My unbelievable life with CATS (Con and Thief system)

Chapter 50: A clean sweep

After leaving the VIP room, Dylan walked down the cruise ship corridor and headed downstairs to the storage warehouse, which was located behind the auditorium stage. When he reached the end of the hallway, he saw two guards in suits standing on either side of the door. Dylan stepped into an alleyway and leaned against the wall. He revealed himself, rubbed his face, and then, using his "1000 Faces" skill, transformed into the guard he'd ordered to jump into the sea.

With confidence, he stepped out of the alley and walked toward the door guarded by the two men.

"Hey, you two! Boss Marco called for you, fast," the disguised Dylan said.

"Huh... Boss Marco? Alright, please cover for us here," one guard replied, signaling the other to leave immediately.

"Sure thing, leave it to me," Dylan replied.

Dylan quickly glanced at the card-scanning device on the door. He used his "Pickpocket" skill to swipe a key card from the pocket of one of the guards before they walked past him. When the two guards reached the end of the corridor and turned the corner, Dylan immediately scanned his card and opened the door. He entered and closed the door behind him.

Inside, he saw many items, such as original famous paintings, seemingly expensive antique ceramics and vases, luxurious antique jewelry that appeared to be stolen, and other things. However, he noticed many separate alarms installed there. Without delay, he immediately used his "Disarm" skill to deactivate the individual alarms that were not connected to the main alarm system.

As he moved deeper inside, he saw a small wooden box, like a cigar box, placed on a special table covered with alarms. He disabled the alarms using his "Disarm" skill, then opened the box. Inside was a tiara that looked genuinely regal, perhaps belonging to a kingdom that still existed somewhere in the world.

"So, this is the main item that drew so many people to this auction?" Dylan asked.

[That is correct, sir. This tiara clearly belongs to us, right?]

"Haha... you got that right. Let's take it," Dylan replied.

Dylan immediately took the tiara and closed the box. He slipped the tiara into his bag, then turned to leave, but before that, he reactivated one of the alarms and, "crash," he smashed an antique vase. "Beep... beep... beep," the alarm blared loudly. Calmly, he waited while staying invisible. The door was flung open as several guards rushed in, opening the door wide, which could only be opened from the outside.

Calmly, Dylan walked out past the guards who were running into the storage warehouse, examining the tiara he had taken out and was holding in his hand. When he got off the ship, he saw the police had already surrounded the cruise liner, and the guard he had hypnotized was among them.

Several police officers, who looked like a SWAT team, ran into the ship. Then, gunshots were heard from inside the ship, and several people in luxurious attire ran out, immediately putting their hands up as they were held at gunpoint by the police.

"Wow... this is quite a show, huh," Dylan said from atop a ship smokestack, looking down.

[Indeed, sir. Amy is safe now.]

"Let's hope so," Dylan replied.

"Dling," a notification came through on Dylan's smartphone. He immediately looked at it, and $21,000 had been deposited into his account.

"Hmm... with this money, my house renovation is paid off," Dylan muttered in his head.

[That is correct, sir. We should leave here.]

"Ah, right... let's go, CATS," Dylan replied.

Dylan immediately pulled out his glider, then jumped and flew away, leaving the cruise ship that was still "busy" with the police and everyone inside.

Meanwhile, inside the cruise ship, in the secret escape corridor, Marco and Hans were running. When they reached the end of the corridor, a speedboat was visible, ready to leave on the other side of the cruise ship. But before Marco could move to step down, "click," Hans pointed his pistol at the back of Marco's head.

"He... hey... what's the big idea, Hans," Marco said, raising both hands.

"I'm here not just because you called me. I was asked to keep an eye on you by the leader, and as he predicted, you failed. So, the leader asked me to finish you off if you failed. Do you understand," Hans replied casually.

"Don't, Hans, give me one more chance. I'll succeed in becoming the head of my family and taking over that city," Marco pleaded.

"You just don't get it, do you? Tonight's auction was put on in collaboration with the mafia families in this country. If you don't have the leverage to take that tiara without having them auction it, it means they don't recognize you and you're incompetent. Besides, you still haven't managed to control your own family and have only made big promises. That's why the leader wants you dead," Hans replied casually.

"Grr... you traitor, I will never forgive you," Marco snarled.

"Like I said, I'm just following orders, so your grudge is pointless. Goodbye," Hans replied.

"Blam," Hans immediately shot Marco in the head. "Splash," Marco's body instantly fell into the sea and sank. Then Hans jumped onto the speedboat, and they left the cruise ship. Hans turned to look at the cruise ship behind him.

"Marco... you know... the moment the VIP room door opened, you already failed because that man was definitely present between us two. You truly are pathetic," Hans muttered, smiling, and turned back to face forward.
