Following Chang Long's advice, Hero aimed his rifle at the eye of the Hookjaw Turtle Beast in front of her. As soon as he got a clear shot, he fired, hitting its left eye with precision. Chang Long quickly leapt onto its shell, just like the other players from the Maritime Association, knowing that close combat was the only way to effectively attack.
Chang Long tried to get close to its neck to strike its eye again. However, she did not anticipate that a wounded Hookjaw Turtle Beast had a high chance of going berserk. The beast she was on seemed to have entered a frenzy.
"Whoa!"
Chang Long cried out in shock as the Hookjaw Turtle bellowed loudly, its eyes turning blood-red. It swam erratically away from the ship.
"Chang Long!"
Everyone shouted her name, but they could not follow her as they were caught up in their own battles. Chang Long signaled them not to worry, but before she could do much, the frenzied turtle dived underwater.
"Spread wings!"
Chang Long commanded. Her large gray wings unfurled quickly, preventing her from sinking into the water. She skimmed the water's surface, watching where the turtle was diving. It was heading straight for the largest turtle. Soon, it resurfaced with a massive splash.
Screeech!
A high-pitched shriek pierced the air, hurting everyone's ears. Football-sized eyes glared at Chang Long. It screeched again and charged at her, followed by a horde of its smaller kin. The people still on the turtles' shells were startled as the creatures sped away from the ship. Many decided to jump into the water, thinking the turtles would leave them alone.
Chang Long soon found herself surrounded by the fifty-meter Hookjaw Turtle Beast and its dozen followers. Siegfried and the others still clung to the turtles' shells, while Peach Blossom, who used long-range spells, stayed on a small boat, that was keeping a safe distance.
The largest Hookjaw Turtle Beast attacked first, thrusting its sharp hook-like beak at Chang Long, who was hovering just above the water. Its minions followed suit. Chang Long's heart skipped a beat as she flapped her wings vigorously, ascending just in time.
Boom!
Screech!
Their heads collided, causing a deafening crash. Several smaller turtles' heads were severely injured by the hook of the large beast. Chang Long grinned as she saw them attacking each other.
"Hmph!"
She sneered.
The largest turtle was a beast king and was furious it could not reach Chang Long. It glared at her with hatred before opening its mouth to spray water at her. Careless, the powerful jet hit her squarely, sending her flying several meters away into the sea.
The impact left her immobile, blood trickling from her mouth and nose. She sank slowly into the water. Chang Long's friends tried to distract the Hookjaw Turtle Beast King to prevent it from finishing her off.
Jane and Hero targeted the eyes of as many Hookjaw Turtle Beasts as they could, causing them to go berserk and fight each other due to their blindness. Siegfried and the others had to jump into the water to escape. The Hookjaw Turtle Beast, however, remained focused on finding Chang Long.
Splash!
A tremendous splash drew everyone's attention. Even the frenzied Hookjaw Turtle Beasts froze, their bodies stiffening as an icy aura pierced their flesh. Hovering above the water was Chang Long, radiating intense anger. A dark aura emanated from her, forming the shape of a handsome reaper with cold gray eyes.
Without a word, she charged at the Hookjaw Turtle Beast King. Using her Mystic Gust skill, she stood mid-air and moved with increased speed. Chang Long climbed to its head and struck its eye with the Sovereign Sword.
Screech!
Blood gushed from its eye as it thrashed its head, trying to shake Chang Long off. But her grip was firmer, holding onto its overlapping scales.
"Hisa-chan, Spirit Possession!"
Chang Long called out. Hisa-chan, the spirit that followed her everywhere, just like Davy-chan, immediately possessed her. Chang Long's appearance transformed into that of a handsome young samurai. She swiftly climbed to the other side of the turtle's head to target its other eye.
"Constant Blade!"
Chang Long activated Hisa-chan's skill, making her sword strike with blinding speed, appearing as a mere flash of white light. The Hookjaw Turtle Beast King's eye was slashed out of its socket, along with some surrounding flesh.
"Incredible. What kind of skill is that? I could barely see it!"
Draco exclaimed, witnessing Chang Long's Constant Blade skill enhanced by Hisa-chan.
"That's a secret skill of the Samurai class, if I remember correctly,"
Aden remarked, clearly impressed by Chang Long's prowess.
"How do you know that!"
Oliang asked, disappointed that such a powerful skill was class-specific.
"I guessed. Hisa-chan is a samurai, after all,"
Aden replied, causing those listening to almost fall over in disbelief.
"Shaman profession is amazing. By finding spirits of different professions, you can use their skills too,"
Lidded Wet Trash Can said, growing more interested in the shaman profession.
"It's probably not easy. Chang Long has had the profession for a while and only has two spirits,"
Valentine noted.
"Exactly. Finding a compatible spirit isn't easy. Just like pets have different personalities, so do spirits. Hisa-chan and Davy-chan don't even have the same temperament!"
Draco agreed.
"Woah, watch out!"
Peach Blossom screamed a warning. A frenzied Hookjaw Turtle Beast was teetering, about to crash down on their small boat.
Boom!
The boat was split in half by the beast's massive head, but everyone managed to jump into the water in time, avoiding injury. They now floated helplessly, with the large ship a considerable distance away. Without a boat, they could not do anything else but retreat to the Bloodied Angel.
Chang Long grinned, pleased to see that the Sovereign Sword could cut through the tough scales of the Hookjaw Turtle Beast King. She moved to its shell and tried stabbing down, but the sword bounced off, leaving only a small crack.
"Tch!"
Chang Long grunted in frustration. She moved to the beast's neck, unprotected by its shell, and stabbed with all her strength.
Screech!
The Hookjaw Turtle Beast King howled in pain as the Sovereign Sword easily sunk deep into its neck. It thrashed violently, trying to dive underwater to escape, along with its minions. But there was no way Chang Long would let her attacker go so easily.
Slash, slash, slash, slash!
Even as the beast submerged halfway, Chang Long continued her relentless assault, stabbing its massive neck repeatedly. The water around them turned crimson with blood.
"I won't let you escape easily, you damned turtle. The price for making this Chang Long bleed is your life. Constant Blade!"
Chang Long spoke with a fierce tone before activating Hisa-chan's secret skill once more, depleting her mana bar completely.
Slash!
Boommm!
The Sovereign Sword slashed in a beautiful arc, appearing as a mere flash of light. It sliced through the neck of the Hookjaw Turtle Beast King effortlessly, like a knife through butter. The colossal head of the beast fell into the water in a thunderous crash, sending blood-red seawater splashing over six meters into the air. The spectators watching her battle were in awe.
"Player Chang Long has slain level 79 Hookjaw Turtle Beast King. Receiving 106,850 experience points."
"Player Chang Long has fulfilled the basic requirements for the beginner profession. Swift Movement skill advanced to level 36. Climbing skill advanced to level 16. Evasion skill advanced to level 41. Swordsmanship advanced to level 30. Endurance skills advanced to level 18. Mystic Gust skill advanced to level 6. Sovereign Sword advanced to level 3..."
"Huff... S-summon Hisa-chan."
Chang Long panted, collapsing with the Sovereign Sword supporting her. Luckily, the rest of the beast's body did not sink, or she would have had no strength to swim. Sadly, many valuable items and money dropped from the Hookjaw Turtle Beast King sank into the sea.
Captain Columbus sent a small boat to retrieve the exhausted Chang Long. They quickly resumed their journey, fearing more monsters might block their way. Once on board, Chang Long fell into a deep sleep. Siegfried volunteered to carry her to a cabin below deck since Kitsune had to remain in fox form to avoid arousing suspicion among the Bloodied Angel crew.
"From here, our journey should be much smoother. Most sea monsters stay near the shore or around islands where they could build nests,"
Captain Columbus sighed and smiled in relief.
"Once again, we owe Chang Long. Without her, our ship would have been doomed. Even though the Hookjaw Turtles Beast weren't high level, they were tough to handle, as everyone experienced firsthand,"
Sea Breeze sighed in relief.
"Can we relax now?"
Peach Blossom asked, soaking wet, her hair messy. She was eager to freshen up.
"Yes, you can. If nothing major happens, we won't disturb you,"
Captain Columbus nodded with a smile.
"It's a shame about the loot. It all sank!"
Hero sighed, feeling the pinch of lost treasure. As a sniper, he often earned experience but missed out on loot, making him relatively poor compared to others.
"Don't worry. If we reach our destination, Sieg will share the wealth!"
Draco whispered to Hero, who smiled gratefully.
"Thanks,"
Hero said, turning to chat with Jane. It was rare to find such generous players, and it seemed he and Jane might have found true friends in the game, and in a group no less.
The Bloodied Angel sailed at top speed, reaching Europa Island's waters in less than five days. By the evening of the fifth day, they docked at Europa Island. They bid farewell to the Bloodied Angel crew and made their way into the grand and beautiful city of Tartarus.
"Feels like we're in a fairy tale!"
Peach Blossom exclaimed dreamily, looking at the grandiose Greek-Roman architecture of the houses and streets.
"I've never been to this city before. Usually, we land at Pylus City from the Starting Island or Suvarn City, since it's at the southernmost part of Europa Island. But coming from the north, we've ended up in this city at the island's northernmost point. None of us have been here before,"
Draco said, looking around in awe.
"Should we find a place to stay first and then explore the city?"
Aden suggested. Everyone nodded in agreement and began looking for a hotel to book rooms. Chang Long mentioned she would return home.
"Come on, Chang, your house has the same old atmosphere. Let's stay in a hotel here and change things up,"
Valentine encouraged.
"That's right. Look, there's a sign for a bathhouse, an arena, a cathedral, and... a castle!"
Peach Blossom was stunned at the sight of the majestic white castle perched on a hill a fair distance from the city. It was not only beautiful but also larger than any castle they had seen in the game.
"It's beautiful,"
Chang Long shrugged, seeing Peach Blossom gazing at the castle in awe.
"I really want to see that castle, Master Chang. Will you come with me?"
Peach Blossom pleaded, gently shaking Chang Long's arm.
"Sure,"
Chang Long agreed, leading the way to the castle. Peach Blossom smiled broadly and happily clung to Chang Long's arm as they walked.
"Hey, Chang Long!"
Siegfried called out, seeing Chang Long and Peach Blossom heading in a different direction. He informed the others, and they all followed.
Chang Long and Peach Blossom walked until they reached the castle gates, guarded by soldiers. Chang Long approached one of the guards to ask if they could enter the castle. The guard responded politely but firmly:
"No entry without official business!"
"What kind of business?"
Chang Long asked.
"The castle is currently recruiting volunteers to search for Princess Rhea, who went missing at sea. If you accept, you can enter the castle!"
The guard replied.
"Missing at sea?"
Peach Blossom repeated in confusion.
"And the quest reward?"
Chang Long asked further.
"I can't disclose that. You'll need to accept the quest from the king to get all the details. My duty is only to guide you,"
the guard replied with a serious expression.
"Is there a limit on the number of people for this quest?"
Peach Blossom inquired.
"Groups or individuals are welcome, no limit. The king is very anxious,"
"What's going on, Chang Long?"
Oliang and the others, who had caught up, asked.
"Do we have time to take on a quest?"
Chang Long asked, finding the quest intriguing.
"What quest?"
Valentine asked.
"To find the princess, Mi,"
Peach Blossom answered.
"But if you all aren't interested, you can go look for clues about Fairy Island first. I think I'll try this quest,"
Chang Long said.
"We're in!"
Chang Long's friends replied in unison, startling the guard.
"As you heard,"
Chang Long said, smiling at the guard. He gave a small smile in return and led Chang Long's group into the castle.
