"How dare you touch me? Do you have any idea who I am?" Wang Han's face was ashen as he stared coldly at Chen Yang.
SLAP!
Chen Yang swung his hand and delivered another slap. "What I asked was, how much are you willing to pay for your life?"
Wang Han felt like he was going insane. He hit me, and now he wants me to pay to save my own life? What does he take me for?
Zheng Xiaoman and Zheng Xiaoduo instinctively exchanged glances, both seeing a mixture of horror and astonishment in each other's eyes.
This guy is so violent!
But then, they remembered Chen Yang's attitude toward Han Shaobai and relaxed. If he doesn't even care about the Martial Association, then who is Wang Han in comparison?
Zheng Xiaoman quickly stepped forward and tugged at Chen Yang's sleeve. "Mr. Chen, we all know each other here. Let's just let it go!"
Wang Han is one of my most important clients. If I weren't here, it would be one thing, but since I am, I can't just stand by and do nothing.
Chen Yang glanced at Zheng Xiaoman, then released his grip on Wang Han. "Since President Zheng has spoken, I'll let it slide out of respect for you."
"Thank you, Mr. Chen," Zheng Xiaoman said with a slight bow of gratitude.
Chen Yang said nothing further and walked straight away.
Zheng Xiaoman watched him go, a helpless expression on her face. This guy is completely impervious to reason. In all my years in the business world, I've never met anyone like him.
Turning to Wang Han, Zheng Xiaoman asked, "Mr. Wang, are you alright?"
"Hmph!" Wang Han stormed off without another word.
That slap had shattered his dignity. He couldn't stand to be there for another second.
"You little bastard," Wang Han swore through gritted teeth, "I'll find you even if I have to dig to the ends of the earth!"
Who do they think I am? When have I ever been subjected to something like this? If I don't get revenge for this, I'm not a man!
"Hehe, that was a great slap. It felt so satisfying to watch," Zheng Xiaoduo said with a giggle, her eyes crinkling into slits.
She had long been fed up with that pest Wang Han.
Zheng Xiaoman, however, looked troubled. After a humiliation like this, there's no telling what kind of crazy stunt Wang Han might pull.
"Sis, is there really no other way to handle Mr. Chen?" Zheng Xiaoduo's smile faded, and her mood sank as she pouted.
Zheng Xiaoman offered a reassuring smile. "He should be coming to sign the contract tomorrow. I'll find a way to create some obstacles, hopefully pressure him into giving in."
"Er…" Zheng Xiaoduo hesitated, saying with some embarrassment, "Is… is that really okay?"
"What's not okay about it? He has his convictions, so why can't I have my principles?" A smile touched the corner of Zheng Xiaoman's lips.
In truth, beyond her affection for Xiaoduo, Zheng Xiaoman felt a surge of desire to conquer him. The more he resisted, the more she wanted to force him to submit. For years, conquering had been her game, and she relished it.
Zheng Xiaoduo thought for a moment before nodding. "Alright then, but sister, you can't go too far!"
"Don't worry, I know my limits."
「Meanwhile, on the other side of the parking lot」
Seething with rage and anticipating his revenge, Han Shaobai marched toward his car, muttering furiously, "You made me a laughingstock today. How could I possibly let you get away with it? I'll make you pay with your life!"
"Didn't you bring this on yourself?"
Suddenly, a man's voice drifted from ahead, indifferent and utterly lifeless.
Han Shaobai instinctively looked up to see a tall man sitting on the hood of his car.
"Who are you?" Han Shaobai asked with a frown.
Who else could it be but Yang Hu?
Yang Hu lit a cigarette and took a leisurely drag. "Why is it," he said, exhaling slowly, "that people only know how to find fault in others and never reflect on themselves? Perhaps it's just an inherent flaw in human nature."
Han Shaobai's anger flared. "Who in the hell are you?" he demanded, his voice turning grim.
"The man who's sending you to hell."
Yang Hu turned, and amid the swirling smoke, he bared his teeth in a smile at Han Shaobai.
Han Shaobai was speechless.
The hairs on his arms stood on end. That smile… it's utterly sinister!
"Make my Boss pay with his life? Heh..." Yang Hu stood up and walked toward Han Shaobai, sneering. "Kid, do you have any idea what you're saying?"
"You... you're one of Chen Yang's men?" Han Shaobai asked warily, his gaze darkening.
"Using someone's full name can be quite impolite, you know," Yang Hu said with a smile. "You can call him the Governor, or the Zhennan Prince."
"What?!"
Han Shaobai's pupils shrank as if he had seen a ghost, his expression one of horror.
The... the Governor? How is that possible?
"I heard," Yang Hu said with a sardonic grin, "that you ambushed him, demanded my Boss kowtow and apologize, and even wanted to kill him? And you tried to steal from him, too?"
"This..."
The color drained from Han Shaobai's face, and his limbs went stiff. The intel said he was just a Centurion! How did he suddenly become the Zhennan Prince? But looking at this guy, there's no way he's lying.
"A misunderstanding! There must be a misunderstanding!" Han Shaobai waved his hands frantically. Not daring to stay a moment longer, he turned to leave.
But Yang Hu's hand clamped down on his shoulder. Yang Hu pointed up toward the sky. "The stars are so bright tonight. Why the hurry to leave?"
"Let go of me!" Han Shaobai struggled, but even with all his strength, he couldn't break free from the seemingly casual grip.
In an instant, the hairs on Han Shaobai's body stood on end, and his teeth began to chatter.
Yang Hu said nothing more and simply let him go.
However, before Han Shaobai could even take a step, the flicker of relief on his face froze solid.
A silver handgun was now pointed brazenly at him. Its dark, gaping muzzle was terrifying.
GULP.
Han Shaobai swallowed hard, tears welling up in his eyes.
What kind of person is this?!
Yang Hu tilted his head and spoke in a serious tone, "I let you go. Why aren't you leaving?"
"I..." Han Shaobai's face was ashen. How the hell am I supposed to leave when you're pointing a gun at me? Put it away if you've got the guts! This is just bullying!
"Since you're not leaving, let's talk," Yang Hu said with a smile. "Which do you prefer, Lingjin River or Cangmeng Mountain?"
"What do you mean?" Han Shaobai asked in terror.
Yang Hu continued, "It's all the same, really. You either feed the fish or you feed the wild beasts. But since you're the one who'll be dying, I figured I should at least ask your preference, right? We're civilized people, after all."
Han Shaobai was, once again, speechless.
"If you don't say anything, I'll just have to choose for you," Yang Hu said.
After a long moment, Han Shaobai finally found his voice, stammering in terror, "My master is Ye Nantian, a protector of the Martial Association! You... you dare to touch me?"
"People from the Martial Association are exactly who I'm here to kill."
Yang Hu snorted derisively, then made his decision. "They say the fish don't bite in winter. Let's go try our luck at Lingjin River."
With that, he knocked Han Shaobai unconscious and tossed him into the car.
Yang Hu nodded in satisfaction, muttering to himself, "Whether it's killing a man or anything else, being particular about it just makes things more interesting."
