I Will Teach You How to Hunt Gods

Chapter 32: Terrifying Analytical Ability

"Friends from SWAT, go back and enjoy your vacation well. I'll handle everything here."

The words of the military Death God lightly drifted into the ears of the two officers.

It's laughable to think that just minutes ago, they had said similar words to the regular SWAT team members with a tone of politeness mixed with disdain, driving them away...

But now, similar words are being used on themselves.

They came to understand a truth personally: in Nest City, there is always someone with a higher status and stronger capabilities than you.

This is indeed a city of decay and corruption, yet it's also a place where talents are hidden.

However, veteran task force officer Saburo still didn't quite understand one thing.

In his memory, the temper of an Apprentice Death God is usually highly volatile, not to mention being attacked; even a slight grievance would certainly lead to retaliation.

But now, this Apprentice Death God dressed in army overcoat didn't do so.

Even though the young officer Xiao Shen opened fire at him, committing a substantial assassination attempt, he merely brushed off Xiao Shen lightly, even taking the initiative to exonerate him.

This character... to be honest, it doesn't resemble an Apprentice Death God, nor does it resemble the military personnel of Nest City nowadays.

But regardless of the case, Saburo dared not contemplate further.

The Apprentice Death God had spoken, and if they didn't leave now, it would truly be an act of ignorance.

"I understand, honorable Death God."

He pulled the still-stunned Xiao Shen, bowed deeply to the military Death God, and respectfully handed over the documents and computer in his hands, then hurriedly walked out after the latter accepted them.

However, just as Saburo reached the exit, he suddenly looked up, seeming to have remembered something.

"Honorable Death God."

He quietly inquired, "Is there anything else you wish to instruct?"

"Hmm... let me think."

The military Death God stroked his chin, speaking casually: "Well then, once you two return, don't bother finding a scapegoat. Just follow the conclusions previously drawn and report the Mad Spirit and mutant creatures perished together."

"I know Mad Spirit's teacher [Night Blindness] will certainly come looking for you, demanding documentation evidence. I also know you can't possibly keep the secret."

"So if he approaches you, and you indeed can't explain it, just tell him..."

"Someone named 'Jing' came here, took the data, and instructed you to report it as he said."

"In this way, he won't trouble you anymore."

Upon hearing this, Saburo was initially stunned, then his wrinkled face showed a slight joy that was visible to the naked eye.

The meaning behind the military Death God's words was essentially telling them not to worry about "failing in responsibility," nor fabricate stories to deceive higher-ups. They only need to report truthfully.

All responsibility would be borne by the military Death God alone.

How could Saburo not like such a superior willing to take charge proactively?

Thus, he nodded repeatedly to express gratitude, saying "I understand," and then swiftly ran off with his apprentice.

Seeing this... the military Death God still didn't say much, he simply flicked his fingers, sending an invisible strong gust from his fingertips and shredded the documents and computer on the ground completely.

After destroying the evidence, he walked into the alley, began observing the surroundings.

Nonetheless, his investigation differed from SWAT and the special police.

He didn't rush to look at the corpse nor wasted time on the trash heap where Mad Spirit lay dead; instead, he examined the bloodstains and scratches splattered on the wall bit by bit.

He was observing traces of the "battle."

And soon, the Apprentice Death God found what he wanted to see.

It was a blast crater on the wall of the alley, about one meter in diameter.

Nested at the center of the crater was a smaller hole.

Though their sizes differed vastly, for some reason, the shapes of the two pit holes were quite similar, like a proportionally enlarged punch.

"This punch pit was made by the same person."

The military Death God instantly recognized this.

"The inner small punch pit's force doesn't exceed a ton; while impressive from an ordinary person's perspective, it hasn't reached the 'extraordinary' standard."

"As for the outer large punch pit... at least has the level of an Apprentice Death God during the internship period."

"What exactly caused such a significant difference between the two? Was it talent ability or some kind of secret technique?"

He squinted, silently pondering.

"Hehe, interesting."

"It seems... Mad Spirit made an unfortunate decision by encountering someone who hides themselves... appearing harmless, yet without hesitation when it's time to act."

The military Death God smiled and sighed.

His words proved he had already figured out the truth behind this event, reconstructing the battle's process from a few tiny details and insignificant battle traces.

"Judging by the punch marks, the owner should be a young lady, no more than 17 years of age."

"Her fist bone is small, likely due to malnutrition, indicating she comes from the lower tier, the kind of individual who even struggles to fill her stomach."

"Yet her moves are incredibly fierce, with an exceedingly meticulous mind, seemingly preparing the assassination plan long beforehand to seize Mad Spirit's life in a remarkably short time."

"What a remarkable young girl."

The military Death God was lavish in his praise.

"It's just a pity that perhaps due to her youth, in the end, the plan wasn't flawless, leaving a little loophole."

"Overall, it's already formidable, a truly good seed... her talent and level are impeccable."

"Moreover, the most commendable part is..."

At this point, the military Death God paused.

He turned around, his gaze landed upon a line of corpses tidily placed on the ground.

These were the civilians killed by mutant creatures.

The military Death God slowly put away his smile, his expression gradually becoming solemn.

He walked step by step to the corpses, removed his gloves, and clasped his hand, suddenly emitting wisps of white light from his palm, wrapping the corpses completely.

Under the baptism of white light, the bloodstains on the corpses were gradually cleansed and eliminated, and their faces of terror and pain were wiped away, restored to calmness.

The military Death God seemingly was cleaning up the appearance of these deceased.

He closed his eyes, speaking in a solemn manor-like voice, slowly...

"May the innocent souls traverse the sea of suffering and reach their homeland on the other shore."

As the words fell, pure white light dots floated out from the corpses, as if they genuinely understood the military Death God's words, quietly drifting far away.

And only after everything had ended did he reopen his eyes and resumed his previous conversation.
