Chapter 549: Sima Ye

Zhang Jie came out to the hall and greeted him.

Her body arched to the back with one arm held by the servant girl beside her and the other hand rubbed onto her protruding belly.

"You should have stayed on your bed." Sima Long quickly walked up next to her and helped her to a chair.

"I am bored to hell lying on the bed the whole day." Zhang Jie sighed and glanced at the servant girl by the side.

The servant girl nodded her head vigorously.

"See, even Leng agrees with me on that."

Sima Long wanted to roll his eyes at his wife but stopped himself.

He sat down beside her and said, "Fine. But be careful moving around."

The servant girl didn’t want to be involved with their banter any longer, so she poured everyone a cup of tea and took a few steps back.

Lin Xuan Qi sat down at the table, opposite where Sima Long and Zhang Jie were seated.

He took out the gift he had gotten for Sima Long and Zhang Jie.

"This is for you. Hope it will bring you good luck for the future."

It was a jade pendant carved in the form of two bats, that could be separated into two.

The pronunciation of bats sounded like fortune in their language and hence, it was used as an auspicious creature.

"You shouldn’t have, Brother Xuan Qi." Sima Long took the jade pendant, separated it and handed one half of it to Zhang Jie.

Zhang Jie was full of smiles at his gift and said, "Thank you so much. I will gift something back when I am able to do so soon."

"It’s fine, don’t need to gift me something back.

"I went to Gui Feng City recently and thought that both of you would like this." Lin Xuan Qi said and Sima Long opened his eyes wide in surprise.

"How was it? Remember you promised to bring me along when..."

Cough.

Zhang Jie gave out a fake cough and Sima Long stopped himself.

Lin Xuan Qi shook his head at them, being comforted by the fact that they were still the same, forever bantering with each other.

"Gui Feng City was nice.

"It’s much more prosperous than Hong Feng City with the mines that are nearby.

"I’ve expanded two retail stores there and hopefully we would be able to get more income from the business there."

Sima Long’s eyes beamed with happiness when he heard Lin Xuan Qi.

But after a moment, he gave out a sigh.

He glanced out of the hall into the distance and said, "That’s great, we need whatever extra we can get."

Lin Xuan Qi figured that the ’we’ meant the Sima Family, and they must have been struggling to get back to their former glory.

His expansion of the business over to Gui Feng City and Bian Jing City would indirectly help Sima Long and Zhang Jie when the extra income materialized.

He hadn’t planned for it but he was glad to be able to help the situation of Sima Long and Zhang Jie.

They went on to chat about what he had seen in Gui Feng City and he talked about the spring outing he was planning soon. Sima Long was full of envy and wished that he could join.

But in actual fact, he couldn’t bear to be away from Zhang Jie.

They were talking about whether it would be a boy or girl for their child when Sima Ye entered the room.

"Master Sima Ye." Lin Xuan Qi cupped his hands at Sima Ye and greeted him.

He could see that Sima Ye was also looking tired like Sima Long was.

Sima Ye nodded his head at him and joined them at the table.

"How are you? I haven’t seen you in a while." He asked and Lin Xuan Qi went on to talk about his travel to Gui Feng City.

Lin Xuan Qi paused for a moment before asking, "Do you know anything about the Spirit Valley?"

"Spirit Valley?" Sima Ye frowned and shook his head at him.

He went on and said, "I have not been able to get in touch with the Qing Feng Sect for some time.

"I only know that an elder from the Alchemy Peak was in charge of it."

Lin Xuan Qi nodded his head and thought about what Sima Ye had said.

There were so many Qing Feng Sect disciples around and it was impossible for Sima Ye to not be able to be in touch with the Qing Feng Sect.

It was most likely a deliberate decision made by the Qing Feng Sect or even the Sima Family.

Sima Ye didn’t elaborate but it was a predictable move by the Qing Feng Sect or the Sima Family.

He was more concerned about the fact that Spirit Valley was handled by an elder, whereas Hong Feng City had the Sword Peak’s Peak Lord here.

Did it mean that the Qing Feng Sect was planning something even worse than what happened in Spirit Valley? He couldn’t help but come to this conclusion.

He didn’t know the answer without much of a clue, but he had to be prepared just in case his hunch was right.

"I heard that things went awry in Spirit Valley..." Lin Xuan Qi said to see if Sima Ye had any idea about it.

But Sima Ye was just as clueless as anyone else was.

He shook his head and replied, "All I know is that some of those that went in never came out alive.

"We can’t know for sure what happened inside.

"But it is something to be expected going into a secret realm."

Lin Xuan Qi pretended to nod in agreement but thought otherwise in his mind.

"Maybe there was something wrong with the secret realm." He said as a hint to Sima Ye.

But Sima Ye seemed to be disinterested in it.

He shrugged his shoulders with a jaded look and said, "Who knows?"

"I guess it’s something that we will never find out." Lin Xuan Qi replied and took a sip of his tea.

With Sima Ye being ostracized by the Qing Feng Sect and Sima Family, he was all on his own in the future.
