Chapter 62: The Ugly Duckling Prince

"Why! When? Don't tell me you've all exchanged names and become friends with Chang Long already?"

Peach Blossom asked in shock.

"Yes, we've all exchanged names with Chang Long,"

Oliang nodded.

"Noooo! Why didn't anyone tell me? Why am I the only one who didn't exchange names with Chang Long? This isn't fair! Why is it like this!"

Peach Blossom shouted, realizing she was the only one who had not become friends with Chang Long.

"You can ask next time you see her,"

Siegfried tried to comfort his sister.

"How am I going to see her again? We're heading to another island!"

Peach Blossom wailed.

"You will see her! Chang Long is also going to Aseana. If our ship catches up to hers, we'll have a chance to meet,"

Siegfried explained, causing the remaining guys to huddle together and whisper.

"I thought he was taking time to get over Chang Long and Kitsune,"

Wet Trash Can whispered.

"Right! Turns out he's following her instead,"

Oliang agreed.

"What are you guys talking about?"

Draco, who was still in the dark, asked.

"Kyuu?"

Firetail tilted its head in curiosity, mimicking its master.

"Oh! So, it's like this...

Kimhant eyed Chang Long warily. The good news she spoke of sent chills down his spine, making him recall the recent beating he received, suspecting it might have been orchestrated by Chang Long.

"G... good news?"

Kimhant asked from behind the captain, too scared to face Chang Long directly.

"...From your tone, it sounds like you might already have an inkling. Come out from behind the captain, and I'll explain,"

Chang Long chuckled, noticing the captain's confused expression.

"Y... You have to promise you won't throw me overboard, Chang Long,"

Kimhant pleaded weakly. He knew he could not resist if she decided to do just that.

"What did I tell you to call me!"

Chang Long's tone immediately became stern when Kimhant failed to address her properly.

"M... Mas... Master!"

Kimhant stammered, sounding on the verge of tears, which made the captain feel a pang of sympathy.

"Good. Now come out from behind the captain,"

Chang Long ordered, sitting down on the deck.

Kimhant had no choice but to comply with Chang Long's orders. He knew that Chang Long was of higher level and had a three-tailed fox by her side, leaving him no options. As soon as he let go of the captain's arm, the captain walked away, leaving Kimhant to face Chang Long alone.

"I'm the one who orchestrated the mob that attacked you in front of the Journalists and Writers Association,"

Chang Long said with a cheerful expression. Kimhant, though he had suspected it, was still taken aback.

"Wh... Why did you have to go that far? It's a good thing they didn't kill me. I had to pay for damage I didn't cause until I was completely broke!"

Kimhant spoke softly, too scared to raise his voice against Chang Long despite his anger.

"First charge: you took my photo without permission. Second charge: you published my photo without my consent. Third charge: you held a crazy game without consulting me!"

Chang Long enumerated, causing Kimhant's face to pale.

"I... I don't deny it, but...

"Of course, you can't argue because you're completely in the wrong. You got off lightly, don't you think?"

Chang Long cut in quickly, leaving Kimhant gaping and speechless.

"Umm... I'll do everything Chang Long wants me to do..."

Kimhant said sadly, accepting his fate. He figured she would find some other terrifying way to get back at him.

"Seeing as you've repented, I'll let you follow me and take orders from me alone. Call me master. If you want to do anything, you must get my permission every time. Understand?"

Chang Long said happily.

"...Agreed!"

Kimhant replied, having no choice.

"We can see Aseana Island now. We should arrive tomorrow if no more beasts attack us like today,"

the first mate announced joyfully.

Finally, the Bloodied Angel docked at Suwarn City, the only system-operated port city on Aseana Island and the largest city on the island, twice the size of any other. Chang Long and Kimhant bid farewell to the captain and the Bloodied Angel's crew from the Maritime's Association before entering Suwarn City, which was beautifully crafted from the art style of Ayutthaya-era Thailand.

"Wow! This city is beautiful! It feels like walking through Ayutthaya, Master!"

Kimhant said, now comfortably calling Chang Long, Master.

"Hmm... um,"

Chang Long replied, also enchanted by Suwarn City's beauty. The streets were lined with Thai-style shops, and every NPC was dressed in traditional Thai clothing.

"Shall we find a place to stay, Master?"

Kimhant asked, excited at the prospect of staying in a Thai-style hotel in the game.

"We just woke up before getting off the boat and you want to sleep already? Let's explore the city first,"

Chang Long suggested. Kitsune barked in agreement. Thus, they began to explore the city with enthusiasm.

"Oh, a duck!"

Chang Long spotted a duck the size of an eight-year-old child, wearing a white and green scarf and a small gold crown, sitting sadly in a corner of the Player Services Building.

"What is it? Is it a beast, master?"

Kimhant quickly followed and took out his camera to take a picture.

When the flash from the camera went off, the duck looked at Chang Long and Kimhant with annoyance before getting up and walking away. Seeing that the system did not identify it as a beast and noting its peculiar behavior, Chang Long decided to follow it from a distance, intrigued.

"Why are you following me, quack?"

The duck could not stand the annoyance any longer, as Chang Long had been tailing it the whole time. Even though it tried to run away, its waddling was too slow, making it impossible to shake off Chang Long, Kimhant, and her pet.

"You can talk!"

Kimhant exclaimed in astonishment, snapping pictures rapidly with his camera.

"Hahaha! Why, quack!"

Chang Long laughed loudly upon hearing the duck's quack at the end of its sentence, which sounded exactly like a duck's call.

"What are you laughing at, quack? What's so funny, quack!"

The duck asked angrily and charged at Chang Long.

"Wait, wait, calm down! I'm sorry, okay!"

Chang Long shouted as she dodged the duck's beak and wings. Eventually, the duck sat down, panting heavily after chasing Chang Long around unsuccessfully due to her speed.

"So... why are you following me, quack?"

The duck asked, still panting.

"Oh, nothing really. I just found you interesting, so I followed,"

Chang Long replied nonchalantly, struggling to hold back her laughter.

"Hmph! I have nothing to say to someone who laughs at me, quack!"

The duck replied angrily, glaring at Chang Long with great displeasure.

"Still laughing, quack!"

"Hehe, sorry, I couldn't help it. So, you're not a beast, and you can talk?"

Chang Long asked curiously as Kimhant, out of breath, finally caught up.

"No, I used to be a handsome prince before I became like this, quack!"

The duck replied angrily, offended by Chang Long's accusation of it being a beast.

"That's an interesting story! May I have your permission to publish it in my newspaper?!"

Kimhant asked excitedly, his hands shaking as he held his notebook. Chang Long, seeing no harm, nodded towards the duck, signaling that he could, if the duck was up to it.

"Newspaper, quack?"

The duck's eyes sparkled with interest.

At the Suwarn City port, the boat Siegfried had rented docked right at noon. After saying their goodbyes to the members of the Maritime's Association, they set out to find a restaurant first. The beauty of Suwarn City left them all in awe. Even Wet Trash Can and Oliang, who had been here before, could not help but be stunned by its charm.

"Wow! It's so beautiful. I wonder what the restaurants are like,"

Peach Blossom said dreamily.

"How about we take a little tour of the city first, then find a restaurant?"

Siegfried suggested, and everyone agreed.

They walked around, looking at various shops, both player-owned and NPC-owned. The clothing stores sold traditional Thai outfits, but they were not popular among players as they were not practical for fighting. Peach Blossom's eyes shone with delight as she looked at the many gold jewelry pieces. She selected several items and happily handed over her credit card.

"I'm sorry, your card doesn't have enough funds to cover all this,"

the NPC shopkeeper returned the card, leaving Peach Blossom standing with her mouth agape, wondering when her card had hit its limit.

"How is that possible? There's plenty of money in my account (actually, my brother's). How can it not be enough?"

Peach Blossom complained in frustration.

"I understand, miss, but it seems your spending limit has been restricted,"

the NPC shopkeeper explained.

"Limited spending! Damn you, Siegfried..."

Peach Blossom muttered menacingly as she ran to Siegfried, who was shopping for jewelry at a player-run store nearby.

"Siegfried! My card has a spending limit. What does that mean?"

Peach Blossom shouted as soon as she got close to her brother.

"What? Oh, that's good. You'll learn to spend money more wisely,"

Siegfried replied nonchalantly, continuing to browse the jewelry.

"How can you say that? You told me I could use the money in your account!"

Peach Blossom complained.

"Sure, I never canceled the card you're using,"

he replied, handing his own card to the merchant after selecting his desired jewelry.

"What! You're crazy. Fine, I'll use the money in my own account!"

Peach Blossom snapped and stormed off.

Siegfried inspected a silver bracelet adorned with light pink diamonds, carefully chosen to gift to Chang Long if they met. He put the bracelet in his jacket pocket and started walking toward the pet supply store where Draco, Oliang, and Wet Trash Can were waiting. But something unusual caught his eye.

"A giant duck... and it's eating at a roadside restaurant (run by a player with a chef profession). That's hilarious!"

Siegfried noticed a large duck, about the size of an eight-year-old child, wearing a green-and-white scarf with a small gold crown on its head, sitting in a player-run restaurant.

What caught his eye even more was the three-tailed fox eating steak next to the duck's table. The person sitting with the duck was none other than the one he hoped to meet. There was also a young man beside her, eagerly jotting notes in his notebook.

"Chang Long!"

Siegfried stood there, unable to believe his eyes. He never thought he would run into her so easily, even though she was with a male stranger. Taking a deep breath, the fragrance from the Buppha Garland gave him the courage to approach her.

Siegfried walked into the roadside restaurant right away. The owner quickly greeted him, but Siegfried pointed to Chang Long's table, signaling that he knew the people there. The owner stepped back to his place.

"Hello, Chang Long,"

Siegfried greeted energetically. Chang Long looked up and could not help but smile at the coincidence.

"Siegfried, what brings you here?"

Chang Long smiled, patting the chair beside her for him to sit.

"Siegfried of the Pendragon Guild!"

Kimhant exclaimed, looking up from his notes.

"Hello,"

Siegfried said, eyeing Kimhant coldly.

"Hi, I'm Kimhant, Miss Chang Long's close aide,"

Kimhant introduced himself proudly.

"Close aide?"

Siegfried repeated, confused.

"Yes!"

"How long are you going to talk, quack!?"

The Ugly Duckling Prince, a name given by Chang Long, asked irritably, annoyed at being interrupted while telling his life story to Chang Long and Kimhant.

"Q... quack!"

Siegfried repeated, barely holding back his laughter.

"Hehehe, you think it's funny too, right?"

Chang Long chuckled softly, watching the young man struggle to contain his laughter.

"How long are you going to laugh, quack? I'm not a clown, you know, quack!"

The Ugly Duckling Prince protested, clearly displeased.

"Hmm? Anyone who hears you would burst out laughing. Look at the chef over there if you don't believe me,"

Chang Long said with a smile, pointing to the restaurant owner who was covering his mouth, shaking with laughter.

"Damn it. Just wait until I find that wicked witch, quack! I'll kill her and turn myself back into a handsome prince, quack!"

The Ugly Duckling Prince declared with determination.

"Wait, so you're not a beast?"

Siegfried asked again.

"No, I'm not, quack! I'm a prince, but this woman here calls me the Ugly Duckling Prince, quack!"

He said, ignoring Chang Long's continued laughter.

"By the way... do you eat human food or duckweed?"

Siegfried asked, curious. Kimhant lifted his notebook, ready to jot down notes.

"I can eat anything, quack! But I don't know if it's just me, quack, but I think duckweed tastes better than human food, quack. I want to return to my original form before I start liking it too much, quack,"

the Ugly Duckling Prince grumbled. Nowadays, he preferred foraging for duckweed in the canal more than eating human food.

"Sieg! There you are. Oh, Master Chaaang..."

Peach Blossom called out to her brother from outside the restaurant. Seeing Chang Long, her voice softened as she ran inside. Unfortunately, the seats next to Chang Long were already taken by the two men, so she reluctantly sat next to the Ugly Duckling Prince.

Soon after, Draco, Oliang, and Wet Trash Can joined them in the restaurant. The owner beamed, happy to have a full house, as it was a rare occurrence. Firetail, Draco's pet, was happily chewing on a large, flavored bone, keeping it from gnawing on the furniture.

Everyone stared at the Ugly Duckling Prince, but he was spellbound by Peach Blossom, affected by her Succubus outfit set.

"Alright, now that everyone is here, Ugly Duckling Prince, why don't you tell your story again? I'm sure everyone will be impressed!"

Chang Long suggested, not forgetting to praise the easily flattered Ugly Duckling Prince.

"Of course... quack!"

He replied with a resolute tone, his eyes shining. Despite his best efforts to hold it in, he could not stop himself from blurting out the quack at the end.
