'Talk of bad timing,'

Everlearn mused silently to himself as he tapped out of the elevator, hoping she wouldn't say a word, but then,

HAAHAHAHA!

A demonic laughter ripped throughout the entire balcony as Rosa burst into laughter, almost flying off the balcony.

She quickly scurried off the edge to Everlearn, pointing at his swelled-up face before another round of demonic laughter echoed through the balcony.

"Can you move out of the way, please?"

Everlearn asked as Rosa took a deep breath, calming her heart, before her eyes turned tender, looking at Everlearn and saying,

"Oh no. You got jumped?"

Rosa said as Everlearn's eyebrows twitched.

"Does it hurt?"

That question was the last thing needed to make him finally lose it.

"Bitch, what part of me right now looks unhurt?"

"Oh no, you got jumped? The fuck is that question the fuck?"

"Does it look like I got thrown into the air and got caught back in some tender arms or shit?"

He asked, but she only erupted into more laughter.

But then Rosa paused, noticing something abnormal.

The lacerations on his body were quite unique, and her eyes glinted as it occurred to her:

"Waiiiit, this...this isn't a human work."

"These...these are...rats!?"

Rosa said in disbelief.

"Waiiiit, you got jumped by rats!?"

║He did. Pathetic, ey.║

The system blinked, snickering in mockery at him as Everlearn's brow quivered.

Another round of demonic cackles echoed through the night sky, and Rosa couldn't remain on her feet any longer, collapsing on her butt.

At least she was finally off his door.

Everlearn brought out his green card and silently opened his door.

"Hey, Everlearn, wait, I…" She tried to say, but he didn't even turn back.

Entering his room, he shut the door behind him.

Once he was out of sight, his teeth gritted in pain, struggling to hold back his consciousness until at least he reached the bathroom.

Switching on the shower, Everlearn couldn't even take off the rags on him before sliding down on his back, his eyes slowly rolling to the back of his head.

But just after he was lost in the darkness, the golden panel flashed;

║Alert: The Host has been attacked by rats.║

║Status: Poisoned.║

║Rejuvenation Card will now be used to heal host injuries and get rid of the poison.║

SPLASSSH!

The sound of the splashing was what made Everlearn's eyes flutter open.

Water splashed down between his brows as he jerked himself up to his butt.

Looking down, he was still in the same tattered clothes, but this time at least there were no marks on his skin.

His hands reached to his face, and he gently pressed but found nothing.

He rubbed more and was met with that familiar smoothness.

"But, I didn't level up, did I?"

"You! You used the rejuvenation card!"

Everlearn screamed in shock.

He had been saving that card for the day when fate fucks him over, at least, he'll have one secret card to pull out.

Yet, his secret winning move had now been used!

║You were poisoned by the rat claws.║

║You would have been unconscious for more than three days if I hadn't used it.║

The system panel blinked, and Everlearn could only sit down silently.

When he remembered the events of last night, his eyes burned with rage.

"Those bastard rats."

"I swear on my life, I'll be the one to wipe the last breathing Radiorats off the planet soon."

"I swear it!"

He swore hatefully, rising to his feet and switching off the shower.

Moving to his bedroom, he changed into fresh clothes before heading to the living room.

Picking up his device, his face paled slightly when he looked at the time.

"5:16."

"Wait, the next class is in…"

"5:20!"

"Shit!" Everlearn cursed as he jumped off the sofa, racing out.

He turned back again to pick up his green card before running to the door, only to run back again and pick up his device.

Finally, he bolted out the door.

In his rush to, he almost collided with someone at the door.

A pink-haired girl, currently looking at him with an apologetic smile.

"You're finally up."

"Hey, Everlearn. About yesterday, I…"

"Did you check the time?"

Everlearn asked, and Rosa watched him bolt through the corridor, running to the elevator.

"The time?"

She mused and turned to look at her device, her brows creasing slightly.

"Just four more minutes before class begins."

But it was no big deal at all, since class wouldn't immediately start at that time, probably only 30 minutes after, and she wouldn't be missing any important teaching.

And coming late was only a 5-point deduction.

But in that moment, it occurred to her, and she bolted after him, taking the elevator too.

"Ahh,"

Everlearn yelled slightly as he ran through the pavement.

Glancing at his device, the time was 5:17.

"Shit, just three more minutes,"

He muttered under his breath as he turned to the map.

Reaching the class would take around five minutes, meaning he'd arrive two minutes late.

That was 5 bloody points gone

'Damn it!'

He cursed, but all of a sudden

VROOOOOOOOOM!

The thunderous roar of an engine erupted behind him. As he turned, his hair whipped around from the blast of air, and a figure swerve sharply before skidding to a stop beside Everlearn.

"Here."

The words rang out as he found a helmet pointed at him.

It was from a figure currently on a Tron power bike, with a helmet over their head.

He stared from the helmet in his hands to the figure, only to watch the glass shield on the helmet ripple, revealing the one hidden within.

It was Rosa.

"You wanna miss those points or keep them?" She asked, and when Everlearn thought about it,

He picked up the helmet, wearing it before he got behind her, but things got awkward.

Tron powerbikes were aggressive bikes that required lying over them, and the same was true even for the person behind.

That left Everlearn feeling awkward, but only for a moment,

VROOOOOOOOM!

When the Tron bike suddenly burst forward, Everlearn was almost flung off, and in the next moment, his hands tightly held to her waist as he held on for dear life.

Everlearn saw nothing.

The entire world was a blur, and his heart roared as he watched them narrowly miss crashing into other vehicles, over and over again.

Rosa was so fast and crazy that she even moved beneath an incoming truck, both of them barely missing getting crushed by the huge tires yet she made it still:

Wen Everlearn finally got down from the bike and checked the time,

"5:19."

"Come on!"

She called out, grabbing onto his arm, and he was pulled in as the duo entered the building along with the rest of the students.
