The Soul Sealing Orb shattered into countless pieces, scattering across the floor. Garasu looked at the fragments in panic, aware of the skillfulness of the spirit trapped inside. White smoke, like mist, emanated from the broken orb and coalesced into the spirit of a young, handsome samurai who seemed eager to unleash his pent-up rage.
Chang Long quickly used the spirit tablet to touch Tokura Hisa's semi-transparent form again, allowing her to command his spirit in battle. Garasu, stunned by the sight of the spirit tablet in Chang Long's hand, quickly backed away from her.
"Who are you exactly!"
Garasu shouted at Chang Long in rage. His hopes shattered along with the orb, leaving him seething with a desire to tear her apart.
"Me? I'm a dear friend of Tokura Hisa."
Chang Long replied after naming Hisa-chan and regaining control of the strongest samurai spirit.
"A friend? So, you've been deceiving me all along!"
Garasu glared at Chang Long with a murderous look, his eyes turning blood-red with fury.
"Master Garasu, there are numerous samurai from the Sanada clan surrounding this area!"
Saemon ran in, reporting frantically.
"The Sanada clan? Why would they come here, knowing they can never defeat me!"
Garasu was irritated that his plan had failed miserably, and that the Sanada clan was now attacking.
"Tough luck."
Chang Long taunted, making Garasu grit his teeth in fury.
"Do you think you can defeat me with such tricks? Do you know why the Sanada clan has never been able to conquer me?"
Garasu asked, his voice chillingly cold. He looked at Chang Long the same gaze as before, the gaze that he would cast at a dead man. He then reached into a hidden compartment in his desk and pulled out a gray, murky Soul Sealing Orb.
"M... Master Garasu, that's—!"
Saemon exclaimed in shock upon seeing the orb.
"Hehehe. I never wanted to consume the spirit of a beast, as it might prevent me from maintaining my human form. But it seems you are a shaman. Good! I'll show you something truly spectacular."
Garasu grinned malevolently at Chang Long. Saemon and the others in the room quickly fled, shutting the door and leaving Chang Long alone with Garasu.
Garasu raised the Soul Sealing Orb to his mouth and began chewing it until it shattered. A dark, murky mist emanated from his mouth, enveloping his body slowly.
"Do you know the difference between a soul eater and a shaman?"
Garasu asked, his voice calm as if he had never been angry with her. Chang Long shook her head, having no knowledge of other classes' details or even if a soul eater was a class.
"A soul eater can accumulate the souls of people or beasts to consume. The consumed souls become a part of the person, making the eater infinitely stronger over time, unlike a shaman... But the severe limitation of a soul eater is that they cannot consume souls that are too different from humans or those much stronger than themselves, because it will cause... Ugh!"
Garasu's explanation was cut short as he collapsed to the ground, his face contorted in pain.
"Arghhhhh!"
Garasu's agonized scream made Chang Long's skin crawl. The dense mist shrouded his form, preventing her from seeing what was happening.
A gust of wind dispersed the gray mist enveloping Garasu. Revealing a sight that left Chang Long wide-eyed in disbelief as the being before her had transformed completely.
"Garasu Beast King, Level 120, preparing to attack!"
The system alert prompted Chang Long to quickly summon Hisa-chan to possess her. She retreated to gain some distance. Garasu Beast King was the head of Crow Group, Garasu. He now sported black wings sprouting from his back, and his arms below the elbows and legs from the chest down were covered in dark gray feathers. His hands and feet had morphed into talons like those of a predatory bird. His eyes were now entirely black, and his lips curved downward, resembling a bird's beak. His chest was a pale gray, signifying he had lost his humanity.
"He's no longer human!"
Hisa-chan said grimly.
"Level 120!"
Chang Long muttered, her expression tense as Garasu Beast King, charged at her with startling speed.
She dodged effortlessly, turning to prepare for Garasu's next attack, adopting a stance reminiscent of a samurai ready to attack with his sword.
Swish!
The sword was drawn from its scabbard with lightning speed, its blade aimed straight at Garasu. He flapped his wings, narrowly avoiding the strike, and grinned malevolently, attacking Chang Long again with doubled speed.
Slash!
"Argh!"
Garasu howled in pain as the sword, which was slashed in a sheathing manner, struck his side, causing blood to spurt out. He retreated in panic, flying to the far end of the room to gain his footing.
"Y... you!"
Garasu glared at Chang Long with anger.
"Oh? You can still talk?"
Chang Long observed Garasu, now barely recognizable as human curiously. He hovered high, staying out of her attack range, taking advantage of the room's high ceiling.
"Your punishment for making me like this is death! Hundred Deaths!"
Garasu shouted, flapping his wings violently, causing his feathers to scatter rapidly toward Chang Long.
"What is this?"
Chang Long looked at the feathers in confusion, reaching out to touch one out of curiosity.
'Don't!'
Davy-chan warned aloud, but it came too late...
Boomm!
The thunderous explosion sent Chang Long flying several meters. Along the way, more feathers detonated upon contact with her body. Eventually, she slammed into the wall, cracking it before collapsing to the floor in a battered state.
"Hehehe, Tokura Hisa, the great samurai. I'm disappointed in your power. You barely survived my Hundred Deaths, hahaha!"
Garasu laughed maniacally at Chang Long's pitiful condition after Hisa-chan possessed her.
"Don't boast too much, you talking bird freak!"
Chang Long used her sword to prop herself up, taunting Garasu fearlessly. He stopped laughing abruptly, glaring at her with renewed malice.
"Who's the real boaster? Thousand Deaths!"
Garasu roared, revoking the second stage of his skill. Chang Long looked with wide eyes at the summoned dark gray feathers, its number was greater than before.
"I barely survived last time, and now there's more!"
Chang Long muttered in frustration, looking for something she could use. She spotted Garasu's red futon nearby and quickly grabbed it.
She threw the futon and pillows at the approaching deadly feathers, triggering a massive explosion that shook the floor. Shredded fabric filled the room, and as visibility returned, Chang Long saw Garasu grinning at her wickedly. He summoned his deadly feathers again, but this time it was not just a hundred or thousand.
"Ten Thousand Deaths!"
"Damn it! Can't you give me a break? Spread wings!"
Chang Long shouted back, commanding her large gray wings to unfurl and fan out from her back. Then, she took the most stable stance and activated her Eye of Wind skill.
"Tornado Wing!"
At her command, her wings arched behind before flapping powerfully, generating a strong gust that formed a small whirlwind on the floor. The whirlwind grew rapidly, fueled by her level 130 strength.
"Oh my God!"
Chang Long was as surprised as Garasu, who panicked and desperately sought an escape. His deadly feathers were sucked into the tornado without exploding, creating a swirling vortex filled with black spots. Everything in the room, including Garasu himself, was drawn into the rapidly expanding tornado.
The room's floor and ceiling cracked, and eventually, the building began to collapse. The tornado burst outside, where an intense battle between Chang Long's friends, the Sanada clan, and the Crow members was underway. Everyone stared in awe at the massive tornado with explosive force inside, halting their fight abruptly.
Chang Long saw the building crumbling around her and followed the tornado out, fearing she would be crushed. Outside, she heard the chaotic shouts of many people, who seemed more like they were fleeing than fighting. She landed on a nearby rooftop to assess the situation.
"Master!"
Kitsune called out in relief as he saw Chang Long emerge safely from the collapsing building.
"Where's your master? Isn't that Hisa-chan?"
Peach Blossom asked, following Kitsune's gaze but seeing only Hisa-chan, who now looked almost human, standing on top of a building surveying the scene.
"That's master! Maybe it is because Hisa-chan is possessing her, she looks different."
Kitsune explained, and the others gathered around finally understood.
"Kitsune, are there only Crow Group members here?"
Chang Long asked, worried about potential system penalties from her tornado, which had destroyed buildings and many AIs in the vicinity.
"I believe so, Master. Everyone here was holding weapon and attacking us, even the weaker-looking women."
Kitsune's response eased Chang Long's concerns somewhat.
"Good. O... ouch, Spirit Summoning, Hisa-chan."
Chang Long felt a sharp pain in her sword arm and quickly released Hisa-chan from her body, even though she had only been possessed for about twenty minutes.
"Master!"
Kitsune quickly jumped up to Chang Long as she collapsed onto the roof, clearly in pain. His agility had improved remarkably after their time, traveling and fighting together.
"It's nothing. Just the side effects of hosting a spirit much higher level than myself."
Chang Long replied cheerfully, taking the last of the black rose tea from Kitsune to drink.
"Let's clean this place up!"
Chang Long smiled despite the muscle pain, examining the Eyes on her Sovereign Sword.
"Clean up?"
Everyone echoed.
"Yeah, it's a mission, isn't it?"
Chang Long grinned slyly. The group knew it was time to wreak havoc. They stood up, readying their weapons for a thorough sweep of the area.
"Should I go inform the Sanada clan to pull back their forces to avoid any accidents!"
Kimhant volunteered, knowing he would not be much help in the fight, holding his camera ready to capture the best shots.
"Fine... If you're taking pictures, make sure they are wide shots, don't focus on just one person. Unless, anyone wants to be on the papers?"
Chang Long asked her friends, already knowing who would raise his hand.
"Oh! Got it, Can. I'll make sure your pictures turn out so cool that the girls will faint at the sight!"
Kimhant boasted confidently.
"Good determination, kid. Now hurry and tell the Sanada clan. Or you'll miss my awesome moments!"
Wet Trash Can said with a beaming smile, glad someone recognized his coolness.
"Alright. Let's get started!"
Chang Long said and immediately headed off. The others dispersed to handle the various buildings and Crow Group members, determined to wipe them out as per the mission objective:
"Eliminate the Crow Group."
As Chang Long was about to use the various skills embedded in the Sovereign Sword, she noticed Garasu's familiar form attempting to break free from the tornado. Although the tornado had managed to trap him, the debris sucked into it collided with the feathers from Garasu's Ten Thousand Deaths skill, causing violent explosions. Flaming debris was hurled out, setting the area on fire and sending the Crow Group members and Sanada samurai fleeing for their lives.
"Why won't you just die!"
Chang Long muttered to herself before flying closer to the tornado. She activated the Flaming Burst skill from the Eye of Fire. The golden flames were quickly absorbed by the tornado, transforming it into a blazing tornado that incinerated everything it touched.
"Hehe, now that's more like it!"
Chang Long laughed in delight, then unleashed the Sea of Flames skill onto the empty ground below.
"Whoa, Master Chang! You're such a cheat!"
Peach Blossom exclaimed as she saw Chang Long starting to annihilate the Crow Group members. She began casting her own spells.
The guys had a harder time since they lacked powerful area attacks. Each had at least one skill capable of group attacks, so they could only pout and charged into the Crow Group AI, focusing on single-target strikes instead of wide-area devastation like Chang Long and Peach Blossom.
Kimhant ran back into the Crow Group territory, eyes wide at the destruction that resembled a blockbuster movie scene. He frantically snapped photos with his camera, capturing the intense battle.
"I'm glad I followed master, but how am I supposed to get through this mess?"
Kimhant scratched his head, realizing there was no safe path for him.
Garasu, caught in the tornado, was being roasted alive.. Everyone heard his final, agonized scream echoing loudly before he met a gruesome end. Terrified, they believed the tornado was controlled by malevolent spirits who aimed to crush the city and fled in sheer panic.
