The Forsaken's Revenge

Chapter 229: The Effect is Obvious!

He had a clear understanding of the family's finances. With his grandfather still alive and well, the old man was the one in charge.

Although he had been designated the heir, surely he couldn't just give away assets so arbitrarily?

Hearing his words, everyone was stunned, especially Wei Zixuan, whose face showed a hint of surprise.

She hadn't expected Chen Zheng to agree to such outrageous conditions without a moment's hesitation!

As this thought crossed her mind, a wave of warmth spread through her heart, and her eyes began to moisten.

Next to her, Zhang Chen also nodded slowly, certain he hadn't misjudged his son-in-law. To be honest, he'd had some worries about the relationship between the two of them, but now he could finally put his mind at ease.

"Madam Xu," Chen Jianguo began, addressing her directly, "since my grandson has already agreed, I have nothing more to say. In the future, the Chen Family's assets are his to manage! Since Chen Zheng has said that Zi Xuan owns half of these assets, then let it be so!"

Having been bedridden for years, he had grown indifferent to many things. For him, as long as the young couple could live their lives in peace, what did it matter if they gave away half of the family fortune?

"'Now this is more like it...'" Xu Fang hummed, undeniably satisfied.

For her, the bond between husband and wife wasn't that important. What was crucial was that a woman must achieve financial freedom in her marriage! At the very least, she needed her own security. That way, even if problems arose in the future, she wouldn't be left with nothing—no husband and no money.

And so, the matter came to an end.

Xu Fang got everything she wanted. They all chatted for a while longer, enjoyed a delightful dinner, and afterward, Chen Zheng personally saw Zhang Chen and Xu Fang back to the Royal Hotel.

They were staying in the presidential suite, but Xu Fang found it somewhat uncomfortable.

"Husband, now that we're in Yunshan, we can't just keep staying in a hotel, can we?"

"How about we go look at houses tomorrow? Both our daughters are in Yunshan now, so we can't keep traveling back and forth. Why don't we just settle down here?"

No sooner had Chen Zheng left than Xu Fang began discussing the matter of buying a house with Zhang Chen.

Zhang Chen was surprised, but he had to admit his wife had a point. With both their daughters in Yunshan, it was inevitable that they would need a place there sooner or later.

"Alright," he agreed, slowly nodding. "We'll find time to have a look. When I arrived today, I saw an advertisement for a villa complex in the south called the Jiangnan District. Let's find some time to check it out; we might find something suitable."

Chen Zheng was always a man of his word; his promises were unbreakable. That very evening, he arranged to have the Royal Hotel's ownership transferred to Wei Zixuan's name.

When Wei Zixuan received the news after returning to the small courtyard, she was at a loss for how to react.

In truth, she didn't care whether the hotel was in her name. What Wei Zixuan cared about was whether the man she married truly and sincerely loved her! Based on the current situation, Chen Zheng seemed to be a very trustworthy person.

"Actually, you don't have to pay any mind to my mom's pestering," Wei Zixuan said softly, sitting on the edge of the bed and looking down at Chen Zheng preparing his makeshift bed on the floor.

For the past two days, Chen Zheng had been sleeping on the floor. His grandfather was urgently pressuring them to have children, so they couldn't risk sleeping in separate rooms. This left him with no choice but to sleep on the ground.

Chen Zheng looked up and laughed lightly. "Even if your mom hadn't said anything, I would have done it anyway. After all, you're my wife. Everything I have now should have been yours to begin with. It's nothing."

Hearing his words, Wei Zixuan felt a delightful flutter in her heart. She glanced at Chen Zheng, who was still setting up his bedding, and patted the space beside her on the bed. "Why don't you... come up and sleep on the bed tonight?"

Upon hearing this, Chen Zheng immediately sat up, looking at Wei Zixuan with great anticipation. "Does this mean... your 'inconvenient time' is over?"

"Go away..." Wei Zixuan's face turned crimson instantly, and she slowly lowered her head. "There are still several days to go. I'm just letting you up here because I don't want you to catch a cold on the floor!"

Chen Zheng was left speechless.

「The next morning」

Wei Zixuan personally went to the kitchen to make breakfast.

Chen Yan's fruit shop business was booming. She was so busy working from dawn till dusk that she eventually just moved into the shop. As the granddaughter-in-law, Wei Zixuan seamlessly took over the responsibility of caring for the old patriarch.

Chen Jianguo was extremely satisfied with her; she was a vast improvement over Chen Zifan's wife.

During this time, Chen Zifan had even brought Zhang Xiuqin back to beg Chen Jianguo not to kick their family out. Their lives had become incredibly bleak. Chen Zifan's accounts were completely frozen, forcing him to live on borrowed money. He was the former young master of the Chen Family. Having never held a job, he had no idea how to earn money.

Of course, Chen Jianguo refused. He had already driven them out and couldn't possibly let them return. However, Chen Zifan was still his eldest grandson. As a grandfather, he couldn't help but be concerned, so he secretly gave him some money. The couple still had two children to raise, and he couldn't be entirely heartless.

Chen Zheng naturally feigned ignorance about all this. They were family, after all. Even if ties were completely severed, some form of contact would inevitably remain. He loathed Chen Sheng with a passion, but he could turn a blind eye to Chen Zifan.

With nothing else to do for the past two days, Chen Zheng began studying the *Tong Meng Dan Jing*.

There were no leads on the Zhu Ling Grass yet, but the manual contained methods for more than just the Yuan Dan. It also had recipes for other pills, like the Xiao Yuan Dan. This pill's potency was much weaker than the Yuan Dan's, but it could rapidly restore a person's vitality, strengthen their body, and even purge hidden ailments. The effects were remarkably clear.

For Chen Zheng, something like this was of little use. But for Xu Da and the other trusted aides, it would be immensely beneficial. For that reason, he refined a few in his spare time and had Xu Da take one to test the effects.

The results proved to be incredibly significant. After taking the pill, Xu Da stayed awake for two days and nights straight and still felt exceptionally energetic.

"Brother-in-law, this stuff is amazing! I feel full of energy, like I have an inexhaustible supply of strength!" Xu Da couldn't resist showing off to Chen Zheng before he went looking for Zhao Feng.

The result was predictable: he was thoroughly thrashed.
