Chapter 5192: Grand Chaos Ghost Body
"..."
The Celestial Transcendent’s eyes narrowed as he witnessed the innate change within the Divine Emperor of Death’s body. Rather than encasing energy on himself, it seemed like his entire body and soul underwent a transformation since he couldn’t differentiate between an actual ghost and Davis right now, almost making him wonder if Davis just committed suicide in front of him right now.
"Truly... you show powers I have never seen in the past thirty billion years. Amusing, truly amusing..." He couldn’t help but comment offhandedly with a light chuckle.
The obsidian light in his hands bubbled like it was liquid.
He raised his arm and flicked his finger, causing the bubbling obsidian light to rush towards Davis and wash over him.
Davis didn’t dodge.
He remained firm yet elusory in place as the obsidian light engulfed him.
"What is this?" Davis asked calmly.
The Celestial Transcendent’s gaze flickered as he saw that the obsidian light wasn’t working. His lips moved, "Shadow Dimension’s Ravaging Light. It should be piercing through you and draining all of that vitality from the ghostly yang and then your body, but it seems like you could defend against it well."
Davis was done restoring the scythe manifestation. The black-yellow curved blade grew more sickly while he looked bedeviled, as though he was possessed.
He released the knee, driving the speed of his falling body into his heel, and launched himself, creating a crack in space while rushing towards the opponent at an unbelievable speed.
His form was spectral, nearly hard to catch or even see, for that matter.
When he appeared on the other side, the Celestial Transcendent was missing a few fingers as they flew off his fists, blood splashing across the skies.
"Another person, a woman I came to like, said something about chaos energy." Davis’s voice was calm yet ancient, "From it, I realized that when chaos energy is used as a soft force, it is capable of returning chaos and different kinds of energies into pure heaven and earth energy. When it is used as a hard force, it is capable of turning chaos energy and heaven and earth energy into some other kind of energy, as you used. But-"
He turned around to look at the Celestial Transcendent’s hand that was already healed, the tip reforming and finishing with the nails.
However, the Celestial Transcendent kept looking at his palm as though he was unable to believe he failed to catch the scythe in its tracks.
"Primarily, it brings balance, accommodating or exacerbating weaknesses, deflating or increasing strengths. This Grand Chaos Ghost Body of mine accommodates the weakness of ghostly yang and increases its strengths."
"That is true, but what use is understanding that when I doubt you could last long in this state, considering you’re using the energy of the replica"
"Perhaps," Davis grinned coldly, "But you won’t have an easy time catching me with this. Forget catching me. I’ll eliminate you before your other avatars show up."
"Big words."
The two of them shot at each other at the same time after their words fell.
The air between them cracked apart as the Celestial Transcendent surged forward once more, his obsidian light folding into his knuckles like a collapsing star.
*Boom!~*
The impact this time didn’t just ripple the space but detonated it, causing a shockwave of condensed chaos and darkness blasting outward and gouging deep furrows into the cavity floor beneath them. Davis felt his scythe manifestation groan under the pressure, the black-yellow blade flickering as though it might simply cease to exist.
"Still holding on?" The Celestial Transcendent’s voice carried genuine surprise now, laced beneath the mockery, "Interesting chaotic body transformation technique, but it won’t save you since you’re not exactly getting any stronger because of the layer limit. Ultimately, you’ve become harder to strike."
"That is enough for me."
Davis retracted the scythe and slashed again.
The Celestial Transcendent also whipped around, each spin of his body and a throw of his fist containing chaos energy blooming into corrosive yinfire, then underworld water, then nether wind, then rotten wood, then yin lightning, and then obsidian light.
The six Laws cycling through his strikes in a blur too fast for ordinary perception, each one lancing toward a different point on Davis’s body as though testing which vulnerability would crack his Grand Chaos Ghost Body first.
Davis kept swinging the scythe, retreating, blocking, and retreating again. Each parry cost him a chunk of his death energy infused with chaos. The chaos seed was in overdrive. Although it was a miraculous entity, its level was still low as his cultivation base was at Level Four Empyrean Stage. It was reverberating as though it was unstable, unable to unleash the full force of the Grand Chaos Ghost Body.
But with the layer limit, Davis didn’t need to unleash extraordinary prowess. He kept his energy in check, using the optimal amount of energy to tackle these attacks.
For several dozen exchanges, the Celestial Transcendent’s fists, using the Myriad Origins Fist of chaos energy to launch pure chaos-attributed attacks or one of those six-dimensional attribute energies, kept Davis suppressed.
However, this state slowly shifted as Davis gradually adapted to his Grand Chaos Ghost Body.
A punch that should’ve obliterated his shoulder simply passed through him.
Yin lightning that should have made him freeze and limp didn’t have much of an effect, although it did cause him pain, which he ignored easily.
His flesh remained in a spectral state, not easily slashed nor punchable. It was like punching into vapor. Even the chaotic might that should affect everything in its wake failed to capture the elusive nature of the spectral body. This was due to his own spectral body being infused with chaos.
He drifted in the air while his scythe constantly swung around, shifting from blocking and retreating to blocking and attacking.
The Celestial Transcendent’s attacks arrived a fraction too late, striking ghostly afterimages instead of substance.
"Oh?" His brows lifted, intrigued by the extreme nature of elusory body.
Normally, this kind of attack method can only be done using illusions since Davis was attacking at the same time while his body remained elusory. However, he sensed no illusions here other than the ones put up by that pink-haired woman around the vast abyssal cavity.
He could sense she was attempting to create a maze that would confuse people from appearing here, but didn’t bother since, as long as he was here, it didn’t matter if they got lost. Using him as a beacon, they could always come to this place.
Davis didn’t respond. He barely had any breath to spare as he entered a state of utter focus.
His scythe swept out in a low arc, the black-yellow blade finding flesh more often than not. It created minor cuts and shallow nicks on the Celestial Transcendent’s limbs, especially the fists. The ghostly yang death energy poured into those wounds like ink into water, the regeneration rate becoming slower and slower.
The Celestial Transcendent’s expression didn’t change, but he pulled his arm back half an inch faster than the strike warranted.
Davis’s spectral form flickered again, dodging a follow-up strike of Yin Lightning by simply not being where his body suggested he’d be, and his scythe lashed out for the thousandth time, creating a nick along the ribs, thin as a hairline, and yet it appeared fatal as a grievous ghostly energy was finally embedded in it.
The Celestial Transcendent noticed this change, but their exchange accelerated at a rapid pace.
*Bang!~* *Bang!~* *Bang!~*
He unleashed powerful, chaotic fists and even sneaked in a few devastating kicks and stomps that destroyed space, but all of them missed Davis, who wove through them like a specter.
Even the fists at the utmost layer limit either slipped through or were escaped using that strange splitting technique, which now no longer looked like he was crawling but flickering like a ghost instead.
With the black-yellow blade looming above him, if Celestial Transcendent hadn’t seen the wider world and knew about a lot of things, he might’ve felt that he was haunted or cursed.
