Reincarnated as a Lizard

Chapter 123: Swept Away

Roar!

Not a second after she decided to not run away and instead stay to fight the monsters, the first of the monsters that had charged towards her, a yellowish boar more than four times her size, arrived in front of her filled with killing intent.

[Mountain Boar, lvl 38]

Inspecting it as it was about to charge into her, Scaly realized that it wasn't that much stronger than the big forest rabbits she had encountered back on the third floor of the dungeon.

Whoosh~!

And so, with that in mind, Scaly decided to test out her dragon water magic for the first time on this mountain boar, as a familiar water spear appeared next to her before flying directly towards the head of the mountain boar directly in front of her-

Ptsh-!

Boom!

[Gained 778 Exp]

However, different from the past when she used her water spear to attack, it didn't just pierce through the head of the mountain boar, but it also caused a small explosion after piercing through the head of the mountain boar. Essentially blowing up the head of the mountain boar. Killing it before it even had the chance to fight back against her strengthened water magic.

More importantly, the main reason why the mountain boar didn't stand a chance at dodging the water spear outside of the close range, was due to the fact that the speed of the water spear following her water magic being turned into water dragon magic had increased several times over.

In turn, her water spear had become far more difficult to dodge compared to before.

The only negative impact of her water magic turning into water dragon magic that she had found so far, was the fact that the mana required to use the water spear had more than tripled compared to the past.

If not for the fact that her magic had also grown explosively following her third evolution, she might not have been able to continue using her magic like she was used to.

Although… With the strength of her water spear increasing by so much following the evolution of her water magic, Scaly could not help feeling curious about her other water magic spells. More specifically, the simple water ball that she hadn't really been using much due to it being too weak to make any difference at her current level-

Whoosh-!

Whoosh-!

Whoosh-!

And so, turning towards the monsters who had momentarily frozen on the spot in shock over the fast demise of the mountain boar that had valiantly charged forward ahead of them, Scaly gathered her mana and conjured up a little over a dozen water balls before sending them towards the five closest monsters.

Even though the mana required for the water balls had essentially quadrupled, the mana required to send out a little over a dozen of them was around the same as what she had used for a single water spear.

If they were really useful in combat now, she would definitely prefer using her water balls more considering their still relatively low mana cost.

So, with that in mind, she curiously focused her attention on the five monsters as they each turned to defend against the incoming water balls flying towards them-

Bang! Bang! Bang!

Shortly after, the first few water balls collided with the five monsters-

BANG! Bang!

Following which the monsters were forced a few meters back, with one of them being unable to hold on, as it was send flying into a nearby tree. Shattering it, as the monster was knocked out in the process.

Roar!

ROooar!

Unfortunately, none of the monsters ended up dying to the water balls. Instead managing to stand strong, as they earlier fear towards Scaly disappeared significantly following her failed attempt to kill them.

However, Scaly wasn't that worried about this, as she accomplished her goal of confirming that her water ball had indeed grown stronger. More than strong enough to provide her assistance during battle. Instead of just being a distraction against anything but the weakest monsters.

Of course, outside of her two already well practiced spells, Scally had also begun to think about other ways that she could use her water magic.

For one, she was wondering what would happen to a water ball if she continued trying to inject mana into it.

Would it continue increasing in strength? Would it just grow bigger? Would it cause some kind of magical and qualitive change when the mana inside of it reached a certain level?

These thoughts kept swirling around inside her head as she looked at the monsters who had once again regained their confidence as they began approaching her.

Well… There is only one way to find out what will happen!

Narrowing both of her eyes as she thought this to herself while looking in the direction of the approaching monsters, Scaly casually conjured up a small water ball above her head.

Whoosh~

However, instead of sending it flying towards the approaching monsters, she instead began to pour her mana into the water ball. Curious to see just how much mana she would be able to pour into it.

Rumble~

In turn, the small water ball that had only been around the size of an apple rapidly began growing in size.

First reaching the size of a human head, before it reached a diameter of a meter, two meters, three meters… It kept growing in size without any limit in sight, causing the approaching monsters who had just regained their confidence to freeze up on spot once again, as a terrifying aura began to appear around the growing water ball above Scaly's head.

By the time that the water ball reached the diameter of around five meters, Scaly began losing control of it. Although not affecting her that much, she would undoubtedly end up being unable to control the water ball if it continued growing.

Then again, Scaly was set on trying to figure out how large she could make the water ball. Throwing cation to the side as she continued injecting her mana into the water ball that had by this point begun to tremble ever so slightly like it was about to collapse.

Roar…

Watching all of this playing out from a few meters away, the monsters all began to cautiously retreat. None of them wanting to be the ones having to face the might of this giant water ball.

As for trying to attack Scaly? None of them thought about this, as they knew the first to jump forward to do this would end up being the one that would be met with the might of the giant water ball, a fate that none of them wanted to experience.

In the end, the monsters and Scaly entered a truce, as they all just remained focused on the water ball that kept growing above Scaly's head. Growing more and more unstable the larger it became.

Slowly, it reached a diameter of 10 meters, a size that dwarfed any of the monsters that had by this point moved far away from where Scaly was standing.

However, in turn, the giant water ball had also become extremely unstable, as it was constantly trembling like it was about to blow up. Forcing Scaly to stop injecting any more mana into it, as doing so would break the fragile balance that had been established and cause it to break above her head.

Although she wouldn't really take much damage from being drenched in water, she was still aware that the sheer amount of water above her would be more than enough to sweep her away. Possibly causing her to be vulnerable to the attacks of the monsters watching her every move from a distance.

Even if they had retreated due to the large water ball, Scaly understood that they would jump into action again the moment it disappeared, and she was left in a precarious situation.

So, with that in mind, Scaly gathered all of her strength as she threw the giant water ball towards the closest group of monsters that had been keeping an eye on her-

RUUUMBLE-!

WHOOOSH-!

And before the monsters had any time to react, the giant water ball appeared directly above them, as it shattered before impact and brought with it a torrent of water that created a small, but powerful river that swept away around a dozen monsters.

Roooar!?

Roar!

Roar!?

And due to some kind of binding effect caused by the water in the giant water ball that Scaly had not accounted for, the dozen or so monsters were unable to fight back against the water, as they were dragged off a nearby ledge.

Soon finding themselves plummeting more than a hundred meters down into a small valley.
