Chapter 2508: Upgrading Number One Under Heaven(2)

Chapter 2508: Upgrading Number One Under Heaven(2)

Yuan moved Number One Under Heaven to the side before placing the Infinite Obsidian onto the anvil.

He then lightly tapped it with his hammer to gauge its toughness, only to be surprised by the result.

He proceeded to stare at the Infinite Obsidian in silence for a moment before suddenly raising the hammer high into the air and bringing it down with his full strength.

CLANG!

The entire chamber trembled violently from the overwhelming pressure generated by the impact.

"Wow..." Yuan muttered in a surprised voice after seeing the results.

Despite using his full strength, the Infinite Obisdian remained unscathed.

"Is this thing indestructible or something?" he wondered aloud, as he’d never seen a material this durable before.

Suddenly, Mu Xuelian approached the chamber and said, "Lord Shiva has something to say."

"Hm?"

By the time Yuan turned to look at her, Shiva had already taken control of Mu Xuelian’s body and was slowly approaching him.

However, her attention was not on Yuan at all, but on the piece of Infinite Obsidian resting atop the anvil.

"Do you recognize it?" he asked her.

She nodded and said, "We call it Void Fragment, and it’s commonly used for crafting treasures by Eternals who are into that."

"Where does it come from?" Yuan then asked.

"From inside black holes," she calmly replied.

"What?" Yuan raised his eyebrows, doubting whether he had heard her correctly.

"As black holes continuously consume matter over time, everything inside them becomes compressed beyond logic," Shiva explained in a calm voice. "We simply harvest the remnants whenever we need them, since materials like these are actually quite abundant there."

"..."

After a moment of silence, Yuan asked, "Then how do they refine something like this?"

"How would I know?" Shiva shrugged. "Very few Eternals are actually interested in crafting treasures."

She then continued, "However, since we’re talking about Eternals, they most likely use Eternal Essence. After all, Eternal Essence is capable of cutting through even the supposedly indestructible."

"Oh? Using Eternal Essence to forge treasures? Why didn’t I think of that sooner?"

A flicker of excitement appeared within Yuan’s eyes the moment he realized the possibility.

Yuan immediately infused some Eternal Essence into his hammer before striking the Void Fragment once again, though this time he deliberately held back his strength.

Ding!

Even though he had only used a few billion years’ worth of Eternal Essence, Yuan finally managed to make progress on the material, slightly flattening the previously unmoving Void Fragment.

"It... actually worked?" Yuan muttered in a somewhat dazed voice.

He could’ve never imagined the solution would be so simple.

"In my eyes, you’re doing too much," Shiva suddenly said.

"What do you mean?"

Without saying a word, Shiva suddenly reached toward the Void Fragment with her bare hands.

The moment she grabbed it, she wrapped her hand in Eternal Essence and began stretching and molding the material as though it were nothing more than ordinary clay.

Seeing this absurd scene unfold before him, Yuan was left utterly speechless.

"I have seen an Eternal crafting treasure once, and this is what they did," she said as she placed the material back on the anvil, now shaped like a rod.

"..."

Yuan fell silent.

A few moments later, he turned to look at Number One Under Heaven, and then Zi Xuan.

"What’s the matter?" Zi Xuan asked.

Yuan released a deep sigh and said, "Because of the refinement method required for this material, I won’t be able to upgrade Number One Under Heaven using my usual methods. There’s a high chance I’ll have to completely melt it down and recreate it from scratch."

"What?!" Zi Xuan exclaimed in shock. "At that point, it’s not even an upgrade anymore—it’s a complete reconstruction!"

"That’s right. Which is why I want to know how you feel about it," Yuan said.

After all, Number One Under Heaven was not solely his treasure, but something the two of them shared together. If he was going to make such a drastic decision, he needed Zi Xuan’s approval first.

Zi Xuan fell silent, a contemplative expression appearing on her beautiful face.

Eventually, she parted her lips and softly spoke, "Although this is incredibly sudden, it’s not all that different from how people in life are sometimes forced to leave behind their old homes and move into new ones."

"Some end up with better lives afterward, but most end up worse off."

She then looked at Yuan with a faint smile and continued, "But since it’s you, I don’t have to worry about it turning out worse."

"I’ll do my best not to disappoint your expectations," Yuan said with a serious expression on his face.

After a brief pause, he continued, "However, since this is my first time working with a material like this—not to mention using a completely new forging method—I’ll need to experiment with it first through a few practice attempts."

Once Shiva left the chamber, Yuan immediately began forging several more treasures. However, rather than completing them entirely, he intentionally left them in a half-finished state, with the materials already fully refined and only the final shaping remaining.

He would then tear off a small piece from the Void Fragment and fuse it with the unfinished treasures.

Since the Void Fragment he possessed was fairly large, Yuan was not overly concerned about wasting a few small portions for his experiments, especially since it would lower the chances of him breaking Number One Under Heaven.

Over the next several days, Yuan would experiment with the Void Fragment using several techniques.

The first treasure Yuan forged using the Void Fragment turned out far more durable and powerful than he had anticipated, but he did not stop there and continued experimenting.

Over the following several days, he forged multiple treasures that clearly surpassed any Celestial-grade treasure he had ever created in the past.

Yet despite their astonishing quality, Yuan remained unsatisfied. It felt as though something crucial was still missing from his creations.

"What am I missing?" he mumbled as he stared at the scattered treasures before him.
