Chapter 14: Get Me Out of Here Now!!

The black light swirling around Chang Long made her feel suffocated and almost breathless. She tried to move but could not, enduring nearly ten minutes of torment. As the black light gradually faded, Kitsune and Davy Jones could clearly see Chang Long's transformation.

"Player Chang Long has received the God of Death's outfit set. Once worn, it cannot be replaced with another outfit for the rest of the player's life. The God of Death outfit set cannot be sold, exchanged, or discarded. It can also repair itself."

"Player Chang Long has received the title of Reaper, gaining Reaper Soul Harvest skill, Reaper Possession skill, and Reaper's Aura skill (activated automatically when the player is extremely angry, cannot be summoned at will). The title of Reaper is irrevocable."

"Player Chang Long has received the shaman profession, gaining Spirit Net skill, Spirit Summoning skill, and Spirit Possession skill. Player Chang Long has completed the secret quest 'Path to the King,' receiving all the treasures in the tomb worth 50 billion coins."

The system announced immediately after the black light completely vanished.

Chang Long was dressed identically to the Pirate King Davy Jones, including her hairstyle and the black eyeliner contrasting her pale skin, which was a result of her Reaper title. She was astounded by the value of the treasure she received. Thinking to herself how much she would regret it if she had died before reaching this point.

"My long wait has finally come to an end. Missy, you must find the elemental eyes to complete the set and aim for the path of the king in place of me, who could not reach it... Remember, you are the successor of Davy Jones, the Great Pirate King. Do not tarnish my name!"

Davy Jones's form gradually became translucent as he spoke, his face wearing a gentle smile. He tenderly stroked Chang Long's head, then his form dissipated completely along with his smile.

"May you find peace..."

Chang Long whispered softly.

Craaaccckkk

As the sound echoed and the ground trembled behind the throne, Chang Long and Kitsune investigated the source. They discovered a dark passageway on the two-meter-high stone altar beneath the throne, lit only by dim candlelight on the floor that extended into the darkness.

"Let's go, Kitsune,"

Chang Long said, smiling at her loyal pet in human form. They could finally leave this dreadful cave.

"Yes, Master."

Kitsune happily agreed. They headed towards the hidden path without hesitation, determined to overcome any obstacles.

"Sky, wind, and sun, wait for me! Chang Long is coming out now!"

Chang Long cheered herself up, boosting Kitsune's spirits as well.

Ackk!!

"Huh... what was that 'ack' sound? And what's this squishy thing under my foot?"

Chang Long bent down to investigate the source of the sound that came from beneath her foot, curious. The candlelight revealed something on the ground, and what she saw made her eyes widen and her mouth drop open in shock.

"AAHHHHHHHHH!!"

"AAHHHHHHHHH!!"

Chang Long nearly screamed her lungs out, immediately jumping onto Kitsune's back when she realized that the creature under her foot was her most feared and detested being.

"W...what's wrong, master?!"

Kitsune asked in panic, having screamed aloud as well when Chang Long started her loud outcry.

"Go... Go... Go... Get me out of here NOW!"

Chang Long commanded without even daring to open her eyes.

Kitsune was confused by his master's behavior but obediently complied. He looked down at the floor to see low-level beasts hopping around, and looked back up at his master, who had jumped onto his back, clinging tightly, and refusing to open her eyes.

"Master... are you... afraid of these beasts?"

Kitsune cautiously asked as he continued walking.

"I hate and fear them so much. Just kill me now. Hurry up, can't you walk any faster? I can't take this anymore!" Chang Long replied, her voice full of disgust and fear. Just the sound of the beasts' croaking in harmony made her skin crawl.

"Yes, Master!"

Kitsune immediately started running, wondering why his master was so afraid of such low-level cave toads. However, he kept his curiosity to himself, afraid of angering Chang Long.

The croaking sound echoed through the corridor as they made their way forward. Chang Long urged Kitsune to move faster, too afraid to do anything else. After an hour of nerve-wracking horror, Kitsune announced that he saw the exit. Chang Long, relieved, opened her eyes to see the exit about five hundred meters away, with hardly any cave toads in sight. She decided to use her mystic gust skill to dash towards the exit immediately.

"See you outside, Kitsune!"

Chang Long cheerfully shouted to her pet as she launched herself forward, not realizing the path they had taken was steep as if climbing a hill. When she finally made it outside the cave, she was shocked to find herself at the edge of a cliff, causing her mystic gust skill to deactivate, and she fell towards the ground ten meters below.

"What sin did I commit... AAHHHH!"

Chang Long lamented her misfortune as she screamed aloud while her body uncontrollably plummeted towards the ground.

"What's that sound, Oliang?"

Lidded Wet Trash Can was beating a beast as he turned to ask his friend, who was fighting another beast not far away.

"Sounds like someone screaming,"

Oliang replied with a frown, as he looked around but saw no one.

"The sound is getting louder, don't you think?"

Wet Trash Can was also searching for the source of the sound, but he found nothing unusual.

"I think it's coming from above,"

Oliang who had slightly better hearing, said.

"Above? HEY!!"

As the two friends looked up following Oliang's hypothesis, they saw a person falling towards them at high speed.

THUDDD!!

The two young men realized too late what had happened; their bodies were directly hit by the newcomer who fell from above, causing dust to scatter everywhere. Additionally, a faint crunching sound could be heard.

"Master! Are you alright?!"

Kitsune leapt agilely among the rocks, rushing to Chang Long's side with concern.

"No... not much harm done,"

Chang Long replied, struggling to stand with minor bruises and bleeding from the corner of her mouth. Overall, she looked surprisingly well.

"Unbelievable! Falling ten meters and only suffering minor bruises. Master, you are truly remarkable,"

Kitsune immediately checked her for injuries upon reaching her.

"Huh? It's not that I'm remarkable. Somebody caught me as I fell,"

Chang Long responded, wiping the blood from the corner of her mouth.

"H... Heeeeeeelp"

A groan of agony came from the spot where Chang Long had fallen. The duo turned to see two male players, severely injured, lying in pain.

Chang Long and Kitsune tenderly administered first aid, grateful to those who had cushioned her fall and saved her life. In no time, Wet Trash Can and Oliang, under the novice care of the two, were transformed into mummy due to Chang Long and Kitsune's excellent bandaging and splinting skills.

"Player Chang Long has received Basic First Aid Skill Level 3," the system notification sounded in Chang Long's head immediately after she finished bandaging the two men into mummies.

"Getting skills just like that? Nice,"

Chang Long said cheerfully, oblivious to the resentful glances from the two men who were staring at her.

"Master, this area isn't safe for setting up camp. There are beasts roaming around. Let's find a new spot,"

Kitsune warned.

"Right... lead the way Kitsune,"

Chang Long looked around cautiously, then instructed her loyal pet.

"Yes, master."

"Hold on, what about our benefactors? How are we going to bring them along... Kitsune, come here,"

Chang Long paused upon noticing the two benefactors lying helplessly, unable to move due to being heavily bandaged into mummies and called Kitsune back.

"What's the matter, master?"

Kitsune walked back to her.

"Help me carry one of our benefactors," Chang Long suggested.

"How should we carry them, master? Should we hold them?"

"No, no, that won't do. If we're carrying them and get attacked by beasts, we won't be able to defend ourselves!"

"Then how should we carry them, master?"

"Like this!"

Chang Long replied, showing Kitsune how.

"Oh, I see. If we're attacked, it'll be easier to fight back this way. You're a genius, master!"

Kitsune agreed with his master's method, though the two benefactors did not seem to agree. However, they could not do anything but groan silently.

Eventually, Chang Long and Kitsune dragged the leg of their benefactors, searching for a safe place to rest, with ease. The two young men could do nothing but cry bitterly, lamenting their pathetic state quietly.

Many players crowded at the notice board in the heart of every city in the game, all of them staring in astonishment, scratching their eyes to make sure they were not seeing things. People formed in groups to discuss seriously, mostly guild members who had been eyeing the treasure and outfit set from the Pirate King's Tomb. Other players called their friends who were out of the city to inform them of the news, leading to an influx of players coming into the city.

"One of 7 Secret Pirate King's Tombs has been discovered," was what was announced on the game's notice board, frustrating many players as the system did not reveal who discovered it or where. Major guilds were agitated and quickly gathered their members to investigate.

"Quickly, let's inform the deputy guild leader!"

One player, wearing a roaring silver dragon brooch, urged his guild mate to stand next to him.

"Yes, I agree. This is a big deal,"

his guild mate replied.

The young man immediately used his wristwatch to call his deputy guild leader, quickly informing him about the announcement in the town.

"Is that true?"

Rafael asked in surprise.

"Yes, sir! If you don't believe me, check the public communication channel. Everyone is discussing it, and it has become a trending topic," the young man replied.

"Thanks. I'll inform the guild leader myself. You guys keep investigating in the town,"

Rafael instructed and hung up to check the public communication channel, now buzzing with player comments on the tomb's location, the value of the treasure inside, and the increasingly legendary Pirate King costume set.

"What's wrong Rafael?"

Draco asked, noticing his friend's expression.

"Just check the public communication channel news yourself!"

Rafael, too lazy to explain, suggested Draco look at the community channel, while he immediately called their guild leader, Siegfried.

"What's up, Rafael!"

Siegfried answered promptly.

"Sieg, have you checked the public communication channel news?"

Rafael asked.

"No, I've been busy helping Peach Blossom level up. She's at level 53 now... What's on the public channel?"

"Everyone's talking about the Pirate King's Tomb right now."

"The Pirate King's Tomb? Why? Has someone found the map?"

Siegfried guessed, surprised that anyone could have accessed the tomb so quickly.

"Your guess is pretty close, my friend. But the truth is, someone has already found the Pirate King's Tomb. This news is being announced on the notice boards in the center of every city now. I think it's time we have a meeting. What do you say?"

Raphael said with a tone of urgency. Among the major guilds aiming for the treasure and Pirate King outfit set, there were two nefarious guilds fighting to be the top guild. These guilds were collecting funds and top-tier weapons for war. If one of these two guilds found the Pirate King's Tomb, it would certainly be a big deal.

"Really? Do you know who found it!?"

Siegfried asked, alarmed.

"No clue. The announcement in the city only mentioned that 'One of the seven Pirate King's Tombs has been discovered.' That's all, no further details."

"...Let's meet up at the same spot. I'll bring Peach Blossom. We'll return to the guild and don't forget to summon all guild members on the starting island to the guild as well,"

Siegfried commanded.

"Got it. See you."

"See you."

….

In a secluded haven, Chang Long, Kitsune, and their benefactors found a safe spot to set up camp. Together, they managed to pitch the only tent they had and brought the benefactors inside to rest by dragging, due to their significant weight. (They were both bound in bandages and plaster to the point of resembling mummies. Adding to the weight.)

Once the camp was established, Chang Long spread out a cloth and laid down to breathe in the fresh air, enjoying the cool breeze under the afternoon sky dotted with large, drifting clouds. Kitsune, following his master's lead, lay down beside her and ask, "

Master, I feel like my power has increased. Maybe I'll grow another tail, what do you think?"

Kitsune had never had the chance to inquire about this, given the constant threats they faced in the Pirate King's Tomb.

"Hmm, let me check,"

Chang Long replied, lifting her wristwatch to check both their statuses.

"True enough! You've grown another tail, Kitsune. Hey! My Sovereign Sword has also advanced to level 1, with an attack power of 110. Let's test it out, Kitsune!"

Chang Long exclaimed, thrilled. Finally, her weapon had evolved, increasing its attack power significantly after enduring a meager 1 – 1 attack power for so long.

"Yes, Master. let's go!!"

Kitsune, sharing his master's joy, eagerly agreed.

"Hold on, let me check the status of this new outfit first,"

Chang Long said, noticing changes in her equipment slots. So, she took a closer look.

"The God of Death outfit set (shirt, leather belt, long trousers, boots) offers 8,000/400,000 defense. Once worn, it cannot be replaced or removed for life... The title of Reaper causes the skin to turn pale white and the eyes rimmed to turn black, granting skills such as Reaper soul harvest, Reaper Possession, and the Reaper's Aura (activated automatically when the player was extremely angry, cannot be summoned at will). The title can never be changed for life..."
