Chapter 4524: Disciplining The Assassins
Davis and Evelynn brought Azariel and Viridia together, making them kneel on the crystalline floor. They were on a mountain of Peak-Level Transcendent Crystals, so the spatial heaven and earth energy here was brimming.
Azariel and Viridia were tied up. The former was dressed in a luxurious black robe with web patterns while the latter was still draped in the black robe of an assassin.
They looked more embarrassed than angry, although Viridia was much more silent.
They couldn’t believe how easily they had gotten caught, considering they had made waves here yet still couldn’t compare to their father and mother. The worst thing was that their aura was alone enough to make them cower in defeat. They were given a blow. It was like they were still children who stood behind their parents as they grabbed their clothes with one hand.
“You still refuse to accept your mistakes?”
Davis glared at Azariel.
The moment they knew Azariel and Viridia left for the secret realm, they were alarmed and panicked. It lasted for a few days before they finally came to the conclusion that children were meant to leave home one day, like a little bird taking flight.
Their worry lessened, and they had trust in them, but that didn’t mean they had stopped worrying.
Now that they had found them safe, they were furious, and their feelings of disappointment burst out.
They could’ve died while adventuring in this kind of place. Even the King-Tier Five Clawed Imperial Dragon possessed the same prowess as them, and considering Barakiel was a higher-tier dragon, he could easily suppress Azariel and Viridia because they possessed part Emperor-Tier Earth Dragon blood.
Even if Azariel and Viridia’s max prowess was higher than the King-Tier Five Clawed Imperial Dragon, their prowess would be suppressed, and ultimately, it would be the end of them.
“Father, what mistake did we make? We’re cultivators. Are we supposed to depend on you forever?”
Azariel raised his brows, his purple-green eyes still appearing rebellious.
“I told you. If you wanted to go and acted on your own, I wouldn’t be this angry. The problem is that you brought Viridia away with you.”
“…” Azariel refused to answer.
Viridia cast a look at him before she answered, “I was the one who compelled him to take me with him. Don’t be so hard on him, Father.”
“Even so, as your elder twin brother, he should be prudent and cunning enough to convince your mind halfway through the journey to the secret realm and make you return home.”
“…” Both Azariel and Viridia went speechless at their father’s conclusion.
“That’s right. Azariel, I’m disappointed.” Evelynn backed him up.
“Mother!” Azariel’s expression fell, “You can’t seriously want to fool my own sister when you two have taught me to never lie to my siblings, especially Viridia.”
“Lying for the good of others is not recommended but allowed, which you should’ve used at your discretion and safeguarded your little sister,” Evelynn said as though it were a matter of fact.
“…” Azariel was simply at a loss for words.
On the other hand, Viridia looked angered, her brows frowning, “You two still treat me like a child. I’m just as strong as Azariel, and I have won more times than him when we battle. Why do I need to be protected more than him? This doesn’t make sense!”
Davis turned to look at her with a calm expression, “That’s because Azariel let you win because he’s not interested in winning against you. He adores you very much. He stacks way more methods to be deadly, and I’m sure you’ve seen a glimpse of it while here.”
“…” Viridia trembled.
“You…!” Azariel’s expression churned.
He didn’t realize he was noticed by his father that much. Simultaneously, he also made sure to keep this a secret from Viridia, and he had worked hard acting so that she wouldn’t notice it, but it seems like he was now exposed.
He feared Viridia disliking him, so he was both moved and angry at his father.
Viridia also glanced at Azariel with a stunned expression on her face.
Indeed, she remembered following her brother’s lead all the way till here. It was as though he was a different person. He revealed way more killing methods, and they continued to survive every situation even when they had met powerful enemies.
Even the decision to not take on the Five-Clawed Imperial Dragon was his, while she was excited to take it down.
The way he moved during spars and a battle to kill was completely different.
Davis narrowed his brows at Azariel, “You took her with you because you didn’t want her to dislike you? How childish. I expect more from you, twins, now that you have grown into adults. Be more responsible for the lives around you, whether it be siblings or strangers. Prioritize your lives, but don’t judge quickly and kill easily. Otherwise, you’ll be the same fools who go around wiping out people just because they are lesser than them or because they are an eyesore.”
Azariel nearly turned red, but Davis continued.
“You two seem to have befriended three Seraphim Race experts. Now I’m very interested in their blood. Should I target and kill them just for the sake of their blood or just because they are from another galaxy?”
“No…!” Azariel exclaimed.
“Why?” Davis frowned, “I’m pretty sure they hate Divergents too, as the heaven’s chosen race. Our family cannot afford to leave them alive.”
“No, they’re my friends!”
“My friends, too. Father, you cannot joke about this!” Viridia made a serious expression.
Inwardly, Azariel and Viridia were scared, their hearts pounding.
They knew their father wouldn’t do anything to them, but to make a point, they didn’t doubt that their father would kill the Seraphims. As adventurers who had heard countless stories, whether it was true or fake, they knew he was ruthless behind that smiley face he wore every day in front of family.
“Oh? So they’re truly our friends.” Davis nodded as though he understood.
With that, Azariel and Viridia also relaxed a bit.
“But what if I hadn’t met you two and ended them somewhere while adventuring? Would it have been good? Would it have been acceptable?”
“…”
Davis’s expression turned solemn. He pointed at Ralaza Heavenshade, who was standing to the side a bit away from them. She stood along the Heavenshades, worried about her brother, who got his arm cut off.
“How can you kill my friend here? Azariel, apologize to her.”
“…!”
Ralaza Heavenshade was stunned.
