The Rise of Quetzalcoatl

Chapter 247: Slight Problem and Returning

A-A unicorn? A UNICORN?! THERE ARE UNICORNS!?

I could hardly contain my excitement, but as I entered the base, a few men in thick metal gear holding long metal spears stopped me in my tracks.

"Who do you think you are? Did you not hear our warning?" One of them uttered through their thick metal helmets.

"And who do you think you are?" I smiled, ready to beat the shit out of them.

"Please don't fight. I can explain,"

Suddenly, the muscular and noble-like woman who I had met before stepped in between us, making the guards back up and immediately begin apologizing.

"What happened here?" I smirked before taking a peek over the woman's broad shoulders… and holy shit, were they wide.

I had to get on my tippy toes just to see a few centimeters over and what I saw made me frown a bit.

There was a noble tundra snake with his powerful guards standing around him, forcing all of this woman's subordinates to the ends of the room.

Everybody was shivering with fear as these guards were very powerful, maybe even more powerful than the woman covering me with her body.

"Need help," I whispered from behind her, and as she slowly moved her hand behind her back, she gave me a thumbs up.

But, just as my eyes went cold, I heard her whisper, "Wait, not yet…."

So, like the benevolent woman I was, I let the muscular tundra snake do her own thing, and that was to most likely gain as much information on the situation as possible.

"Why have you come here, brother?"

The way she said brother had a bit of anger, as if she didn't want to see him right now… and just judging from his disgusting expression, I could sympathize with her reaction.

"Father told me to come to collect you. You haven't been at the mansion for quite some time, and he's worried about you,"

"And why should I come back? I'm sure you know I despise all of your guts… even if you give me a pile of gold, I won't dare to even look in my father's direction,"

"Well, sorry about that, but I can't come back unless you come with me. Now, be a good girl, and let us collect you," The man said as if the woman in front of her was a toy or just some inanimate thing used for trading.

As soon as the woman clicked her tongue, a clash of ice appeared in the middle of the room, both siblings clearly fighting with their own magic.

They were both equal until the guards surrounding the man charged toward her, the muscular snakes' subordinates immediately trying to escape.

But, their icy confines quickly constricted around them, immobilizing them even further as they were forced to watch their chief get kidnapped… of course, that would've happened if I wasn't here.

FWOOSH

A blast of flames erupted from behind the muscular woman, allowing me to slip past and block all four of the swords swinging towards her.

A flurry of sword attacks came down on me, but I blocked them with ease and then relit my sword of flames, allowing the green fire to blast towards the knights.

They tried to hit me again after dodging the wave of flames, but my sword was way too fast for them to even land a hit on me… though they were clearly getting faster.

FWOOSH

I sent another wave of flames at them, this time making them as large and as powerful as possible.

But, they dodged and showered me with cuts, forcing me to just cover the entire room with flames.

They immediately began to crumble into ash, and the noble behind had already wet himself and fell back on his ass as the flames began to shape around him.

"You're quite cute. You could be popular with the ladies if you didn't have such a shit personality," I muttered before walking back to the muscular woman's side.

The man glared at me with piercing eyes, but before he could get up and even so much as attempt to slap me, the muscular woman stepped up and kicked him out of the base.

He was stuffed in his carriage, but before the woman directed the driver to send him off, I stepped in.

"Wait… Can I… Can I get one of the unicorns?"

My eyes were practically sparkling with excitement as I looked at the woman who gave in immediately.

"*sigh*... Whatever… but why do you want one? You could just get one from the city?"

"Well, I never saw any, and I really want one. I've always wanted one since I was a kid, and everything about this is luscious and amazing. I just want to touch them, ride them, pet their soft fur, ride them, feed them rainbows, ride them, ride them, ride them, ride them-"

"Okay, okay, I get it. You can have one of them," She sighed, and in the blink of an eye, I was riding off into the sunset- sunrise, leaving the woman behind.

Oh wait, I forgot to get her name.

"Is Cora not back yet?" I asked one of the few strongest soldiers who stayed behind as soon as I hopped off my unicorn.

Clearly, it already liked me as I fed it practically everything edible that I saw on the way here.

"Can unicorns eat meat? Probably not, right?" I asked the man yet another question before he could answer the first one.

"F-For the first question… Commander Cora has not come back yet, though we've received many messages. And unicorns can not eat meat,"

"I see… thank you very much,"

"S-Sure,"

My soldiers definitily thought I was a weirdo that day I was riding off the high of having a unicorn… and literally riding the unicorn every chance I got.

Whenever I was eating, I was riding the unicorn. Whenever I was working, I was riding the unicorn. Whenever I was doing anything but, uhhhh… using the bathroom, I was riding the unicorn.

The next day came by very quickly, and somebody had stopped by to drop off a message sent by Cora.

"This is from the messenger. He takes their only horse to and from the base and to their next rendezvous spot so he can also help out," A soldier said as he handed me the message sealed with some kind of magic.

I quickly broke it with just my fingers and read the poorly written letter.

"Hmmmm… I see, I see… Okay, they'll be coming back in a few more days. They discovered a few dark elven camps, which they've eradicated, and have even found another exit to the outside of the dukedom's walls… very good,"

"Miss, there have also been sightings of dark elves sneaking around our camp. But, we have no clue where they're coming from," The soldiers added after I finished reading the letter.

Cora really needs to work on her writing… I could barely make that out, and this new information… is it true?

"Really? Have you not tracked them yet?" I asked.

"Not without your permission, commander. It could be some kind of trap, and we wanted your insight on this,"

"Hmmmm… Okay… How many people know about this?" I asked.

"Including me, the three others you assigned to the camp. We are currently just awaiting your orders,"

"Then don't tell anybody about this. I have a feeling they'll be coming after me tonight, so I want all of you to wait inside my room… you all should be able to hide your presence, right?" I asked with a smug smile on my face.

"Of course," He responded with a serious expression.

He thought I wouldn't be able to tell he was hiding his assassination-like skills, but just judging from how silent his footsteps are, I can tell he's been trained in that field.

"Is… Is that why you ordered us to stay here? You were aware this entire time?"

"Maybe…. Anyway, you should try using louder footsteps the next time you're around people. Normal people most likely won't notice, but we definitely noticed,"

"Thank you for your guidance,"

And soon, night came.
