was the standard by which Eternals measured their talent.
<Your understanding of the Power of the Void has increased significantly>
<Your understanding of the Power of the Void has reached the next realm>
<You have learned Supreme Void Understanding>
<Your Void Manipulation has reached a new level>
It didn’t take long before Yuan reached a new level of Void Understanding, as he was already on the verge of a breakthrough during his last cultivation of Essence of the Void.
The moment his Void Understanding reached Supreme-level, Yuan’s ability to sense the Essence of the Void became even clearer, and his absorption rate increased even more.
As for the rate he acquired Eternal Essence, it also skyrocketed.
A few days later, Yuan stopped cultivating when he started feeling the bottleneck again.
"Are you satisfied?" Yuan turned to look at Hilla, who had remained as still and quiet as a statue during the last few days.
Hilla remarked a moment later, "You’re even more interesting than I thought."
Yuan raised an eyebrow at such a remark, wondering if he’d gotten himself in more trouble.
"If you’re satisfied, can we go now?" Yuan then asked.
"Sure."
"Really?"
Yuan doubted his ears when Hilla agreed so easily to allow them to leave.
"Why do you seem so surprised that I am letting you go?" she asked, sounding intrigued by his reaction.
"Because I find it hard to believe that you would travel all the way here just to see me cultivate," he admitted.
"Then what else are you expecting me to do?"
He shook his head.
"I don’t know."
Hilla then said, "Although I wouldn’t mind it if you lingered a little longer, that wouldn’t be interesting at all. After all, I wish to see more of what you’ll achieve, and that can only be done if you continue doing your own thing."
"Wait... that sounds like you intend to keep watching me." Yuan’s eyes widened at her words.
"Of course. It has been such a long time since I found something this interesting. It would not make sense for me to leave before seeing it through."
Yuan swallowed nervously before asking, "Does that mean..."
He paused for a second.
"You’ll follow me around?"
He already had Shiva following him around, and the idea that another Eternal—a Prime Eternal, at that—following him sounded awful.
"Follow you? To that place with ’his’ power? I’d rather not, as I can watch you perfectly fine from out here." Hilla said.
Hearing this, Yuan inwardly sighed in relief. Even so, it still felt strange knowing that a Prime Eternal would be constantly watching over him. Unfortunately, there was nothing he could realistically do about it.
"Then... I’ll be leaving now..."
Yuan turned to look at Shiva before beginning to leave.
Shiva quickly tried to follow, but she immediately froze in her tracks when Hilla’s voice echoed behind her.
"Shiva, I am not done with you."
