"Master, we don't know if this information is important, but during our research we heard that certain people had entered the city carrying bounty offers for you."
"According to our sources, they are members of a noble family called the Axarel royal family…"
'WHAT?' Modret's eyes widened in shock, and he immediately paused in his movements, swiftly leaving the streets and rushing back to the inn.
Using the alleyways and a few side streets, he finally weaved through the crowd and entered his room, locking the door behind him.
He communicated with the shadow servant the moment he was inside the room. "Tell me everything you have gathered so far."
"Yes, master. According to our sources they arrived yesterday and ever since then they have been spreading posters of you everywhere. The bounty is 100,000 celestial cores."
'Damn!' Modret drew in a sharp breath. For a moment he wanted to sell himself off, but on second thought he ruled out the option.
'What the hell am I even thinking?' he laughed internally, then asked the shadow servant to continue.
"They have begun exploring the city, and some people have reported seeing someone with silver-blue hair. If my guess isn't wrong, they are still sweeping through the streets in search of you."
'Dammit!' Modret cursed inwardly.
First the Illuminati, and now the Axarel family—did they think he was easy to bully?
Modret was furious, and many dark thoughts surfaced in his mind.
"Good. Keep researching more information. I will contact you soon."
After giving the order, he disconnected from the shadow servant.
Knock! Knock! Knock!
A sharp sound echoed from the door and Modret's gaze sharpened. Lightning and fire danced around him as he said in a low, deep voice, "Come in."
There was a brief pause before the door was pushed open and a lady stepped inside.
It was Celine.
In her hand was a paper, folded. A faint smile tugged at her lips as she seductively stepped into the room, closing the door behind her.
"Modret, huh," she muttered and gradually unfurled the paper, a teasing expression appearing on her face.
Modret glanced at the paper and saw it was a bounty poster about him. He laughed, his expression casual, but his eyes flickered with killing intent as he asked, "What do you want?"
Celine was silent before saying something unexpected. "I want you to fuck me."
Modret was speechless—he hadn't expected that reply and couldn't come up with words to refute it.
Celine laughed, clutching her stomach. "So with how composed you are, you have your moments of awkwardness. You're a virgin, right?"
She brushed off the topic and this time, with a serious look, said, "I heard about what you did with my sister… fulfilling her heart's desires. You are truly a kind man, Modret."
"I'm guessing because of that you didn't sell me off?" Modret finally recovered his composure.
"Yes. Rather, I want you to run far from here. It'll be better if you stay safe in the meantime…" A teasing smirk curled her lips. "Perhaps in the future, I can satisfy you sexually for a chance to explore that serene sight above the skies."
Ignoring her teasing, Modret shook his head.
"I won't be running this time… I'm going to have my revenge."
Celine raised a brow.
"Do you know how strong the members of the Axarel family are? A galaxy-realm expert will definitely be there, and perhaps someone higher."
"How surprising that someone without an ability like you knows a lot about the world of ability awakeners," he remarked.
"I tend to get information from particularly unique sources…"
"I see." Modret didn't pry much into her means of getting information.
"I suggest you head to the black market. There you might find certain useful things, if need be. However, you should be cautious as well—there might be members of the Axarel family even there, waiting for you to fall into their trap."
"What's the black market about?"
"Oh, I forgot you're new here and you don't know much about the black market." Celine chuckled, then explained, "The black market is basically the dark side of every city. There you can obtain information, hire assassins who will be willing to set up a trap for you, and there's also a chance you might be lucky and acquire something truly unique there. Just remember to hide your identity because there are all sorts of people with unique abilities there."
Modret absorbed the information then asked, "Would you love to go to the black market with me?"
Celine giggled. "I'm just a woman without an ability. What's the need to endanger my life for a stranger?"
Modret nodded, feeling her statement was reasonable.
After that he asked her about the location of the black market along with a few other details before she finally left.
'Celine… just like her sister, I can sense something strange about her,' Modret thought with a frown.
Placing it at the back of his mind, he stood up and headed to the next room.
However, the moment he stepped outside he saw Axel standing outside the door, staring intently at Celine as she swayed her hips, departing from their location.
Cough… cough.
"Do you have feelings for her?" Modret asked, curiously watching Axel's face turn red with embarrassment.
"Uh, no, young master. I was just ensuring she posed no danger to you…" After speaking, Axel tried to force back his cold composure.
Modret just laughed, not minding it. "It's alright to have feelings for someone. You should try talking to her sometime…"
"Huh?" Axel was stunned; he glanced down at himself, at what he had become for Modret, and shook his head. "Young master. I… can't."
Modret understood what Axel was implying. Shaking his head, he smiled, "Perhaps we can do something about that in the future…"
Not wanting Axel to ask any more questions, he changed the topic. "My family are here and they seem to be looking for trouble. I plan to give them a taste of their own medicine."
"For that we'll have to head to the black market to start executing our plan."
"Yes, young master." Axel bowed politely.
