Faylorna sat up and to her surprise she truly had been healed. "Even the cracks are gone. You have been hiding a truly incredible gift girl."
klaire beamed with pride, but then realised something. "I just realised, you talk to me like Lillim used to speak to you."
Faylorna became flushed. "Well you kissed your grandmother-in-law. Let's not try to embarrass each other."
Klaire became flushed as well, despite the fact that it was technically only Faylorna Lillim kissed and quickly agreed, then Faylorna told Klaire to open a portal back to Lunelia.
"I can't do that, I can open a portal, but god knows where it will lead. I don't know the coordinates or anything." The words made Faylorna grumble about the fickleness of her talent.
Faylorna opened up the portal instead and they went back to Lunelia. The moment they appeared, Sis, Ki-ko and Tiamutael appeared and both tackled them to the ground.
"What the hell happened!? You were gone for like twenty seconds and leveled up like six hundred times and got another star!"
"You okay Mama Klaire? Auntie Sis was worried about you a lot."
"All I could see was some very blurry movement, then Mum standing in a circle, then more blurry movement."
As Faylorna tried to push them all away, she realised that Klaire was holding all four of them making it impossible.
"I'm fine babies, not sure how I leveled up so much or got another star. Can we get up? Granny Faylorna might actually cry if she gets overpowered by you guys as well." Klaire chuckled and released them.
"Klaire, are you worried about the potential of being forever eighteen when you become immortal?"
Klaire froze, head jerking immediately in Faylorna's direction. "Well I am now! I'm at four stars, if I get another one I won't even be fully developed!..."
Faylorna milked the moment to make up for the forced display of affection before she finally put Klaire's mind to rest. "Well stop ranting for a moment because there's no need, you will mature until your body has reached its prime, overwise the elder gods would all be infants."
Klaire sighed with relief, then realised what Faylorna did. "Oh yeah, would everyone like to know how Lillim and Faylorna met?"
Faylorna opened a portal beneath them all to Haven and let them all drop in hard, although she let the children know in advance.
As Klaire and Sis laid on the floor giggling to themselves and tiamutael and Ki-ko were about to join just to cuddle, Faylorna suddenly shouted through for them to come back through.
"What the hell?" Klaire asked, genuinely curious what could cause Faylorna to speak with something even vaguely concern-adjacent.
When she jumped back through the portal, she was greeted by the sight of Blain wheezing.
"Noah... Gillian... Need... Back-up..." He was doubled over with his hands on his knees to support himself.
"What happened?"
The next thing she knew she was looking at Gillian and Noah desperately defending Majesty from a massive onslaught of some new breed of The Carrion.
These creatures were not like any of the previous specimens, they were bipedal and standing upright with blades that glowed like the cannon-types before firing. To make matters worse, they were moving with far greater coordination.
Klaire wasn't willing to stand-by and observe, she covered Tiamutael, Gillian, Noah and Majesty in her aura, then howled and ripped all their souls out at once.
As The Carrion fell still, Klaie swapped the aura to a denser barrier to better protect against physical attacks, but even as she did that she had produced a marksman rifle with sunlight rounds and was opening fire on them.
"Pull back everyone! If they self-destruct my barrier might not ho-" As she gave the warning, each one that she had shot detonated, causing a chain reaction that led into the hive.
"Thanks for the help! Was it necessary to make me crap myself acting like the barrier wouldn't hold though?"
"Sorry Gil, honestly didn't know, guess six-hundred levels and my fourth star made a big difference."
"No shit, Woman! What the hell did you do since Carl left?"
"You know... lots."
"LOTS!?" Gillian and Noah shouted in unison as they fell back.
"Focus! We can talk about that later... What the hell happened?" Klaire walked over, letting her soul-form detach and feast on the souls as the others watched in stunned silence.
It was Noah who pulled himself together first. "We don't know what happened, we were studying the royal guard, then all of a sudden there was a swell of activity... Like they were responding to something it considered an actual threat..." Noah trailed off and everyone realised it was likely Klaire's exploding power.
"Damn it, sorry guys... What happened to Majesty and the royal guard?"
"Reaga and Orm are down keeping an eye on the situation... They broke apart to cut off the explosions, it seems that all the royal guards are either dead or on death's door. The moment the tide changed, they converged to evacuate us. Gillian was out here getting ready to go down and train."
Klaire considered the situation for a moment. "Majesty, stay here and repopulate under existing boundaries. Noah, tell Reaga and Orm to paralyse them. Me, did you want to go put our strength to the test?"
"It would be wise to push them back, given Carl's goal, we should reclaim what they took from us. Then we should restore the balance and see how they respond."
"Well? You hear me."
"Klaire... What is ha-... Oh right, later."
"Exactly. I'll go on ahead, have Orm come and guide me, then when I send a message, follow with the royal guard and get them stationed."
Klaire didn't wait for confirmation, nor did she leave it up for debate, she simply started marching as her soul-form merged back into her.
Noah and Blaine looked at each other, then made to follow, then a short while later there was a howl and the steady thrum that had been making the ground vibrate ceased immediately.
Reaga emerged a short time later. "I don't think Klaire is in a playful mood."
As they followed in Klaire's wake a brief distance, The Carrion's losses were immeasurable. Gillian and Noah, tried and failed to comprehend the power she was exhibiting.
When the time came for them to implement the plan the true extent of Klaire's path of destruction was horrific. Her display of what it means to be a living weapon left them certain that if anything they were glad not to be her enemy.
When they finally caught up to her, they asked what next...
She led them back to the surface and when they were out of earshot she finally spoke.
"I'm getting sick of mistrusting her. It's pointless since Carl could simply erase the planet, create a volcano, or simply increase gravity. We're tying our hands for no reason."
"What do you mean no reason?"
"Seriously, anyone scared of Majesty at this point is just being ridiculous, I get the initial caution but she hasn't given us any reason to doubt her. I don't think we should alienate power."
"Alienating power and keeping everyone safe from a species that could overrun us are two very things." Gillian retorted with no small amount of annoyance.
"Overrun us?... Sorry sweetie, can you come take us five levels down?"
Before they knew it, Tiamutael had taken them into an almost solid mass of The Carrion, she kept them all safe with a barrier, produced a gatling-gun and unleashed a barrage of standard rounds to clear an area, then sent her soul-form out to howl.
"Sweetie, anything left on this floor?"
"No mum, all their souls were extracted, a human child could probably finish them all off in time."
"Happy Gil? It isn't fair to treat Majesty like a killing machine, if you want to treat her like one, you might be better off putting a leash on me."
Gillian tensed with anger. "That isn't what I was saying and you know it. She has the potential to over run the world."
"So do I, so does Carl, Lillim, Kyubi, Faylorna, Bahamut, Tiamat, Alysse and her nanites and you in case you forgot. We're all omina-class threats at this point. It's our job to keep our worlds safe."
"Gil, my instincts tell me you're right... She makes a good point though, sometimes treating a beast like a danger is what makes them one. What if restraining Majesty is what causes her to go rampant?" Noah was speaking far more diplomatically than Klaire, which made it easier for him to listen.
"Fine, so we test her and if she passes the test, she earns the right to contain The Carrion autonomously."
"Glad you agree, besides, imagine dropping an army of her offspring right into the variant's base with a "destroy everything in sight" order."
"Oh wow, I figured you were repressing some anger, but that is next-level even for you..."
Klaire outlined the plan to let Majesty earn their trust.
It was simple, let Majesty get over run and see if she acts without orders, they would all stand ready with Tiamutael's eyes and appear at the last second.
