Claack!
The father hawk screeched in agony. When Chang Long opened her eyes, she was shocked to the core. The father hawk had thrown himself in the way of the windborne viper beast king's attack, taking a vicious bite to his right wing that gushed blood profusely, poisoned by the beast's fangs.
The father hawk looked at Chang Long with tender eyes, unbelievably considering her as his own and willing to risk his life to protect her. His body plummeted from the sky, followed by his offspring, all urging Chang Long to follow.
"Clack clack (Go, Mama will handle it,)"
The mother hawk cried out to Chang Long, but she was too stunned to move. It was not the sudden assault by the windborne viper beast king that stunned her, but the father hawk's selfless intervention.
As the windborne viper beast opened its mouth prepared to strike again, mistaking its prey's shock as fear, the mother hawk intervened, pecking ferociously at the beast's head with her sharp beak, forcing it to retreat.
Claack!!
The mother hawk, trying to chase Chang Long away, shrieked in surprise as the windborne viper beast swiftly coiled around her amidst a moment of distraction. Chang Long, jolted, watched the mother hawk being constricted in mid-air, eyes widening in shock.
As the viper gleefully prepared to sink its fangs into the mother hawk, a chilling aura enveloped it, feeling as if a sharp blade sliced through its wings was making it jolt.
The hawk mother, despite being ensnared by the windborne viper beast king, was equally startled when she saw a cold, handsome, young man in a tattered black cloak appeared behind her precious baby, wielding a sharp scythe.
At level 100, thanks to being possessed by Davy-chan, Chang Long managed to sever the airborne viper beast king's wing effortlessly, causing it to wail in agony. The blood gushed from the wound, pouring down like rain, it released the mother hawk instantly.
The sky hawk beast king, now free, stopped a short distance away, looking at Chang Long as if she were a stranger. Chang Long, indifferent to the mother hawk's gaze, lunged at the fallen windborne viper beast king. Its resounding fall had destroyed the forest of trees, creating a big opening.
Other beasts had fled the area since they heard the sky hawk beast king's (father hawk) screech and eluded the fight. Mother hawk flew toward the fallen father bird, not too far away, giving no more heed to Chang Long.
Chang Long dived down at the airborne viper beast king with an incredible speed, plunging Sovereign Sword deep into its body. The scythe of the reaper further inflicted severe wounds near Chang Long's strike.
Hiss!!
The windborne viper beast king howled in pain, raising its head to strike at Chang Long, who was standing on its body. Chang Long quickly leapt aside and ascended into the air, causing the beast to impale itself, howling again in the forest.
Kitsune, Oliang, and Wet Trash Can were startled by the ferocious howls echoing through the forest. On their way, they encountered fleeing beasts, barely finding refuge in time, speculating that the chaos was stirred by the clash between beast kings.
"Are you sure Chang Long is that way, Kitsune...?"
Oliang asked, his voice tinged with worry, for the direction they were heading had the sounds of a battle between beast kings.
"Yes. Master is definitely in that direction,"
Kitsune confidently affirmed, making the two young men visibly anxious.
Leading the way, Kitsune called back to the hesitant duo, prompting them to muster their courage and continue forward, despite their pounding hearts akin to war drums.
"What could Chang Long possibly be doing there? She should've noticed such a loud clash between beast kings,"
Wet Trash Can whispered to Oliang.
"Who knows? Maybe the beast king that captured Chang Long ended up fighting another one for her,"
Oliang speculated.
"Are you nuts? Chang Long was captured yesterday!"
Wet Trash Can exclaimed.
"But she's still alive, isn't she? The evidence is right there, the thing Kitsune is carrying!"
Oliang countered.
"Right, maybe Chang Long is fighting right now,"
Wet Trash Can considered, recalling times when he had seen Chang Long take on beast king.
"Exactly, so we need to hurry and see for ourselves,"
Oliang said, energized by the prospect of witnessing Chang Long in serious action.
"Kitsune, let's hurry,"
Wet Trash Can urged, eager to witness Chang Long's battle.
"Understood!"
Kitsune quickened his stride, pleased that the duo admired his master. Though he was not standing close, Kitsune's sharp hearing caught every word, as if they were conversing right by his ear.
The windborne viper beast king roared in pain as its fangs embedded into its own body. It glared at Chang Long with vengeance and lunged at her, who was strategically flying just above its head. As the beast attacked, Chang Long, prepared, dove towards its gaping mouth in response.
Shunk!
The Sovereign Sword pierced through the beast king's head, embedding deeply. While the creature lay motionless, Chang Long knew it was not yet dead. She forcefully yanked the sword out, using her foot to kick the beast's head, causing it to plummet to the ground with a resounding thud.
The hawk family cried out in shock as the airborne viper beast king fell near them. Chang Long did not hesitate, striking rapidly at the beast's head, relentless in her assault.
With every stab from Chang Long, the reaper behind her followed with a scythe strike, quickly maiming the beast's head. Blood splattered everywhere, covering Chang Long in the beast's vital fluids. The beast's life force rapidly drained, and it finally succumbed to death.
The mournful cries of the sky hawk beast king made Chang Long look their way, fearing they would attack. Yet, it turned out she was grieving her dying mate. Chang Long rushed to assist the father hawk, only to be repelled by the family.
The father hawk's life was fading, and all Chang Long could only watch, even though he had risked his life to save hers from the airborne viper beast king. Retreating, she found various items dropped by the beast, including a jar containing an emerald-green antidote crystal.
With a newfound hope, Chang Long attempted to administer the antidote to the father hawk but was forcefully struck away by the mother hawk. Despite trying to explain that she had the antidote, her avian communication failed, as the mother hawk firmly kept her at bay.
Left with no choice, Chang Long took a chance, darting swiftly to deposit the antidote crystal into the father hawk's beak. She utilized her full capabilities, fluttering her wings rapidly while using both her swift movement skill and invoking her Mystic Gust skill, to bypass the mother hawk and administer the antidote successfully.
Boom!
When the mother hawk saw Chang Long approaching her mate, she immediately struck with her wings, sending her flying several meters away. She was about to attack again when the father hawk's loud cry grabbed her attention, sparing Chang Long a narrow escape.
The father hawk's cry was loud and agonized, coughing up black blood before becoming still. The mother hawk rushed to check on him, seething with anger at Chang Long, believing she was responsible for her mate's peril. As Chang Long struggled to stand, weakened by letting Davy-chan possess her for too long without black rose tea, she could barely move.
Clack!!
The father hawk's thunderous cry made the mother hawk halt her attack and turn her attention to him. To her astonishment, the father hawk began to recover after expelling the poison, his condition visibly improving. He then approached Chang Long, who could barely stand, surrounded by the watchful eyes of its family.
"Clack... (Thank you)"
the father hawk conveyed with a complex look. Chang Long weakly smiled back, offering no verbal response. After a prolonged gaze, the father hawk acknowledged,
"Clack clack clack (As I thought, you're not my offspring, little human.)"
Chang Long's eyes widened in shock, fearing retribution.
"Kwak Kwak Kwak (Under normal circumstances, I would slay you. However, you saved my life. Tell me, what do you desire in return?)"
Chang Long was taken aback by the father hawk's offer. Doubting if he would really give her what she wanted.
Chang Long pointed her finger to the eye of element on the hawk's forehead, a request so unusual that he looked at her with bewilderment. Other players would have asked for valuable weapons or armor, not this seemingly insignificant gem on his forehead.
"If... it's not possible, that's okay..."
She sensed the hawk's hesitation, thinking it was because he could not or should not give up the eye. She assumed that the only way to obtain the eye was by slaying the beast that owned it..
"Clack clack clack (You peculiar human, instead of requesting something of greater value, you desire the eye on my forehead? What a strange human you are.)"
The hawk appeared amused, fluttering his wings contentedly.
Approaching Chang Long with a piercing gaze, the father hawk lowered his head to her level. His big yellow eyes, the size of a football, froze Chang Long, perplexed by his action. Were beasts not supposed to be very protective of their eyes of element? Losing it should mean their own demise. Yet, here he was, readily exposing his eye of element to Chang Long.
Chang Long gently reached out to touch the eye at the center of the father hawk's forehead, fearing he would attack her if she had tried use any method to take the eye out violently (like using her sword to dig it out.) The moment her hand made contact, the eye illuminated brightly, forcing her and the hawk family to squint.
"Player Chang Long has received the Eye of the Wind from the Sky Hawk Beast King in a gentle manner, receiving the secret skill: Avian Alliance..."
announced the system. Astonished, Chang Long opened her eyes to see the luminous Eye of the Wind in her hand and looked incredulously at the father hawk.
The father hawk gave her a satisfied look before soaring into the sky, signaling his family to follow. The younger hawks embraced Chang Long in a farewell gesture, with the mother hawk not objecting this time. After giving Chang Long one last look, they flew off after the father hawk.
"Clack clack clack (Wherever you are, you will always be my baby. Thank you for saving my mate)"
The mother hawk screeched, circling above Chang Long before departing.
"Thank you..."
Chang Long murmured, gazing down at the Eye of the Wind in her grasp, marveling at the unexpected way she had gained it, and the secret skill.
'Missy, let's attach the Eye to the sword before you broke it again,' suggested Davy-chan, who was always by her side. Acknowledging this, Chang Long nodded but then suddenly collapsed unconscious, still clutching the Eye of Wind in her hand.
About ten minutes after Chang Long fainted, Kitsune, Oliang, and Wet Trash Can arrived, puzzled to find Chang Long sitting on a rock under a tree, looking different than they remembered. This person was taller, thicker, and seemingly more masculine. Approaching, they were shocked that this person stood up and glared at them..
"Oh, little fox?"
the young man remarked, less worried upon seeing Kitsune, who recognized the person and smiled back. The other two were speechless, witnessing the exceptionally ghostly pale individual who wore an outfit resembling Chang Long's in every aspect, he was exceedingly ghostly pale almost translucent.
"Where is master?"
Kitsune asked, noticing Chang Long's absence.
"She's lying over there, passed out. Give her the black rose tea,"
Davy-chan muttered, pointing to where Chang Long lay unconscious.
"Master!"
Kitsune exclaimed, concerned, and hurried to his master.
Oliang and Wet Trash Can followed Kitsune. They were curious, but decided to remain silent because the player, seemingly of higher level than them, was exuding a chilling aura.
Kitsune carefully lifted Chang Long's head and poured the black rose tea into her mouth, and clumsily failed, spilling the tea that should have gone into her mouth. With no other choice, Kitsune took a sip from the water bottle and fed Chang Long mouth-to-mouth, leaving the two men agape at the unexpected intimate scene.
