Feeling the deadly gaze of a certain lizard only a few seconds after escaping from the swamp alligators, Galahad ignored the exhaustion that had started to set in and forced himself off the ground-

Swish-!

Just barely managing to avoid Scaly's deadly claws that had come down towards him with a terrifying force that would have undoubtedly been capable of slicing through the already badly damaged leather armor he was wearing.

However, Scaly didn't intend to stop her offensive and give her opponent the chance to recover, as she continued her attack with her claws.

"You- You didn't run away!?" Doing his best to block or dodge any of Scaly's attacks, Galahad could not help letting out a slightly surprised voice upon recognizing the one attacking him. Not only because he had already expected Scaly to have run away, but also because he hadn't expected her to be strong enough to actually fight him.

Having merely thought she was a rather unique lizard that had evolved to become really fast.

Not that surprising of a thought considering that the normal evolutions of lizards would be far larger when they reached the level of strength that Scaly was displaying. The only exceptions being some extremely rare cases that would be easily discernable to any adventurer who had just a bit of an understanding of lizards and their evolutions.

An unknown evolution like Scaly that he hadn't seen or heard of before was already rare. Not to mention, it was one that happened to be strong enough to compete with him.

"This is bad…!" Realizing just how bad his current situation was, Galahad didn't hesitate in the slightest to use everything at his disposal to try and escape from Scaly-

Whoosh~

Resulting in him throwing several small metal objects in the direction of Scaly, who could only tilt her head in confusion upon seeing the strange metal objects flying towards her. Not knowing what it was and not feeling any distinct threat from them.

Boom! Boom! Boom!

Only when these strange metal objects started exploding around, did she start to panic, as she quickly dodged the strange metal objects while trying her best to negate any damage from them exploding right next to her by using the scales on her body to absorb most of the damage.

Wha-what in the world was that!?

After having defended against the strange metal objects while only being lightly injured due to the terrifying defensive power of her scales, Scaly could not help feeling a bit scared as she thought about the strange metal objects that had just exploded around her.

Whoosh-!

However, this didn't last for long, as she soon noticed that the human knight had taken the opportunity while she was defending herself to escape back in the direction of the town… And so, without wasting any time, she chased after Galahad. Intending to try and kill him before he had a chance to escape from the swamp and ask the terrifying human from earlier for help.

Luckily, given that Galahad was already in an injured and exhausted state, it didn't take her long to catch up with him.

"You-! Can't you just let me go!?" Noticing that she had already caught up to him, Galahad began panicking as he rummaged through his pockets for a second before throwing out another handful of strange exploding metal objects.

Hmph! Don't think that will work on me again!

Seeing the exploding metal objects flying towards her again, Scaly could not help frowning disdainfully as she dashed forward without caring about them-

Boom! Boom! Boom!

And just as they began to explode like they had done before, she dived down on the ground and made full use of her scales to block most of the damage from the small explosions before getting back up to continue chasing after Galahad.

"No! GO AWAY!"

Realizing that he might actually not escape alive, Galahad could not help panicking even more than before, as he once again threw out a handful of the exploding metal objects. Only, this time around, there were clearly far fewer than before… And after doing the exact same thing as before to avoid any serious damage, Scaly realized that no more exploding metal objects came flying towards her.

He has run out of exploding metal things!

As this thought appeared, both of Scaly's eyes shone as she rushed forward with even more energy than before. Knowing that her opponent had run out of things to throw at her.

"Damnable lizard! You asked for it yourself!"

Chiing~

Fwoosh-!

Knowing this as well, Galahad turned around and used his sword to block Scaly's claws before his entire body was covered in an armor of fire.

Even if he knew that he stood little chance against Scaly in his current state.

Even if he knew that there wouldn't be anyone coming to save him this time around.

Even if he knew staying to fight her would give him an even lower chance of surviving his current situation.

He still decided to turn around and face Scaly instead of continuing to run away.

Not wanting to just allow the monster who had caused him to end up in his current pitiful situation to just slowly wear him down and kill him.

Instead, he preferred to at least go out on his own term, fighting to the death.

Even if he stood little chance of killing Scaly, he at least wanted to take one of her limbs with him before dying.

At least that way, it would be easier for the rest of the adventurers from the adventurer guild to search for the lizard in the future… And given his relationship with the church and the fact that he had managed to save one of their trainee acolytes from a deadly situation, there was also a chance that they would offer a reward for killing the monster behind his death!

Swish-!

With all of this in mind, Galahad charged towards Scaly with a terrifying momentum. Not caring about his life, as he just wanted to take Scaly down with him.
