The Rise of Quetzalcoatl

Chapter 356: Worried Nuala

"Don't worry. There is no passage of time up here. In fact, I can send you back in time to make up for all of your mistakes. Your mother and father won't be affected… though their events will still occur. Your mother will still die and reunite with your father here…."

I looked up at the woman who almost looked at me with pity, her eyes glistening with a duo of teardrops gathering on her eyelids.

She doesn't seem as bad as others make her out to be….

"No, I'm fine. I'll lose everything I've worked towards over the years of my life. Going back in time and fixing every possible mistake I've made sounds sweet… but I don't feel like losing everything… on top of that, I feel you're hiding something from me,"

The woman paused and then smiled before slowly nodding.

I was enveloped in a warm light before I appeared in a hospital bed inside the same laboratory and testing center which was used for the new portal.

I immediately went to check the time to see if what the god was saying was the truth, and it seemed she was wrong… well, at least a day had passed since I entered, so I guess that's good for me.

"Huh? Lucy? Is that you?" A mellow voice called out to me, its sleepy properties signaling that she had just woken up. "Y-You look a bit different… did you evolve or something?"

"Nuala… ugh… are you there?" I asked, reaching out toward the darkness as my vision and hearing was a bit blurry.

There was a constant ringing in my ear, but before any of this could clear up, a soft embrace hugged me, their tears slowly soaking the collar of my shirt.

"I-I thought I lost you… I thought you were dead… I thought you had died," She sobbed into my chest, her arms wrapping tighter and tighter around me, but with my newly obtained stats, it was just like a normal hug.

A normal person might have been crushed and squeezed into an absolute pulp, but with me, I could only embrace her soothing warmth, which I, of course, reciprocated with my own tight and squeezing hug.

"It's okay," I slowly stroked the back of her head, letting her release all the pent up worry, anger, and anxiety into this one action. "I'm still alive. I won't die that easily."

When my foggy vision cleared up, I saw the beautiful woman with short silky blue hair and eyes like sparkling ocean gems.

She smelled pleasant, like a patch of flowers, but there was a tinge of saltiness to it as if she had been sweating from anxiety or bad dreams.

"I-If you died, I don't know what I would have done. I-I wouldn't be able to go on… you're the only thing I have left," She muttered, her tears and sad expression slowly turning into anger as she looked up at me with a harsh glare. "D-Don't you dare put yourself in that much danger again! Okay?!"

She may have been shouting at me, but the adorable red streaks from her tears puffed up her cheeks, and I couldn't help but hug her tighter as I held her in my embrace.

"I'm sorry," I smiled, and as she slowly began to calm down and drift down to my stomach, beginning to shift her way on top of me, her eyes met mine.

"Tch… You're so annoying," She clicked her tongue before putting her head down and shuffling the blanket over her so she could hug me as she fell asleep.

And seeing how she fell asleep almost instantly, I could tell she hadn't been sleeping properly.

"*sigh*... Okay, get some sleep," I chuckled lightly, slowly stroking her hair as she had already fallen asleep, and since I had nowhere to go, I decided to look towards my bedside table and see if my phone was there.

Though, to no avail, I found no device and could only wait a few hours until the sun had risen in order for me to actually get out of bed.

"Ugh… no… come back," Nuala meekly muttered, stretching her hand to my arm as I slowly began to walk towards the door.

"I'm not going anywhere. I'm just going to get my phone, so I can check up on my daughter… today is a special occasion because she is visiting the prince of Japan today. I'm pretty excited, to say the least,"

(Ada POV)

"Young miss, you cannot wear such clothes when meeting the prince. You have to wear nicer clothes otherwise he will think you are a bum. You need his favor for the sake of Tolf and for the sake of your mother," My maid nagged as I locked myself in my closet.

"I'm wearing what I want, or I'm not going!" I shouted, and I could audibly hear the maid sigh before walking out of the room, allowing me to breathe a sigh of relief.

Buzzzzzz… buzzzzzz… buzzzzzzzz…

Suddenly, my pocket vibrated, and when I took out my phone, I, of course, saw my mother's contact calling me.

"God dammit… that maid is blackmailing me…." I gritted my teeth and decided to put on my most pitiful voice otherwise, I'll be forced to wear a dress.

I swiftly swiped right and then put the phone to my ear, allowing me to hear my mother's voice which was a bit scratchy.

"Honey, good morning… are you doing well?" Mother asked, and the way she was speaking made it seem like she was unaware of the current situation, so I decided to just relax and talk to my mother.

I couldn't help but smile as I heard her voice since it was so comforting and soothing to hear.

"I'm doing good. Just getting ready to go visit the prince. Is there something you need, or did you just want to check up on me?"

"I just wanted to check up on you. Also, make sure to wear a beautiful dress! Okay! Love you! Gotta go!" She exclaimed, and before I could refute it, she hung up the phone.

"Urghhhhh… FUCK!"
