When the black beam struck something, it caused a violent explosion, leaving a crater nearly ten meters deep. Trees and large rocks were shattered into tiny pieces, scattering everywhere and significantly reducing visibility. Oliang, Wet Trash Can, and Kitsune watched the Hoop Dragon King's attack in stunned silence.
"There's no way those two will survive!"
Oliang whispered, watching the faint figures of Chang Long and Siegfried fleeing in different directions.
"I will help my master!"
Kitsune declared, unable to bear it any longer, and ran toward the barely visible silhouette of Chang Long through the cloud of dust, debris, and shattered wood.
"Kitsune! Damn it, what should we do, Oliang?"
Wet Trash Can turned to his friend, unable to stop Kitsune in time.
"Follow him!"
Oliang decided and immediately ran after Kitsune. Wet Trash Can, shaking his head in exasperation, followed suit.
Kitsune, tasked with guarding Chang Long's egg, quickly made his way to his master, who was holding Siegfried's black egg with golden ribbons. Siegfried was still running frantically to avoid the Hoop Dragon King's attacks. Thanks to Kitsune's second evolution, his speed had doubled, allowing him to deftly dodge the flying debris. Soon, he was running alongside Chang Long.
"Master!"
Kitsune called out, startling Chang Long, who was focusing on looking for an escape route. She did not notice her pet popping up nearby.
"Kitsune, how did you get here!"
Chang Long exclaimed in surprise upon noticing him.
"What should we do, Master? If this continues, we won't last much longer!"
Kitsune asked anxiously.
"You're right... Take this!"
Chang Long said, handing Siegfried's egg to Kitsune before running off in another direction.
"Huh? Master!"
Kitsune called after Chang Long who had disappeared abruptly, shocked as he took the egg.
"Distract it, Kitsune!"
Chang Long's voice rang out from a distance, leaving Kitsune with little choice but to obey.
The young fox found a suitable spot to stash both eggs in the backpack Chang Long always made him carry in human form. He then climbed up a tall tree and started taunting the Hoop Dragon King, which was blasting the ground indiscriminately with its black beams.
Hearing Kitsune's challenge, the Hoop Dragon King turned its attention to him, giving the others a moment to catch their breath. Chang Long did not waste any time; she called Davy-chan to possess her body and stealthily approached the Hoop Dragon King.
Thanks to his agility and the cover provided by the trees below, Kitsune dodged the Hoop Dragon King's attacks effectively. The dragon, unable to clearly see Kitsune, ceased its assault abruptly, causing Chang Long, who had been following it quickly, to nearly crash into it.
Everyone watched the Hoop Dragon King's actions with keen interest. But when they saw it open its mouth wide with a growing black orb forming inside, their eyes widened in horror. They immediately ran to get as far away from its attack range as possible.
Taking advantage of the royal-class Hoop Dragon King's pause as it gathered energy to create the black energy orb, Chang Long quickly climbed onto its body. The dragon's scales were so slippery that she struggled to hold on, but fortunately, the tips of each scale curved upwards like thorns, allowing her to grip them and avoid slipping off.
Once she steadied herself, Chang Long swiftly tried to stab the Sovereign Sword into the dragon's body, hoping it retained its sharpness. However, she was disappointed as the blade kept glancing off the dragon's scales, rendering her attacks ineffective.
"What the heck!?"
Chang Long muttered in bewilderment, repeatedly slashing at the dragon's body, but to no avail.
Boom!
Crash
The explosion was deafening as the black energy orb, the size of a truck, struck the ground. The blast's destructive force devastated most of the sixth floor of the Royal Cliff. Siegfried, Kitsune, Oliang, and Wet Trash Can were all blown in different directions by the shockwave. Debris, now unrecognizable from its original form, filled the air, creating a thick dust cloud that obscured vision.
Chang Long, gripping the dragon's scales tightly, managed to avoid being thrown off by the explosion's force. Realizing that her attempts to attack the dragon's slippery and sturdy scales were futile, she decided to climb higher, aiming for its head.
"Oof... Is this the power of the supreme king of the Royal Cliff? If I hadn't been cautious, I would have been dead for sure,"
Siegfried muttered, sitting up and looking at the edge of the massive crater just centimeters from his feet.
"Damn, I was lucky..."
Wet Trash Can said, looking nervously at the precarious branch he had clung to, which jutted out from a crack in the cliff face.
"How am I supposed to get back up there though?!"
Wet Trash Can grumbled, looking up at the sixth floor's ground, almost two meters above him.
"Gee... Am I incredibly lucky or just cursed!"
Oliang wondered, sitting up and looking at the large tree that had caught his body after being thrown by the explosion's shockwave from Hoop Dragon King's power orb, which had knocked him unconscious for nearly five minutes.
Kitsune seemed as fortunate as his master. Despite being hit by the shockwave, he had been flung down to the fifth floor, where he ensured the safety of the backpack containing his master's eggs. Once he was sure they were secure, he quickly started climbing back up to the sixth floor.
Beep beep.
Climbing towards the dragon's head, Chang Long was startled by the sudden ringing of her wristwatch phone. She hurriedly answered it.
"Siegfried, what is it!?"
she whispered urgently, noticing the dragon seemed to have heard the beeping sound as it moved slightly, looking for the source.
"Sorry... But where are you, Chang Long?"
Siegfried asked, his voice full of concern.
"I'm on the body of the Hoop Dragon King. I'm about to launch a surprise attack on it. Talk to you later..."
Chang Long whispered before hanging up and resuming her climb. She instructed Davy-chan to leave her body to avoid any premature side effects.
Siegfried was stunned upon hearing that Chang Long was on the Hoop Dragon King's body. He immediately called Oliang and Wet Trash Can.
"What's up, Siegfried!"
Oliang answered almost instantly.
"Where are you, Oliang!" Siegfried asked seriously.
"At the northern edge, I think,"
Oliang replied, looking around and spotting the starting town in the distance.
"Let's meet near the Hoop Dragon King. We need to take it down before it wreaks havoc in the town. Come quickly, I'll call Can next,"
Siegfried said, then hung up immediately. Oliang shook his head and reluctantly headed back towards the center of the sixth floor of the Royal Cliff.
"Pant... Hey... huff..."
Wet Trash Can answered, his voice labored from just climbing back onto solid ground.
"What's wrong with you, Can? Are you safe?"
Siegfried asked, concerned by Can's panting.
"...I'm fine... pant... don't worry... you?"
Wet Trash Can replied.
"Yeah... I'm okay. Where are you?"
"I think I'm in the south, but I'm not sure. It's all trees down here!"
Wet Trash Can tried to find a landmark to orient himself.
"I told Oliang to meet near the Hoop Dragon King. Hurry up, we need to take it down before it wreaks havoc in the town,"
Siegfried said and hung up immediately. As he started to move, he noticed the Hoop Snake lying motionless under a rock with blood splattered around it. He paused for a moment to pay his respects before heading towards the center of the sixth floor.
Beasts of all kinds, terrified by the chaos, were swarming down from the Royal Cliff. Even the beast kings were taking refuge in the pine forest and the Southern Sea Abyss, making nests in droves. New players, who usually hunted in the pine forest, were fleeing in panic, while high-level players searching for the Pirate King's hidden tomb were caught in battles between the native and invading beasts. The Southern Sea Abyss had turned into a fierce battlefield.
"Deputy Leader, our scouts at the Southern Sea Abyss report that the migrating beasts from the Royal Cliff are fighting the local beasts for housing territory. It's intense out there!"
A guild officer reported to Draco, who was discussing the cause of the beast migration from the Royal Cliff.
"What! Are our people safe?"
Draco asked, shocked.
"They're safe, but everyone in the Southern Sea Abyss is under attack. Most have retreated to the beach," the guild officer reported.
"Deputy Leader, we have reports that new players are fleeing the pine forest. The beasts from the Royal Cliff have spread throughout the forest, and even the local low-level beasts are running away!"
A beautiful worried guild member reported to Draco and Rafael.
"What is going on? Should we call Aden and see if he knows?"
Draco suggested Rafael. When Rafael nodded in agreement, Draco called Aden.
Beep beep. Beep beep.
"Hi, Draco,"
Aden greeted as he answered.
"Hey, Aden. Do you know what's happening on the Royal Cliff? Why are all the beasts migrating, even the kings?"
Draco asked immediately.
"I don't know. I haven't gone anywhere, but I did hear a huge roar. It must be a big beast from the sound of it!" Aden replied.
"Can you go up and check it out?"
Draco requested.
"Sure, I'll go check it out,"
Aden replied, jumping down from the high branch.
"Be careful and just observe. Don't take unnecessary risks since you don't have backup!"
Draco warned with concern.
"Don't worry, I've got this. I'll call you once I find something,"
Aden said before hanging up and sprinting off at high speed, utilizing his ninja class's swift movement skill, which required a level above forty to unlock.
Eventually, Siegfried, Wet Trash Can, and Oliang regrouped under the body of the Hoop Dragon King. They planned to climb the dragon's body to assist Chang Long in targeting its weak point, its eyes.
"It seems to be hesitating..."
Oliang observed quietly.
"Siegfried, Oliang, and I will climb up to assist Chang Long,"
Siegfried explained the plan to his two friends. Oliang nodded in agreement.
"What about me?"
Wet Trash Can asked, as Siegfried had not assigned him a task yet.
"You stay down here and distract it. It wouldn't be good if it realized someone is climbing up its body,"
Siegfried explained.
"Why me? Why not Oliang? He's much faster than I am!"
Wet Trash Can protested. Though not as slow as a knight in full armor, a warrior's speed was still no match for that of a martial artist.
"I'm counting on Oliang's speed to quickly reach Chang Long and assist her. If the plan goes smoothly, you won't need to do much—just keep it busy,"
Siegfried explained in a low voice.
"Stop asking questions. Let's move before it takes off,"
Oliang urged. Wet Trash Can nodded, and they all went off to carry out their assigned tasks.
Meanwhile, Kitsune, returning to Chang Long, faced trouble with Chang Long's egg. It began glowing brightly and making a soft humming sound before floating out of the backpack. Kitsune barely managed to grab it in time.
"Where do you think you're going, egg? Master is that way!"
Kitsune shouted, trying to hold onto the egg, which slipped from his sweaty hands and floated into a nearby bush.
Kitsune chased after it, worried, and was stunned to find a nest of abandoned beast eggs behind the bush. Chang Long's egg floated to the center and emitted light that enveloped all the abandoned eggs. Kitsune watched in astonishment.
"What are you doing? Master is in danger, and you have time to snack on beast eggs?"
Kitsune complained, watching as beast eggs, enveloped in the light from the egg turned to dust under the influence of Chang Long's egg.
Ignoring Kitsune's complaints, the egg continued to absorb life force from the abandoned beast eggs. The process was slow, so Kitsune decided to leave it there and return to pick it up after it finished eating. He felt it was more important to check on Chang Long. With that, he left the glowing egg and hurried back to his master.
