Chapter 453: Chapter 453: Something Is 100% Wrong
The chat was still discussing Diego and his ex-girlfriend. Renee Jennings yawned and said, "Anyone else want to connect?"
At her words, the audience stopped fixating on Diego’s situation.
[Yes, yes, yes! Keep the calls coming!]
[The one with Diego didn’t count! Keep going, keep going~]
[I’m slacking off at work to watch this stream. Don’t let me down, host! Hehehe.]
Renee raised an eyebrow and joked, "Slacking off at work? If you get caught, don’t you dare rat me out."
With that, she started connecting to the next caller.
Soon, "JessicaLovesLife" connected to the stream.
In the split-screen, a woman appeared wearing a woven hat and a side braid. Her face was flushed, and beads of sweat dotted her forehead and the tip of her nose.
Realizing she had successfully connected, her face lit up with a brilliant smile. She said excitedly, "Hi, host! Hi to all the sisters and viewers in the stream! I’m Jessica!"
"Hello, Jessica." Renee smiled faintly. "Why are you outdoors on such a hot day? Are you on vacation?"
[It’s peak tourist season right now. Super crowded.]
[Going out to have fun in this weather? Must be true love.]
"No, not on vacation," JessicaLovesLife explained with a smile. "This is my husband’s hometown. I’m a teacher, so while I’m on summer break, my husband said he’d bring me to see the place where he grew up and meet his relatives and elders."
Renee nodded and asked with a smile, "Jessica, you two haven’t been married very long, have you?"
"That’s right." JessicaLovesLife gave a shy smile. "We’ve been married for less than three months, so I guess we’re still newlyweds. My husband even said this trip is our honeymoon."
[Huh??? A honeymoon?]
[Do they call going back to your husband’s hometown a honeymoon where you’re from? We sure don’t call it that here.]
[Don’t talk like that, be nice! Congrats to Teacher Jessica on her marriage!]
[Congratulations!]
JessicaLovesLife looked a little awkward. "Thank you for the well wishes."
"Some of the viewers in the stream are a bit cheeky," Renee gently reassured her. "Don’t take it to heart. The most important thing is that you’re happy."
[Exactly! Nothing’s more important than being happy~~]
[Teacher Jessica probably doesn’t have any problems. Let’s get the next caller!]
Renee glanced at the bullet comments and asked, "Teacher Jessica, is there anything I can help you with?"
"Yes." JessicaLovesLife nodded, her expression turning more serious. "Actually, if there wasn’t a problem, I’d usually just watch the stream quietly. I wouldn’t try to connect."
[What is it?]
[Hahaha, I’m different. I try to connect every time, but I never get through. Do you really need a problem to successfully connect? What’s the secret?]
Renee said, "Then, Teacher Jessica, tell me about your situation?"
"Okay." JessicaLovesLife nodded, got up, and started walking as she spoke. "Actually, this is my husband’s second marriage. But he’s a very good person. At first, I rejected him because he was divorced."
She walked to a tree and stopped, continuing, "But he didn’t give up. He kept pursuing me..."
[Teacher Jessica, how did your husband pursue you? Can you tell us? (No offense, just curious)]
[I want to know too, haha]
JessicaLovesLife’s face grew redder. She said slowly, "My husband would drive me to work every day and prepare breakfast for me. Whenever he was free, he’d pick me up after work, buy groceries, and cook for me."
[You little foodie, that’s all it took to win you over?]
[So Teacher Jessica is a foodie, huh?]
"It’s more than that," JessicaLovesLife said. "He would also buy me clothes and jewelry, and he’d take me out whenever there was a holiday."
[A guy who calls taking you to his parents’ house a ’honeymoon’... where else does he take you ’out’?]
[Teacher Jessica, how old are you? How old is your husband?]
JessicaLovesLife said, "I’m twenty-seven this year, and my husband is nine years older than me."
Renee pressed her lips together, unable to hold back. "Teacher Jessica, if I’m being honest, with your qualifications, your husband was marrying up when he married you."
JessicaLovesLife smiled. "Actually, all my friends say the same thing."
"If you don’t mind me asking, does your husband have any children?" Renee got to the heart of the matter.
[I was just about to ask that!]
[Great question, host~~~~]
"No." JessicaLovesLife shook her head. "If he had kids, I absolutely would not have gotten together with him. I don’t want to be a stepmother."
Renee nodded. "It’s good that there are no children."
[Girl, how are you so sharp yet so naive at the same time?]
[Good thing he has no kids, or you’d really be in for it...]
[I’m a stepmom right now. If I could choose again, I definitely wouldn’t have gotten married!]
JessicaLovesLife looked at the bullet comments, her brow furrowing deeply. "But, girls, on this trip to my husband’s hometown, I’ve discovered something very strange."
"What is it?" Renee asked.
"I saw some children’s toys at my husband’s house." JessicaLovesLife’s tone was troubled. "I asked my husband about it, and he said they belong to his nephew. His sister sometimes brings her kid to stay over."
[Based on that, I have a feeling your husband has a kid!]
[This prophet predicts: You’ve been tricked, sis!]
Renee’s expression grew serious. "Teacher Jessica, were there a lot of these toys you mentioned?"
"Not too many," JessicaLovesLife answered. "I found them in a corner, and many were covered in a layer of dust, like they hadn’t been played with in a long time. Also, the toys looked like they were for a girl, but his sister has a boy."
"Do you believe your husband’s answer?"
"I believed him at first, but the night before last, I was in my husband’s room and accidentally found a photograph in a drawer. He was holding a little girl, and there was someone standing next to them who had been cut out of the picture."
[Your husband definitely has a child!]
[He’s 36, divorced... the chances of him not having a kid are pretty low.]
[Girl’s toys in the house, and your husband is holding a girl in the photo. It’s already obvious!]
Seeing JessicaLovesLife’s troubled expression, Renee asked softly, "Teacher Jessica, did you ask your husband about the photo?"
"I did." JessicaLovesLife sighed. "I’m just not the kind of person who can keep things to myself."
"And what was his reaction?"
"He overreacted at first, asking me why I was rummaging through his things. After he calmed down, he apologized and explained that it was a friend’s child who is very important to him, and he wanted to keep the photo as a memento."
[One hundred percent shady!]
[That’s so awful. You never see it coming.]
[That’s definitely his child. As for why he won’t admit it, you’d have to ask him.]
JessicaLovesLife said, "But he told me he didn’t have any children."
Renee asked, "Before you two made your relationship official, did you ever say anything about not wanting to be a stepmother?"
"No." JessicaLovesLife shook her head. "From the very beginning, when we first met, he told me he was divorced but had no children."
"Then could the child have been his ex-wife’s?" Renee guessed boldly.
