Chapter 584: The Crush
A huge glowing sword appeared from Xiao Feng’s sword and a chilling aura descended onto the competition stage.
Granduncle Xiong gritted his teeth and directed whatever Spirit Qi he had to keep himself standing upright.
The core in his dantian started to give out a bright glow while he did so.
Sweat started to appear on his forehead and his body.
He had to withstand this attack from Xiao Feng or else...
Wind blew across the competition stage when the glowing sword moved in tandem with the blade of Xiao Feng’s sword.
The wind felt like it could slice everything open that stood in its way.
And when the glowing sword came into contact with the abacus that was in front of Granduncle Xiong, a crack began to form on the abacus.
Everyone could see that things weren’t going well for Granduncle Xiong.
They held their breaths as they anticipated him to lose the match.
Their hopes went higher with the cracks on the abacus becoming more and wider.
Finally, they would be able to win something out of their bets. They thought silently while they bit their lower lips.
Sima Long and the other Sima Family members on the other hand were rooting for Granduncle Xiong to win.
Out of so many matches, they had won the majority of them.
And as the closing match, it would be vital for them to win.
Otherwise, what they did earlier might have gone to waste with the last match of the tournament making a lasting impression on everyone.
Their hearts thumped wildly in their chests as they watched every passing moment on the competition stage.
Zhao Geng Nian stroked his beard and nodded approvingly at his direct disciple for what was happening.
The other Qing Feng Sect disciples were also in a much better mood than before.
They clenched their hands in anticipation, getting ready to give out a cheer when Xiao Feng sliced Granduncle Xiong into halves.
All of them saw no other possible outcome.
Granduncle Xiong, with his core being depleted and his abacus not able to withstand the strike from the Eternal Sword Spirit Statue, was destined to be killed within moments.
Their months of hard work playing along and being the nice guys with the peasants in the city would pay off and they would be able to get the rewards as promised by the sect leader.
However, none of them had Lin Xuan Qi in their consideration and he was the only one that could change the course of events.
And that was what he did.
He nonchalantly activated the system’s ability while he sipped on the cup of tea in his hand.
In the next moment, Xiao Feng’s expression froze.
His Spirit Qi was severed from the Eternal Sword Spirit Statue.
The glowing sword also had cracks appearing on it and before he could react, the glowing sword cracked and dissipated.
"Huh. What’s happening?"
"The abacus is strong enough to withstand the glowing sword?"
"How can this be?!"
The spectators gasped as they saw the glowing sword disappearing right in front of their eyes and Xiao Feng’s panicked expression confirmed their thoughts.
Granduncle Xiong was also surprised by what was happening.
He felt his Spirit Qi being replenished out of nowhere and he didn’t waste any time to think about it.
Winning the match was much more important.
He directed the seemingly never-ending stream of Spirit Qi that was coming out from his core to the abacus.
The cracks on the abacus closed up and the green glow extended out into the surroundings.
It only took a few moments for the green glow to engulf the competition stage.
"What is this..." Xiao Feng nearly dropped to his knees when he came into contact with the green glow.
His Spirit Qi was being disrupted and he quickly tried to thrust his sword at Granduncle Xiong.
Cough.
But when he did so, his Spirit Qi that he tried to direct to his sword flowed in a reverse manner, damaging his meridians and it made him cough out a mouthful of blood.
Xiao Feng had to plunge his sword into the ground to use it as support for keeping himself standing up straight.
While he did so, he saw a huge shadow creeping towards him.
He lifted his head and his heart sank when he saw what was coming at him.
The abacus, which was three times his height, slammed itself down at him.
Xiao Feng wanted to leap away but couldn’t; his Spirit Qi wasn’t in his control and he couldn’t muster any strength for it.
He could only raise his arms above his head but it didn’t help much.
Thud.
The abacus slammed onto him and he dropped onto the ground due to the tremendous force it had.
Sounds of his bones cracking could be heard but the abacus didn’t stop.
It continued with the force squashing down at Xiao Feng.
Slowly, the skin of Xiao Feng started to rupture and blood started seeping out from the wounds that were all over his body.
Even the healing attribute of a Core Formation Level cultivator wasn’t enough to help stop the wounds and bleeding.
Some of the spectators had to look away from the ghastly sight.
Zhao Geng Nian’s face was crumpled up from what he was witnessing.
The other Qing Feng Sect disciples weren’t feeling any better.
Sima Long and the other Sima Family members leaned forward and watched intensely at every movement.
But this time, they were waiting for Xiao Feng to be crushed and Granduncle Xiong to be declared the winner.
That would conclude the tournament in the best possible manner.
The Sima Family would come out of this tournament with their reputation back to how it was.
And they would have weakened the Qing Feng Sect and other sects and clans with so many of them injured or dead from the matches so far.
That would make them think twice about plotting anything against them again.
Sima Long and the other Sima Family members couldn’t help but glance over at Lin Xuan Qi.
It was due to him that they were able to achieve so much with so few casualties.
"Look at that!" There were some movements on the stage and someone shouted.
